For Basilio

Crucifix followed closely behind the gray coyote as he began to lead her on the thirty minute walk. Her green gaze moved up along the trees as they became thicker and moved over their heads. This scene wouldn't last for too long as the two of them would soon come to a clearing. Basilio moved in front of her, and she wanted to make sure that he would be alright with his staff before she moved her eyes up to take in the view. It was nothing like she had ever imagined. The sight was amazing. The clearing itself was beautiful, and full of color from the arrangement of flowers. She couldn't have asked for anything better. Her head turned down to him with a large smile, seeming to have eased up from the nervousness he had seen before, "Thank you.. for bringing me here.."

The coyote girl wanted so much to rush out into the clearing, but she couldn't ignore what Basilio was saying to her. She gave a small tilt of her head. Her voice was still quiet, but sounding less nervous, "Cibil..? Sounds better for my sister.." Her name was Crucible after all. It was nice to hear that he also traveled along with a sister. It was something else that the two of them had in common. This tiny man would surely make a good friend for her to have, one to have that was outside of her family. She did seem to be getting more at ease with him after all.

Once he was satisfied with her words, she moved forward towards a patch of flowers. She moved down to her knees, her hands moving out to gently touch them and take in their scent. Her smile was evidence enough of her happiness. She began to pick a couple of them, making slits in the bottom of the stems and moving the flowers together, attaching them to each other.

As the two coyotes were getting settled in the clearing, they would soon feel another presence moving towards them. Crucifix was still distracted by her flowers and hadn't taken notice to the one coming towards them. His appearance was not hard to distinguish. His wolf features stuck out like a sore thumb among the two tiny coyotes. He strolled towards the two, using his height to his advantage to stand over them. He remained silent for the moment, eyes linger on them as he watched, waiting.

Ordinarily, he would have been paying attention to their surroundings. After all, the whole point of him coming along with her was that there was a lot in this world that didn't agree with the two of them, coyotes, just canines in general. Even the environment was at times. Today, that seemed almost the opposite. The girl seemed to be opening up to him, even if it was just a little bit. She seemed happy to be in this new place, a place of tranquility and peace where the air was soft and filled with pleasant scents and tastes. It was a place of treasures and, of course, flowers.

"You're welcome," he said, a sickly sweet smile perking at his lips. His fingers curled at his sides, his eyes averting to the sky before it fell back to the girl once more. He shook his head almost immediately at her statement. "I guess you're right in some ways. Her name is Crucible. Your nick name should fit you more." He paused, that small smile of his growing even if just a little. "Crucifix.. How about Cifi or Crux?" He liked the sound of either but he figured neither were very good. He preferred the sound of her own name on his tongue than a made up one.

"I think I'll just stick with calling you by your own name." As she moved to settle onto the ground, near the flowers, he took up residence behind her, letting his wine stained colored eyes watch her ever so closely. She was sweet in more than one manner. He doubted she had ever truly been hurt by anyone other than a wolf. He was quite sure she was as innocent as she seemed and he adored that from her. She seemed to be getting used to him and that was even better.

Because he had not seen the wolf coming upon them, the sudden smell of another was surprising. He knew from scent alone that it was male. From other factors like the stench of mutt to that of perpetual mange, he'd gathered that it was close. Turning around was second nature and he was glad he did. Soon, he felt the breath of a wolf upon his neck. Not literally considering he barely let anyone aside from those he cared about get close enough but figuratively, the wolf was close enough that he probably could have killed them had he a bow and the time.

Instead, it had brought hold of a knife that he strung into his hands, looking Basilio down as if Basilio was nothing but a pest it could knock away. It came to a stop beside them and Basilio moved back, trying to settle himself closer to Crucifix. The girl, as he had already known, was quite timid, even though his initial questioning look between her and himself told him that she was more than capable of taking care of herself as long as she could pull herself together. "I want all you have. Food, drink.. everything of value," growled the canine that shifted closer, pitch red eyes staring at the two with condemnation trapped within the thick curves of his jaws.

+500 Is this too much? XD

Crucifix really all in all didn't mind what Basilio called her, even if it was just a nickname to shorten her real name. His suggestions were not too bad, and she offered him a small smile and a nod of her head. He was from her home pack, and he seemed alright, so it really shouldn't bother her. He seemed to come to the conclusion thought that he would rather stick to using her actual name. That was fine too. Whatever he decided to use would be alright with her.

As the coyote girl had taken her position near the flowers, the tiny male had taken a place not too far from her. It was nice to see that he was wanting to join her, rather than help her just find the flowers before wandering off on his own. She was thankful to him for that. She moved a hand to the small bag attached at her hip, opening it so that she would be able to place the flowers she wanted to take back home in there without the outside getting too dirty. Once done, she continued on the links of flowers, finishing them and attaching the first one she started with to the last one. It formed a nice ring of flowers. She turned, scooting over to Basilio and moving it towards him to place it along his hair.

Crucifix stopped short though as she noticed the figure looming over the two of them. It was clear what he was. Wolf. It was the only thing that went racing through her mind. Why now? Why while she was having such a wonderful time. He was so much more than intimidating. Crucifix felt her body tense up and begin shaking. She couldn't control herself anymore. Her hands pulled back across her chest, eyes getting smaller as she stared up at the wolf. She couldn't move her gaze away. She couldn't hold in her anxiety. Ears pinned back against head. She tried to speak, but the words escaped her. All she could do was shake and stare.

The male's eyes moved away from the tiny man, though his knife did not. He could see into her fear, and he was more than certain he would be able to take advantage of that. The knife trailed along down Basilio as he moved past the tiny man, moving down in front of Crucifix and grinning, While you're at it, why don't you hand me over your little girl here too. She'll make some great company. Crucifix could feel her body sink down. She didn't want this. She wanted to speak against him. Speak of how vile he was, how much he would have to atone to God for the acts he was committing, but she couldn't. The wolf's free hand reached out towards her, Come here girlie. Her shaking only continued to increase as his touch came closer. Why couldn't he just leave them alone?

He was calm, almost unnaturally still as Crucifix came close. As she did, his head bent down giving her easier access to his head, allowing her the freedom to place the flowery ring about his head so that he was gifted with a floral crown rather than the boyish short hair that he'd been given with the war. He hadn't thought that they were going to be interrupted. In fact, his hand had lifted, almost reaching out to lightly graze over the side of her face. But it was stopped short, barely even moving from his side. The thought hadn't ever really passed his mind or come to conclusion within his soul. However, it happened and they were left to deal with the situation at hand in only a few short moments. He should have known things wouldn't be that simple.

Basilio was a warrior. It had been in him from a young age, from the time he started his first trek across the earth to the moment that Loki and him had killed the stranger at the borders who had done just as much damage to the skulls there as he had to Basilio's arm. At the time, Basilio had been innocent. The only thing that mattered to him was whether or not he became the conqueror of trials. Loki had always noted his short exterior and big things came from small people.

The figure didn't seem to think much of him. He ignored Basilio, moving on from the boyish pygmy soldier toward Crucifix who seemed all the more innocent, more fun to play and toy with than Basilio, a male who seemed like he'd fight given the chance. In an instant, He let his lips curl over his teeth, especially as the blade touched against his fur and the male moved to grab at the anxiety driven girl. Quickly, the flash of his staff became apparent. While the wolf was turned, he'd be in for quite a shock. The solid butt of his staff came right to the side of his head, sending shooting stars across his vision, not enough to knock him out but more than enough to anger him.

He turned, almost too quickly, to face Basilio, Crucifix forgotten in the brief exchange between the two, a growl lurching at Basilio's lips. "You ever touch her and I'll kill you with my bare paws. I'll scatter your pieces all across this area. They won't know what happened to you." Spittle drew from his maw, tongue flicking between his teeth in a surprisingly snarly manner, his tiny body moving to place itself between Cru and the wolf. With his staff in front of him, he probably seemed way too much to bare at this instant. After all, all the wolf had was a knife while Basilio had a longer reach with the staff. The side of the wolf's head hurt, more than a little and Basilio could see blood trickling from the edge of the canine's ear.

Crucifix was happy to see that Basilio had no objection to letting her place the ring of flowers on the top of his head. She didn't think anyone else would stick around long enough for her to even do this. It only made her opinion of the tiny man increase. She was already thankful to him for staying around, but to even allow her innocence to be pushed onto him, it really was a great feeling. Her green eyes had drifted to the side as she raised her arms, catching the sight of one of his own hands reaching out to her. Basilio seemed fine enough, and she was opening up to him anyways. Maybe it would be alright. Maybe for once her timid nature could be brushed aside.

Not in a chance given the wolf's appearance. She didn't want him anywhere near her, and yet there was nothing that she could do about it. Her anxiety had gained control over her body, keeping her frozen in place, and it only began to make her feel worse. She felt sick to her stomach, her muscles continuing to grow tense with the increase of her shaking. She was a prisoner in her own body. Nothing she could do could make it stop.

It happened in an instant. Her gaze moved up enough to see Basilio's staff come in contact with the wolf's head, causing him to back off her and turn his attention back to the tiny man. He was protecting her. He had even moved in front of her, daring to threaten the wolf that had been the cause of all her problems. She wasn't sure what to do or even think. Her mind was too warped by her anxiety. She just stared at Basilio's back, given it was the first thing in front of her.

The wolf felt the blood trickling down along his ear. He was beginning to wonder if all of this was really worth it, but then again all he would have to deal with was the tiny little warrior in front of him. He had pondered the thought in his mind and lifted his body up. It was not worth getting in a fight over. He turned away with the flick of his tail, Fine. Keep her and your worthless items. She's not that attractive anymore anyways. He soon made his leave, trailing off to find someone else to harass.

There was nothing he wanted more than to move closer to her, to hold her and comfort her over the threat of the big bad wolf. Unfortunately, he knew that any chance of him turning his back to the creature right then and there was madness. He would just as easily find a knife in his back, perhaps through his rib cage. In an instant, he felt relief as the wolf finally moved on, feigning threat upon the girl and him. Dark, dangerous eyes settled on the wolf's back as he left and in an instant, he shifted and then turned around to face her. The wolf was gone and finally they were alone again.

Softer, his gaze locked onto her own. She'd been staring holes into his back, anxiety driven perhaps. He didn't like wolves. He never had and that wolf in itself had declared war. Had Basilio been the man he was in the last war, he might have chased after him, he might have hunted him down and taken his skull for the borders but the girl right here probably wouldn't have agreed with that. Cru was watching him. He turned his head to the side, letting himself spit his disgust onto the ground.

"Swear the wolf around here are cheap scum that don't mind hurting others for their own gain," he said with a small nod of his head. He lightly scratched at the side of his head, scarred eye closing ever so slightly and as he did so, his other hand moved to lightly catch at the bottom of her muzzle to lift her eyes toward his. Whether she allowed the movement, well, that was sincerely up to her. "You're alright, Crucifix. I told you I wouldn't him hurt you, didn't I?"

He smiled, a Cheshire sort of smile only less evil and more sickly sweet and filled with deliberate charm. "Are you okay?"

Crucifix's gaze could not move away from Basilio. He was the first thing in front of her and the only thing that she could keep her fixed gaze on. At least it was better than her eyes being locked on the knife weilding wolf. Even as he had turned and began to leave the clearing, her body remained in her state of anxiety. Her body continued to shake. She wanted so much to calm herself down. She tried to tell herself that the threat was gone and she had nothing to worry over. Her body fought so much against her mind. She couldn't do it. She was just going to have to wait until it passed. At least with all the other times this happened, Crucible had been there to break her out of it.

The coyote girl's eyes seemed to relax as Basilio reached forward, gently taking her muzzle and lifting it up so that she was looking him in the eyes. She couldn't find any words to say to him. She could hear him, the words registering in her head. They were so kind and comforting. She couldn't believe she had let him see her get like this, but was more surprising was that he wasn't abandoning her. He stayed with her, helping her to fight against her fears. He told her she was alright. She wanted to believe it so much.

The smile appeared on his face as he asked her a simple question. He had told her she was alright, but she knew that was not the case. Her body though, had begun to ease up. There was a slight decrease in her shaking, and her eyes began to relax as she stared into his. She brought the ring of flowers up to her face, finding comfort in the little plants that she loved so much. Her mouth opened to speak, getting out what she could. Her voice was as quiet as always, though still a bit frantic, the grip of anxiety holding over her voice, "I.. I.. don't.. know.."

ooc goes here [+3]

One thing that Basilio noticed right away was that her anxiety was near crippling. If she ever had to focus in order to break herself out of it in the midst of a fight with a wolf, she would die and he couldn't stand for that. Despite the fact that he barely knew her, he felt for her situation. He could have very much been the same way give or take if he wasn't able to fight. He watched as she moved for her flowers, lifting them to her nose and his hand fell from her muzzle to her neck. In an instant, he moved to drawl her close.

Many would have taken the moment to sweep her advantage away from her. He focused primarily on making her feel better. Considering they were pretty much almost the same height, he settled for the lesser of two evils and simply let his other arm hook about her waist so that she was held snug against him in a soft, pretty tendered hug. He knew how wolves were and he knew that someone's anxieties could drive them mad. With her words, he knew she wasn't all the way alright. He wanted her to be but that would come with time.

"It's alright, Crucifix. I'm not going anywhere. The wolf is gone and I'm the only one here with ya." He realized that the situation could be very awkward for her. In a manner, he felt after a few moments that letting go was the correct course of action, especially with him not knowing her very well. He wanted to change that now, though, considering she seemed like she could use a friend. She had left her sister, from what she'd said, for family in Inferni. Family there was always a little scattered. There was no way of him knowing whether she would be okay with just that.

He let his tongue ride over his lips and finally drew back, arms feeling weightless, somewhat useless now that the warmth of her body was gone from his own. "Would you like to pick more flowers?"

Crucifix's eyes slowly began to follow Basilio's hand as it moved down from her muzzle and down to her neck. She didn't know what it was that he was trying to do, though she was not outright pushing him away from her, not that she could even if she wanted to. She was too shaken up, and anyone would be better than having to try and face this alone. Soon, she felt the tiny man's other arm move around her hip. What was he doing with her? He had pulled her into a hug. She didn't know what to think of the gesture. In a way she was thankful for it. She had acknowledged that he was trying to help her calm down, but on the other hand it was unexpected. She didn't know Basilio all that well, and wasn't sure if this was alright or not. He just held her there. Her body shook against his arms, though is embrace had halted her shaking.

He again reassured her that she was alright and that the wolf was gone. He was the only one there. She knew these things to be true, and she wanted her fears to stop. The wolf had been a good distance away from them and no longer in view. He was gone and there was no way that he would be able to hurt her. She just offered him a small nod, waiting on the anxiety to lend her more control over her own body. For now, she was still the victim to its embrace, but the grip was slowly loosening.

Basilio asked if she wanted to go and pick some more flowers. It was a nice idea. Maybe it would help to relax her, seeing as it was something that she enjoyed. "Y..Yes.." spoke the coyote girl, fighting herself to get up and move on to another pack of flowers. She still held the ones from before in her arms. She just needed something to hold onto. She had done her best not to squish any of them under her grip. She kept close to the gray coyote, letting him be the one to lead her to another patch. Maybe once she felt more at ease she could finally give him the gift that was waiting for him in her hands.
