Anyone welcome; Belial’s doing some midnight reading in the library! Looking for someone who wants to learn a little about Inferni xD

What was there for him to do in Inferni? He was a weakling; he knew nothing about combat amongst the ranks of those that did. His pack mates were fighters, and what was he? A sneaky killer. He only had the upper hand when his victims weren’t expecting their death to come so sudden, or when he was able to be sneaky enough to poison them on site. And if he didn’t? What if he was backed into a corner by someone? He was screwed – he better try to talk his way out of it, but if all else failed, he’d get his ass whooped or run.

He couldn’t find his place in his father’s pack. He wasn’t a warrior and he wasn’t a soldier. He was a sneaky killer. There was nothing he could do, but be smart and talk kindly to others. He had no skills, but reading and poisons. The two didn’t go hand and hand and they didn’t really help him in the position he was in now. Somehow, he was climbing ranks, but had put in barely any effort. He hadn’t worked at his skills and hadn’t even found a teacher to help him.

All issues aside though, it was midnight and he was awake doing nothing but thinking about how useless he was. He rose from the bed in his room and wandered into the hallway. Despite their kind being nocturnal creatures, things were quiet during the night time. The faint creak of the floorboards sounded much louder than they would have during the day. Whoever was up like him would have heard him creeping passed.

Out of all the places in Inferni, he found himself in the library. Much to his disappointment, Inferni didn’t have very many books. Most of their books consisted of children’s books and random other books that held his interest only for a few seconds. However, the great book that sat upon its own shelf had him wondering, and struggling to take it off of its shelf. With difficulty, he flopped the heavy book onto the floor, sat beside it and cracked it open. From seeing the blood red Lykoi symbol on the from cover to turning the first few pages, he quickly realized what he was reading – but he kept reading because secretly he hoped his family would be mentioned somewhere within.

500+ Rose could learn about Inferni's history. Optime Form :)

Why couldn't she sleep? Rose lay awake in her bed of furs, staring at the ceiling. It remained as inanimate as ever, providing no answer to her silent question. With a sigh she rolled to her side, accidentally nudging the pure white cat that was curled up beside her. He grumbled with discontent and lifted his head to glare at her openly. Sorry, love She whispered, reaching out to gently scratch his head. He stretched to met her fingers, quick to forgive, and she leaned over to softly kiss his head before getting to her feet. Cloud watched her as she stepped over him and made her way across the room to the door. Before she pushed through the door into the hall she looked back, her tired eyes finding the white of the cat's pelt. I'm gonna go for a walk, clear my head. Be back later. Cloud nodded and then lay his head back down while Rose turned and swept through the doorway.

The Mansion's hallways were familiar to her now. She walked past her neighbors' doors without a thought to those that rested inside. Many of the rooms in this part of the mansion were unoccupied, their doors left open or missing entirely. In fact, many of the rooms throughout the Mansion were unoccupied. It wasn't surprising; it was a large building with many rooms and even if all the coyotes in Inferni lived within it some of the rooms would still be unoccupied. But still it felt almost eerie, the emptiness and silence, as Rose descended the stairs to the first floor.

She was hyper aware of every creak and groan the old building made as she tried to softly land on each step. It was no use, though; no matter how gently she tread the weak flooring moaned with each careful step. If she ever needed to sneak around this would be the last place she would want to be. Luckily she wasn't trying to be sneaky, she was merely trying to not disturb her fellow clanmates who slumbered.

A creak from below, too distant to be caused by her, caught her attention. Someone else was awake and wandering the Mansion. With a bit of trepidation she continued down the stairs. She strained her ears, waiting for more sounds from below but there were none. Perhaps it had just been a cat - she had seen a few (besides Cloud) wandering the Mansion - or something else non-canine. There was no one around when she reached the bottom of the stairs so she shrugged it off. Even if it was another Infernian it wasn't really any of her concern anyway.

She turned at the bottom of the stairs with the intent to go through the front lobby and out the main doors into the garden beyond. But, she didn't make it that far. The distinct sound of paper against paper caught her attention as she walked past the large room the bordered the entrance. Curious, she stepped toward it - her ears pressed forward to catch any other sounds. A few moments later there was the same sound again, clearer not that she was closer to the source. She crept closer until she was peering around the doorframe at the stranger seated on the floor of the large room. Library, she realized when she saw the -mostly empty- shelves of books. Her mismatched gaze returned to the hybrid and she watched him as he slowly read the large book before him, never saying a word.

Hey! Sorry for the wait >.>

It all started with a bunch of coyotes coming to Ashes and Ashes, which was what seemed to be the place for all the canines at the time – before they all expanded outward into the rest of Nova Scotia. Kaena, the old Lykoi woman he briefly knew of that still resided here, was one of the founders. She founded the clan with another, Yasu Zarah. When the clan was first founded, it was difficult to control. In the text, it mentioned that Inferni was coyote supremacists, and the only wolf they trusted was Kaena’s mate at the time, Zullifer Yfel.

The first few lines of text were strange to him – he didn’t know a coyote supremacist Inferni, and he had only known Kaena as a very old woman who resided here. He had known that she was one of the founders, that was true – but as far as he knew, she was not the creator of most of the Lykoi clan. That was only a coincidence to him.

He was somewhat disappointed that his family wasn’t mentioned yet, even though he had only just read a few lines. He was never told what importance his father had in Inferni, so how would he know whether the man would come in later, later in the book – or not come in at all? Maybe Toxic wouldn’t be mentioned at all because he was only in Inferni for a brief period before disappearing, since he seemed to be pretty elusive when he wanted to be.

A scent had suddenly caught up with him, and the sound of another’s breathing caught his ears as he looked up and found a face staring down at him. An easy smile slid onto his lips and he leaned back from his hunched position over the book for the moment. ”Hey. I didn’t see you there,” he spoke smoothly. His orange eyes peered up at her own mismatched ones, and he wondered what she was doing up while everyone else slept. ”I’m Belial Massacre.”

000+ All the apologies for responding so late!

When the male finally looked up at her she straightened so that she was no longer leaning against the door frame and returned his easy smile with her own warm one. She stepped out so that she was standing in the middle of the doorway and placed one hand against the rotting frame. I didn't want to disturb you. Reading, she knew, took concentration and often canines did not like to be interrupted while the were concentrating on the words. Even though she had been taught to read from a young age she still struggled to figure out what certain words meant. The book he held was large, larger than any she had seen, and she wondered if he meant to read the whole thing.

Rosaline Cross. She replied as she stepped into the library. What are you reading? From where she stood she couldn't see the writing on the front of the book, even when she squinted and tipped her head to the side. She didn't yet dare to step further into the room, for even though Belial had smiled he might want to be left alone. It was the middle of the night, after all.

You posted in the nick of time! xD

The woman who stood in the doorway was pleasant enough. She was welcome, even though she seemed to hesitate to come closer. ”Come in, Rosaline. I don’t bite,” he ushered her in, with a wide foxy smile. ”You’re not disturbing me,” he answered, looking down briefly at the large history book. There was no way he’d even make a dent in the massive literature by tonight. He’d have to record what page he was able to get up to, and call it a night at some point – but for now, he wanted to talk to Rosaline. ”It’s a book about Inferni’s history,” he answered, flipping through a few future pages, ”I was hoping to find some information about my family in here. I think I had an uncle here before who was quite popular…” He stopped fidgeting with the pages and looked up, dropping them back to the current page he was on when she came in.

”Why are you up so late? Are you a nocturnal creature too?” he chuckled, gazing up at her with his bright eyes. Even though their species were supposed to be active during the night and sleeping in during the day, many of them had grown accustom to utilizing the daylight instead of the darkness for their endeavors.
