Getting older was the best! He was able to sneak off more and more often on his own because he was so much smarter than he had been last week or yesterday or a month ago. It didn't occur to the green-eyed boy that his fathers might be letting him "escape" for his own adventures. No, it was definitely something to attribute to his own splendid abilities. It was much easier to creep off alone than with Damianus. Mostly because his brother was clumsy, so they made a lot more noise. Kallistos was sneaky. He was good at being quiet, whereas his brother was really good at falling on his face Adorable, but not subtle.

Today he was exploring near the Mansion, a place that was not all that appealing because it was just another building. So far he hadn't found the appeal in such places, beyond a place to sleep. Indoors were boring, full of dust and talking. Adults liked to talk way too much. Outside was so much better. It was warm, there were lots of interesting smells and he could always find something to do. When he went around the mansion, there was something interesting, though. A building but a different kind of building. It smelled of plants he hadn't smelled before and that intrigued him. Plants weren't something he often found inside of buildings.

Rearing up against the wall, he scratched against the wood where he thought a door was but found no yield. Kallistos huffed in disappointment. Not being able to shift yet was such a buzz kill. That was one skill that he hadn't obtained yet.

+300snap doesn't know what to do with puppies

Horses were exhausting, plants were an almost relaxing past time. Her hobby with horses had quickly become a career and from there, she wasn't exactly sure what she was doing. The plants, well, they were quiet and didn't kick or try to bite her. Her latest acquisition was leaving her exhausted and beaten but he was good fun, she supposed, and the foals that would come from the pairings she planned would be beautiful and she would not allow them to be mad men like their father.

It had taken her an hour of just sitting in the greenhouse to calm herself. She had only had Chamerion a day, he would improve and she was determined to see it through. At last rising from her prone position of relaxation, she was determined to get something done. The greenhouse was a mess and she was not particularly at fault with that. She had met Leon here a few weeks prior and hadn't cleaned up entirely.

Though, she was doomed to procrastination when the familiar steps of a puppy plodded to the door of her green house. She could see his murky form through the clouded glass as he reared onto his hind legs. Snap almost laughed knowing the door needed to be pulled rather than pushed. Exiting the rows, she pushed on the stiff door and hoped she didn't cause him to flip over but she couldn't promise much. It simply wasn't often puppies came around to investigate.

"What do you want, Kalli?" She asked, looking down at the evocati. She knew Brumaire well enough to know when his pups came knocking on her door. They had almost been an item, many months ago, but those days were long behind and she didn't mind him whoring about with random females he encountered. The pup was just lucky he landed with Nathaniel as well, there needed to be some reason in his life.

Puppies don't know what to do with SNAP!

Also this is short, I sorry. ._.

He yelped in surprise when the door moved from underneath him, causing him to fall backward. Kalli twisted and caught himself - just barely - from falling onto his back. The boy blinked with wide green eyes up at the adult that had appeared like magic in front of him. It was almost like he had summoned Snapdragon to him. Which was true to a degree, since she had appeared at the doorway in response to him flinging himself onto the door. Though he was thinking more like magic, even though he knew that couldn't be true. Magic didn't exist.

When she asked what he wanted, the boy wagged his tail and made his very best adorable face. Which involved ears back, eyes wide, and tongue lolling out. That was all cutesy stuff, right? "I just wanted to see the plants and stuff! What kind of plants are in there? Do you take care of them? Can I eat them?!" he asked his questions in rapid succession. If she didn't block his way, Kallistos would also take the opportunity to dash past her into the greenhouse. All of the smells were so much fun, he couldn't help but want to sniff them all.

+300 time with aunty snap turns into lessons about things that kill you

Puppies were a curiosity to Snap and despite her better intuitions, she couldn't help but be enamored with their energy and their passion. Some days she really wanted her own but imaging a life without Bellyr was hard and pups that weren't his even stranger. It would happen some day though. She couldn't resist the adventures and antics of puppies.

Though, she couldn't say they had any sense about them and when he rushed in she was thrown back by his curiosity as if it was something she hadn't expected to happen. Her eyes narrowed as he smelled at the plants and asked which ones he could eat. Her rose on the back of her neck as he said that, for she didn't want to eat anything that was actually poisonous. There were lots of plants like that in Inferni and to a puppy, even a small bite could be deadly.

"Hold up, Kalli," She chided, hoping he would slow down for a moment, she have the energy to go chasing him all over the greenhouse right now. She had come here to try to relax, not become a baby sitter. "Don't touch anything, these plants are sensitive to big clumsy puppy paws." She rolled her sanguine eyes.

To stop him from causing too much trouble, she grabbed the scruff of his neck and picked up him. He was getting bigger but he was still a puppy and Snapdragon was small but strong in her actions. She really didn't want him sticking his nose in things like bane berry that looked entirely delectable to someone inexperienced. She pointed out some of the more deadly ones before she would think of setting him down. "There is water hemlock," she said, pointing to a small plant with pretty white flowers.

"That will kill you with a single nibble, giving you the shaking disease, a very good poison." She pointed to another plant with large lobed leaves. It was unimpressive in shape and color. "Just a weed, but if you eat it, you'll go insane and never recover." There were other plants but those could be retched up and healed, those could not.

Death is always a good topic for puppies, of course!

-------------------------------------------

He hadn't gotten too far when she spoke and he half-turned to look at her. "I'm not the clumsy one, that's Dami." he insisted. Kalli was the sly one, the crafty one, the capable one. Not the clumsy goofus that was his brother. Although all puppies could be clumsy or at least inattentive to where they were walking. He was usually aware of where he was walking. If he tried, especially, he wouldn't end up stomping on all of the pretty plants inside the greenhouse.

Before he could say anything more, though, he was scruffed and picked up. Kallistos went limp, which was the natural reaction for a cub picked up in such a manner. He flattened his ears and wagged his tail slightly. "Awww, I wasn't gonna stomp the plants!" he protested, hoping he would be let down again. Being carried was for babies and he was not a baby anymore! It was only a few more months before he would be an adult and shifting himself. Adults never cared, though. He was a cub until he wasn't and even then he bet that he was going to be a cub to them for a while longer. Maybe forever, in the case of his dads.

He looked at the water hemlock and sniffed the air, taking in its scent so he would remember it. Though he was surprised when she said that a single nibble would kill him. Kallistos jerked his head back in surprise, as if it was going to physically assault him just for sniffing at it. "Woah, that's crazy! Why do we have it? Do we give wolves the shaking disease?" he asked. Why would they want a poison in their pack?

When she pointed out another plant that could make him go insane, he looked at it cautiously and sniffed in its direction as well. Remembering the shape of its leaves and its color for later. "Wow. I never knew plants were so cool." he said with a hint of awe in his voice.

+300 ugh sorry for slowness

Feeling more confident that he wasn't going to accidentally kill himself, she returned the feisty pup to the ground. There were more plants that would give him an upset stomach but most of the plants were remedies for ailments. Poisons were all well and good, but the pack was better off with healing goods. it had been a long time since Inferni had been to war with anyone and Snapdragon hoped that it was a long time coming. She had her own vendettas against some of the packs, but full blown war was not the way to go for anyone. Let alone the well being of the young that resided.

"It's good to learn about the world, Kalli," She muttered, meditating slightly. If one did not learn, they were often killed by the very world that should have been nurturing them into adulthood. The world was full of wrongs and rights and it was awfully easy to step down the wrong path.

Though, some canines wanted to spurn others into the wrong path instead of the right. Snap didn't think everyone could be helped, but it made good on the mind to try. Granted, she couldn't claim she was always innocent. "Sometimes we do, but it's been a long time since it has been needed, which is good." Pups didn't know anything about war and Snapdragon was glad for it, "Sometimes bad souls need to be stopped and often poison is the only way." Snap had never administered poison herself but she had seen it happen. It was an awful and gruesome sight to see someone die from an ailment they couldn't fight. Some didn't even know they were being poisoned until it was much too late.

She grinned at him, despite her thoughts. "Plants are cool, though there are many plants that heal rather than poison. I find them much more useful." Snap had learned many on the road, for it was a life or death skill sometimes. Snap supposed she may have died more than once if she didn't learn how to heal herself.

Noo worries, pal! :D

---------------------------------

The boy licked her hand in appreciation when she set him down. He stuck close to her so that she wouldn't think he was going to go and kill her plants. Especially since some of them might want to kill him. Kalli eyed the plants dubiously, just waiting for one to try and reach over to strangle him or something.

At Snapdragon's suggestion that it was good to learn about the world, he snorted. "Yeah, but I never thought plants were good to learn about before. I thought they were just for prey and, well, yeah, stomping sometimes." he admitted. There had certainly been times when he and Dami had done their share of flower stomping. Hey, it was neat to watch them get flattened! No one could blame him for that. He wouldn't have smashed Snapdragon's plants, though. They were clearly protected which made them more important than regular plants outside.

Kalli flicked his ears at the idea of purposefully making someone sick. It seemed strange to him. Mostly because coming to physical blows made more sense; he was not a subtle canine by nature. "Oh. Well why wouldn't we just tear their throat out?" he asked. It seemed weird to him to use an underhanded tactic like poison.

He was also more interested in healing than hurting with plants. If he wanted to hurt someone, he would just do it. He wouldn't give them a plant. "What do the healing ones do? Like, make a cough go away?"

+300 quick owl >:)

Snap was glad to have a receptive charge. It wasn't often that she got to teach a puppy about these plants and sh ewas more than happy to oblige him. Knowledge was good at any age but when he was young he was more likely to absorb all the information that he was given. He was still ignorant about the world, even she was clueless at his age but then reality had deicded that it was time for her to whip into shape and learn a thing or two about the world and soon she was immersed in the life of a coyote family to fall her own.

She had learned plants then, but also how to fight and run and ride horses. It had been an exciting part of he rlife but she preferred being safe within the borders of Inferni now since Odin and Bellyr were gone now.

"Well, Kalli, we use poison when we don't want others to know about it." She said slowly, "Sometimes there are allegiances to keep or enemies that shouldn't be made and poison is hard to figure out. Did they just get sick? Or was there poison? Often it's hard to tell with certainty who dealt it." It was an underhand trick though. Many "noble" warriors refused to use it at all but noble warriors often got their heads hacked off in response.

Snapdragon grinned, healing herbs were more her area but she had an extensive knowledge of the poisons. "Well, a cough is easy. Sometimes catnip can work, but often cherry bark is a better way to do it. Most herbs are steeped to make teas and such and when you drink it you feel much better." She walked around to a drying area where many herbs were kept that needed it. Picking out the cherry bark, she picked up a piece to show it to him.

He raised a hindleg up to his ear and scratched it. All of a sudden, it felt fiercely itchy. Kalli wondered if it was a plant or just a regular itch. Either way, he defeated it easily with a few swipes of his claws. The boy snorted in satisfaction, wagging his tail a bit and looking over at the adult again. Snapdragon was teaching him and he appreciated that. Though he was likely to be distracted again soon, the boy did appreciate her in that moment.

"Why wouldn't you want them to know? You're killin them!" he replied, confused at the concept. Although his outburst was shortly before she was explaining about allegiances and enemies. "Oh... but that won't scare anyone, if they think our enemy just got sick. Anybody could get sick." Kalli replied. It was still a bit much for him to grasp, because he didn't work that way. He was blunt, upfront. As of yet, he hadn't learned diplomacy; it would remain to see if that would change in the future or not.

The healing ones made a lot more sense to him. Coyotes got sick, they needed to be healed; he understood that. Killing was something he thought should be done to a canine's face, though, not underhanded like poison seemed to be. When she picked up a piece of cherry bark, he ambled forward to sniff at it. "It smells good! I'd eat that." he wasn't much of a plant eater normally, but he did like chewing sticks. Not for the purpose of the taste, of course. For chewing reasons.

+300 OOC

Snapdragon smiled at the boy indulgently. There was much that he didn't know yet and with time that knowledge would come but until then, she didn't mind telling him a bit about the world. Snapdragon had been introduced to these sorts of things in the beginning. She had never known her father, but she learned enough about him to know that he was a breed of evil that she probably never wanted to meet. Kalli would have a good upbringing though, his fathers were a good sort of canine and even though Snap had her run ins with Brumaire, she didn't hold any of that against the small boy.

"There are many prizes in the art of stealth," She said, bringing the bark towards her. Cherry trees were not overly common around Inferni and she prized the plants that were difficult to find. Occasionally, a rare herb or product came from beyond the seas and they were stored carefully away. Many of their more exotic poisons had come from such dealings but it was hard to preserve them over long periods of time without the proper facilities and without a pack to war with, many potent poisons wasted away hidden in the shadows.

Tucking the cherry bark away, she said, "Well, hopefully you won't have to. I don't want to see any sick puppies running about and you wouldn't be happy with an upset stomach, I gather." She smiled at him, "There is a lot to learn about the world. There are many packs and some of them don't like coyotes. Well, you look more like a wolf or a dog, than me. My big ears are give aways. Poison protects those that are smaller." It was a heavy subject, especially for the lithe female. She had her own fair share of wolf blood but it was diluted to the point where it was almost indistinguishable.
