- Elvira Winters - 03-26-2011
The bear had done nothing in particular to offend her. It’d simply started out that she’d liked to sink her tiny, needle-sharp teeth into the soft fur, growling softly and envisioning that it was some sort of small, prey animal ensnared in her jaws. Slowly, she’d pulled her head back, holding the stuffed animal in place with her small, plush paws, and a delicious tearing had occurred. Enticed, entranced, she’d snarled louder, pulling harder, and eventually ripped the limb straight from the body. Miniscule jaws parted, exposing teeth and tongue in a feral grin. Button nose was forced into the gaping hole on the side of the bear, pulling fluff and innards out onto the blankets. Roused into a frenzy from cottony entrails, next her fangs greeted the teddy bear’s face, tugging at the crafted features. One glassy, plastic eye rolled into the mattress. An ear felt the wrath of her jaws, coming away with some effort. Soon, only tattered pieces lay about, covering her soft fur and spilling to the floor beyond in her eagerness. Raptor gaze falling on a discarded fragment, she rolled from the blanket-nest and landed on the ground with a dull thump from her plump body. Writhing, she grasped the shred of teddy bear flesh between her teeth. .elvira-x01 b {font-weight:bold; font-family:arial; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .wc {text-transform: uppercase; font-weight:bold;} .elvira-x01 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .elvira-x01 {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b47 ... jfsdvg.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 10px 0px 20px 0px; font-family: tahoma; font-size:11px; line-height:15px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Alaine Winters - 03-26-2011
She returned to the room with a sense of growing dread. It was an emotion that built up inside of her at the thought of her daughter, often bleeding swiftly into guilt. Elvira was her child, and she was just a little girl. There was nothing wrong with her - Surely, Alaine simply imagined the glints of wickedness in her shallow raptor eyes. It was these small needles of guilt that drove her to doubt herself. Today, the apothecary had gone out and found a gift for her surly daughter - slightly the worse for wear, a small toy rabbit with one yellow eye and one red. The toy disturbed her slightly. It was perfect.

Her experiences within the world were short and limited, leaving her with nothing as comparison. She knew that Elijah was different from Odette and Alaine, but she didn’t understand how or why—she merely accepted that as being just a part of who he was. In time, though, she’d come to realize more and more just how different he was. Of course, she was a jealous creature, requiring that she be the center of anyone and everyone’s world. Empathy was a distant, unknown ideal. The collie returned, chiding her daughter over the teddy bear’s destruction. Honestly, Elvira was proud of what she’d done. She merely glared back in return, narrowing her yellow eyes to menacing slits. She would not be made to feel remorse for something that she’d enjoyed. Her gaze fell on the dropped toy and her attention immediately deviated—like the child that she was. Rising to her stubby legs, she quickly trundled over and snatched it up between her jaws, retreating before her mother could take back the stuffed rabbit. Plopping back down onto the corner of a blanket, she placed both forepaws over the inanimate body and assumed an expression that dared anyone to come and try to snatch it away from her. .elvira-x01 b {font-weight:bold; font-family:arial; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .wc {text-transform: uppercase; font-weight:bold;} .elvira-x01 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .elvira-x01 {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b47 ... jfsdvg.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 10px 0px 20px 0px; font-family: tahoma; font-size:11px; line-height:15px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Alaine Winters - 03-26-2011
The girl didn't seem to comprehend the intent of disciplinary words. It was as though there were aspects of her development stage that were missing - holes in the tapestry of Elvira. Through these little snags and tears, Alaine saw only her own failure as a mother, and strived to hold her dismay at the girl's reaction in check.

Whatever she wanted, she received. If Elijah or Odette had something that she wanted, she simply took it. There wasn’t anything that they could do about it. She’d learned quickly that sinking her teeth into either of their hides elicited shrill, exhilarating sounds of pain—already, she held the instinct and mindset of a ferocious predator. It was bred into her, differentiating her from her mother’s domestic roots. She was made to stalk midnight forests and bring down panting, thrashing prey beside others of her kin. Though finely, elegantly boned, she would surely take after her sire in size as she grew. She saw no reason not to simply snatch up something appealing that stood before her, despite her mother’s gentle reprimand. She gave no reaction—no indication that she’d even heard, not even the subtle prick of a folded ear. Sharp, yellow eyes watched her mother’s every movement, prepared for attack on her prize. .elvira-x01 b {font-weight:bold; font-family:arial; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .wc {text-transform: uppercase; font-weight:bold;} .elvira-x01 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .elvira-x01 {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b47 ... jfsdvg.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 10px 0px 20px 0px; font-family: tahoma; font-size:11px; line-height:15px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Alaine Winters - 03-26-2011
Unlike Elijah, who's silence disturbed her in its wrongness, Elvira's wordless glare served only to irritate the tired mother. Oh, her daughter was well capable of verbal communication - 'No' and 'Mine' being veritable favourites - and her arrogant tilt of sharp little maw proved that she had been capable of understanding everything the collie had said.

Words flowed, but she wasn’t focused on such noise with the hand drawing so dangerously close to her toy. Fingers closed on one plush ear, intending to draw it away, but Elvira’s teeth only strengthened their hold. As a result her plump body, sprawled out on the floor, was dragged across the smooth surface like a dust-mop, following the movement of the rabbit. The direction rose, drawing her up into the air, and padded paws were suddenly dangling in empty space. At this a sharp snarl was invoked, reaching up with her forepaws as though to claw at the hand holding one ear with her blunt nails. Her body wriggled, attempting to use the feather-weight of her own frame to draw the stuffed animal back to solid ground along with her. .elvira-x01 b {font-weight:bold; font-family:arial; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .wc {text-transform: uppercase; font-weight:bold;} .elvira-x01 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .elvira-x01 {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b47 ... jfsdvg.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 10px 0px 20px 0px; font-family: tahoma; font-size:11px; line-height:15px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Alaine Winters - 03-26-2011
Rather than neatly execute a retrieval of the dropped toy, it seemed Alaine had underestimated her daughter's possessive grit. Little puppy teeth had fastened onto the rabbit's plush head and dragged the girl's form along with it, slumped across the piles of rags and then up to dangle comically above the air.

Had she seen the internal workings of her mother’s mind she may have wilted some, but ever oblivious, she merely growled softly—the sound muffled by the stuffed animal she latched onto so fiercely. Fingers released their grasp, sending Elvira sprawling back onto the blankets below with the rabbit clutched tightly between her teeth. Flipping back over onto her belly, still holding onto the rabbit, she quickly began to drag it away across the bed, eyeing her wickedly with feral, yellow eyes. Another low warning growl slipped past her lips, ensuring that it was known that the rabbit was her’s. .elvira-x01 b {font-weight:bold; font-family:arial; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .elvira-x01 .wc {text-transform: uppercase; font-weight:bold;} .elvira-x01 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .elvira-x01 {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b47 ... jfsdvg.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 10px 0px 20px 0px; font-family: tahoma; font-size:11px; line-height:15px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Alaine Winters - 03-26-2011
She'd never had to physically reprimand a child before. Caillen had always been a willing, if not absentminded child, and he had done as he was told. Odette was obsessed with obeying her mother, and Elijah... Provided the poor fool knew what was required of him, he was eager enough to please her.

It was not new to him—his sister often destroyed things, especially his things. Elijah always hid those after she was done, hating to think that his mother might believe he had done such damage to toys he loved. The collie-boy’s senses were far more acute than his tan sister, but he had hid while she went on another rampage. Elvira scared him. Many times over she had snapped at his chubby haunch hard enough to draw blood. Even he could recognize that she was dangerous. It was his mother’s voice that finally convinced him things were safe. Elijah crawled out from his hiding place, which was under the bed his mother used. He watched, wide-eyed, as his mother fought his sister for control of the toy. With a low whine, the boy pulled himself against his mother’s larger legs as a cat might do, sensing her distress. He understood. Elvira was mean and upset him and Odette often when their mother was not around. .elijah-x01 b {font-weight:bold; color:#000000; letter-spacing:1px; } .elijah-x01 .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .elijah-x01 .wc {text-transform: uppercase; font-weight:bold;} .elijah-x01 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .elijah-x01 {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b47 ... /fgdfz.png); background-position:center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 10px 0px 20px 0px; font-family: veranda, sans-serif; font-size:12px; color:#111111; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.5px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Elvira Winters - 03-29-2011
http://wolf.sleepyglow.net/crow/elvira_sweet1.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position:bottom; background-color: #513b48; margin:0 auto; border-radius:20px; -moz-border-radius:20px 0px 20px 10px; -webkit-border-radius:20px 0px 20px 10px;"> It was a natural part of progress to realize that the world wasn’t quite what it had been yesterday, and to become disillusioned. Boundaries were meant to be tested and rules broken. She’d never feared her mother, and now—just as any animal—she needed to be reminded of her youth and fragile body. Otherwise, the natural desire to dominate and take control would seep in, transmuting her into a vicious, uncontrollable beast. The world was her’s for the taking—what stood in her way? Selfishness and unbreakable independence left her a cross individual when anything dared to infringe on her desires. Her mother shifted, drawing closer to the child in height. Warily, she watched. Warily, she sunk her teeth further into the rabbit, unmoving. Briefly, yellow eyes drifted as Elijah made his presence known, crouching against the collie’s leg and eliciting a sneer of distaste from the hybrid at this open show of weakness. Quickly, though, her eyes shot back to her mother’s—watching, waiting to see what she would do, almost daring her to make another move. It was almost as though she wanted her to strike. - Alaine Winters - 03-29-2011
It was disturbing, how swiftly her daughter's emotions could twist themselves into a situation such as this one. All children needed discipline as they grew - This was how they became well-rounded individuals, capable of recognising the fallacy of their own existence and the value of opinions that differed to theirs.

She couldn’t hurt him as long as his mother was here. Alone, he would have fled from the girl and hid. Elijah’s baby-blue eyes stared upwards at his mother’s face, reading the expressions that performed on her face. Like the merle-boy, she too was not fond of the girl. This was all right. Elvira was a monster and she frightened them all. His mother’s eyes turned to him, and the boy opened his mouth widely in a smile reminiscent of the one that he had seen Ezekiel so often wear. Wagging his tail, the puppy rose up onto his haunches and pressed his feet against her leg. His head tilted to an extreme angle, focused on her alone. The boy ignored his bratty sister, but said nothing. .elijah-x01 b {font-weight:bold; color:#000000; letter-spacing:1px; } .elijah-x01 .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .elijah-x01 .wc {text-transform: uppercase; font-weight:bold;} .elijah-x01 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .elijah-x01 {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://bloodandfire.sleepyglow.net/publ ... _table.png); background-position:center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 10px 0px 20px 0px; font-family: veranda, sans-serif; font-size:12px; color:#111111; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.5px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Elvira Winters - 03-30-2011
http://wolf.sleepyglow.net/crow/elvira_awl1.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position:top; background-color: #f0d0c9; margin:0 auto; border-radius:20px; -moz-border-radius:20px 0px 20px 10px; -webkit-border-radius:20px 0px 20px 10px;"> The words were meaningless. Oh, she heard them well enough. She had been told the stories, but this did little to quell her self-righteousness. Instead, they both chose to ignore her. A fire flared up in her chest at this, unable to stand being ignored. That was far worse than the stinging, sharp pain of being struck. This hurt her inside, where her eyes couldn’t see. The rabbit was released from her jaws as her head lifted and her attention sharply focused. Her pudgy face contorted in open irritation. But still, they wouldn’t look at her. A growl rose deep in her throat. They were doing this on purpose to spite her—she knew it. Slowly, she rose to her feet. Violence blossomed in her heart. She growled again, louder this time, demanding their undivided attention. - Alaine Winters - 03-30-2011
In her peripherals, the mother could see Elvira adjusting to the new situation, in which she was not central to everyone's attentions. Although it had been a latent form of punishment, it was one that Alaine was beginning to employ often in favour over physical discipline.
