Wretch had been going back and forth between the lands outside of Ichika and the friendly territory itself a lot in the last week or so as she gathered up the last few of her belongings. She had taken them from Cerne Rise in clusters and moved them out beyond the borders, hiding them in a bunch of brambles beside one specific tree so that she could find them later. She had plans to move somewhere else, and was hoping that Tawny would choose to join as well…but she didn’t have a lot of faith in the idea. The other female seemed to be much more of a loner than she and she didn’t know if she’d want to join a pack again after she had left Ichika.

Restless nights were made of vivid dreams feeding of the latent longing for a life beyond the mountains. A family bond by purpose, endlessly wandering the ancestral path laid down by countless generations of steps. Within dream, she felt the ache of her paws to walk alongside her beloved family… to walk within the shadow of a great male whose very image never ceased to inspire a sense of awe. And it was of him that she dreamt, her body small and unrefined trailing after the elusive sun-kissed mountain fading further into the distance. And each night that she slept, she awakened in this private world still bounding after his image just out of reach. Her soundless calls went unheeded even when she dared to call him what she had never before. ‘Come back to me, Father…’ And each time she uttered the forbidden word, the world around her lost its vivid hue and succumbed to an encroaching darkness that no light could penetrate.
In the midst of a deep sleep that remained unstirred, a cry had managed to filter through raising both ears from atop a sleeping skull. But the mind was so withdrawn into the realm beyond that it could not wake even as the pained cries grew louder as they neared the den. However a second sense was awakened then. The stench of blood invaded the sanctity of their home jarring the otherwise sleeping beast to the present with a start. The odor was pungent and foul to the delicate sense and though her eyes were not yet open she could sense the origin of the stench and shakily pulled herself to stand.
Her eyes snapped open to mournful cries then grew wider as silence settled within the den again. “Nayru?” With grating vocals still laden with sleep the woman called out for her Ryu. The smell of blood was so strong that she could not place the lady’s scent without pressing her nose to the earth. Her eyes had grown used to the darkness of the den and in a matter of seconds found the pie-bald lady strung across the floor in a grotesque scene of blood and birth. She was not afforded the means to panic onto to such to the side of her charge whining softly in the hope she would stir. “Nayru…wake… please Nayru get up!” Disease was laced within her voice growing more distressed with each breath meant to rouse the young woman.
Umber boots circled the lying female, pausing only briefly in the midst of frantic circulations to smell the astringent pine of the needles that clung to the bloodied form. She had gone outside, but why on earth was she stained like this? She neared her nose to the girl’s backside finding the origin of so acute an odor. The membrane of birth was still on her, an empty leech clinging with no perception of modesty. And it was not that that forced her to raise her voice and awaken her mate, but the absence of life that was supposed to accompany the young mother. There was no body beneath her or on her maw and the Nomad’s silent fears gave way to a frightened bellow. “SALUCE!”

X’yrin could find no words to bring her comfort, only her presence and that of her mate’s when he awoke. The girl breathed of another… her other that was not with them. Her smoldering fear was given life again to ravage the woman with worry for her friend and the babe that was not with her. She dared not voice what was the most likely sufferance that had befallen her not wanting to force upon the girl another pain she was not ready to handle. Her mind lingered in speculation and fear but was gradually pulled from the threshold of sorrow as the child was brought into the world encased in blood; such an element that once meant the end of life began the essence of life.
Her tail rode high and wagged excitedly for the newborn, but then fell at the count of only a single squirming body. The ‘other’ still pressed upon her mind, urging her want to question the lady but again she thought better of it. Lowering herself to the ground she inched closer to the mother and child, offering her massive frame as both a barrier from the cold gusting into the den and a warm resting brace for the undoubtedly tired mother. She could only wonder what was felt emotionally by the mother after the birth of her child. And then her thoughts strayed to the mountains where her family was sure to have made camp preparing for the mating and birth of many more brothers and sisters. Had this been a birth in their midst only the sire and dam and the Shepard of their family was permitted to watch this miracle transpire. To be able to be present was significantly greater than a honor in her eyes; it was a moment of trust shown by her Ryu.
But even to this, she could not smile, not with her mind heavily bogged down by worry. Her tongue lashed against bracing fangs compelled to inquire what had happened to the girl before this. But she could not, even with the trail of blood that lead into the open cold… even with the near inaudible cry that still rang in her eyes. But her fear was not withheld as it was written plainly upon her face as she sang of it through low, drawling tones. X’yrin looked to her mate for his aid, hoping that he was more adept to offer assurance and perhaps coax an explanation from the girl when her own words fell short.
- Saluce Tremblay - 01-04-2012 Abrupt, that was the word to explain how dream turned to reality, when his form jerked awake from his normally sound sleep. If he had a fault it was his damn near dead like sleep he usually found himself in every night. Only the loudest of loud noises or shakings would wake him from such slumber. Eyes opened wide, blood shot, he’d returned home late the night before, having been doing double duty with food, watching the borders, marking them even though he didn’t technically have the right to, but with Nayru out of commission it was a substitute until she was well enough to place her scent once again. Last night though he had busied himself clearing a mountain pass, an avalanche, albeit a small one had happened and he had cleared a path through it. The ringing in his ears from his mates call all at once drove him through the stages of sleep and out and into the waking world with such a force he almost blacked back out. His muzzle dipped low and then his massive head gave a shake, shaking the cob webs out before he could realistically start to process what was going on. Eyes fell on the two women, nose took in the rancid scent and all at once his mind leap to a wrong conclusion. He staggered over trying to see the damage, if one of them had been attacked of some sort before he settled on Nayru. His calm wasn’t because he was distant just that sleep still clung to him so badly that his mind wasn’t processing everything it should have. Eyes looked, blinking a moment before he recoiled in fear. Before he could speak, take charge and get little Nayru fully into the den and into warmth she had awoken and he was painfully aware of what was happening. Her body shook and he feared the worst, unable to voice anything. Everything seemed to happen in a blur, before long he could feel his mates gaze on him. Blues slowly moved to return her gaze unable to ascertain her fear. Eyes again moved to look outside at the blood trail. He glanced back to her but didn’t tell her anything about what he was about to do. “X’y get her into her room, plenty of blankets and if you have to lay down to keep her warm then do it. She’s been outside, and lost a lot of blood. I’ll be back in a few minutes, I need to go do something.” He didn’t elaborate as to exactly what, but his form moved from the den quickly. It didn’t take him long to follow the trail, he really didn’t even need to use his nose, the trail of blood led him back and back recounting her trail to their den. For a moment he stood confused, sniffing around the area, another scent that had been on the trail recently. He came across a spot where there seemed to be more blood and afterbirth and where the foreign scent was strongest. Sniffing again provided another scent, very faintly and where a small depression in the snow, where a small almost weightless thing might have laid, centered around it the splatter of blood of a birth. Confused, he tried to piece it together, his nose didn’t lie, following the other scent, the stranger, until it left the trail and out into the woods. If there had been another child born, it wasn’t here now and his form started filling with a silent rage. Snow flew in the air as muscles dug into the loose powder, a growl letting loose from his throat. Out and into the wilderness he went, nose keeping him locked on the trail. Several times he lost it, circling around feverishly before relocating it again and taking off. With Nayru safe with X’y for the time being he decided to continue trying to locate the thief and the lost child. But he stopped at the border, looking off into the direction of the South West, eyes looking along the snow covered plains that gave way to blotches of grey dead grass. The behemoth stood, trying to make the decision to follow or to go back and check on the two women in his life. For now he decided he’d go back, to take care of Nayru, but he’d file this away and the first moment he got he’d do more investigation, but one thing was certain, if the child was taken to the pack that harbored the demon child of Connor, the boy who had murdered the man who had given so much joy to Dahlia, then there would be more blood, and he’d make damn sure the traitor would pay. Soon his body slowly made the turn back into Ichika, boiling with rage. All he had was speculation but it had been no foreigner in the lands of ichika that had left to the south west, but one of their own. Time would tell, but for now he needed to return and find out from Nayru what had happened. Saluce started his run again, trekking through the mountains, before his form finally did come across the den they all shared. His breath was ragged, coming in strained gulps from his long almost impossible run. His ears perked hoping to hear the two of them inside, before his body crawled in. Blues looking in and around before finding them. Again he didn’t say anything about what he had been doing, deciding it was best for now to keep fear and uncertainty out of the den, so the new mother and child could rest and bond. A nuzzle was his address, before he collapsed back down in exhaustion, resting his snout on X’y’s shoulders, still panting. “How are they doing?” he finally asked, trying to shift attention back to Nayru and the small pup. (this is the longest post I've written in awhile, guess it's because the two women who really bring out my muse happen to be in the thread >< 985 words yay) - Nayru - 01-04-2012
471 .nayruredskyooc {font-style:italic; color:#000000;} .nayruredsky p {padding:0px 20px 5px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .nayruredsky b {color:#796533; text-shadow: 0.0em 0.0em 0.2em #796533; letter-spacing:1px;} .nayruredsky {font-family: georgia; font-size:12px; color:#3F3C3C; letter-spacing:.2px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:15px; text-align: justify; margin:0px auto; margin:5px auto; width:465px;} .nayruredskyinner{background-color:#080808; background-image:url(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g210/ ... yrutab.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:200px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #080808; width:435px; border-radius:10px; -moz-border-radius:10px; -webkit-border-radius:10px; margin:0 auto;} </style>
- X'yrin Exultare - 01-05-2012
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b137/ ... eowl-1.jpg); background-color:#531F11; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: top; padding-bottom: 15px; padding-left: 5px; padding-right:5px; padding-top: 350px; border-radius:15px; -moz-border-radius:15px; -webkit-border-radius:15px; border-bottom-left-radius:15px; border-top-right-radius:15px; -moz-border-bottom-left-radius:15px; -webkit-border-top-right-radius:15px; -moz-border-bottom-left-radius:15px; -webkit-border-top-right-radius:15px;">
From the small mother, a name was breathed for the pup. Strange as it was for the Nomad, the woman respected the different culture, this bonding of mother to child through a name. Her own was not a gift from her dame, but from the gods themselves, acknowledged my her mind just becoming aware of its place within the world. When she could hear the sound of her own voice, she knew her name… and would do the same for her children when they were born. Yet, despite this difference, the was glad for the young mother and affectionately adorned her tired brow with a kiss.
Her mate had been as she was, still and helpless when the young woman succumbed to the savage pain of birth, but when the little girl was birth, he took charge of them both orchestrating what needs to be taken to ensure the mother and daughter were warm and well. While Saluce followed the blood trail outside the den, X’yrin complied without question to his command, gently urging the lady and pup into their room of the den. From her own bed she moved the blankets to surround the cold mother before settling around the pair again, the warmth of her side braced against the lady’s chilled back to give her support whilst her large head came around to set on the bed of fragrant needles.
The warrior said nothing to her Ryu still, only hoping that her fears would be calmed in due time, and perhaps an explanation when her beloved returned from the cold. But it was not hear that broke the unbearable news, but the mother herself as softly and plainly as if she were expressing a known fact. The golden head lifted in alarm, her eyes wide with terror for the news. She felt her heart clench painfully, the precious air stolen from her lungs as she could think of nothing to offer in condolence to the mother. Her voice could only produce soft whines of pain as she boldly neared her head to Nayru’s crown and offered gentle rasps of comfort. The loss of a child, she dared not think about, but was not blind to the possibility the same could happen to her. The danger was always lurking, a false move… a careless act… even the stress of duty could steal away the life she determinedly carried. But the Lady had been so careful until this day. It was terribly unfair… and if the mother would not cry for her lost pup, then her warrior would.
Saluce then crept into the den with the cold still clinging to his hide. He said nothing immediately that would give proof to the truth she now knew, but inquired about the resting pair while laying his head on her shoulder. The woman whimpered quietly, curling her muzzle around to grace her mate’s. A mournful glow cast down the brilliance of her amber gaze as she whispered the terrible news to his ears. “Nayru has lost a boy,” her vocals trembled with pain. “It was… the cause for her blood. Did you…” her troubled sights veered away, unable to hold his gaze. “Did you find him?”
- Saluce Tremblay - 01-07-2012 Saluce was still secretly fuming, unable to reasonably process the scene in front of him. Blue eyes returned to his mate for the time being remembering the week they had shared not too long ago. If the thief was still in Ichika then he’d make sure they came nowhere near the den site again. But his eyes fell back on the new mother, his mind still somewhat reeling from everything that had happened that morning. Soon though his eyes spied the little bundle of joy in her arms, he wanted to be happy, but his suspicions had been that this was Gideon’s daughter. But the little pup in her arms shared none of his markings, now did her oversized ears speak well toward who or what type of canine father it was. He hadn’t been there for the naming but it was probably just as well, since it would have churned his stomach. Saluce would have liked to think he wasn’t racist, but if he knew of the father and how absent, how utterly useless he had been, he’d break a rule he hadn’t broken in a long time. The question came while he was contemplating this visual evidence, processing it all in his mind before he snapped out of it. Another dilemma was upon him, would he bear the dirty little secrets of Ichika? It wasn’t his nature to lie, and keep things hidden but one thing hung on him before he answered. Upsetting the two women would do more harm than good right now so for now he figured it was best to just let it lie for now until the two of them where in a better mood to know the truth of it. “I buried him, Out on top of the mountain overlooking Ichika. When Nayru feels better I’ll take her there.” - Nayru - 01-08-2012
358 .nayruredskyooc {font-style:italic; color:#000000;} .nayruredsky p {padding:0px 20px 5px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .nayruredsky b {color:#796533; text-shadow: 0.0em 0.0em 0.2em #796533; letter-spacing:1px;} .nayruredsky {font-family: georgia; font-size:12px; color:#3F3C3C; letter-spacing:.2px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:15px; text-align: justify; margin:0px auto; margin:5px auto; width:465px;} .nayruredskyinner{background-color:#080808; background-image:url(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g210/ ... yrutab.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:200px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #080808; width:435px; border-radius:10px; -moz-border-radius:10px; -webkit-border-radius:10px; margin:0 auto;} </style>
|
