- Saul Stormbringer - 01-05-2012 Character Name: Saul Stormbringer (Temeraire Stormbringer NPC) Character Age: 21 months (21 days) Character Gender: Male Preferred Specialized Rank: Oshin OOC Name: Honey Other Characters Played: None OOC Second Form of Contact: fluffymonster123@aol.com
POST DATED January 10th 2012 He had no idea where to begin. In a sense that there was no beginning to the events that had occurred in the last few months, Saul Stormbringer was at a loss as to how he would explain his situation. He supposed, if he really thought hard about it, his life had gone wrong well before he’d even been born. The animosity, and often outright hatred of the Stormbringer and Dawnrunner packs had eventually resulted in the death of his mother and the abandonment of his father. The responsibility of the Stormbringer pups had fallen on Bris’s shoulders, but even that couldn’t last long. Unable to keep it together and hold all four pups in the same place at the same time, they were scattered across the lands like autumn leaves across a lake- soggy and floating, just managing to stay afloat until they drifted back together again. The male remembered, very succinctly, their coming of age party, where it had been the four of them together for the first time since they had arrived in Dahlia de Mai. The broken and throbbing hole in Saul’s chest stung horribly when he thought of those moments, the pure joy he’d felt from having all four of them together. It was all he ever wanted from the world, and it was also an impossible feat to replicate. No matter how hard he tried, his brothers and sister had other ideas. Eclipse had been born not long after that, but Conor and Bris were never designed to be parents together. Conor ended up dead and while Saul was mostly certain Bris was still alive, he had no clue as to where she was or what had become of her. History had repeated itself in an almost exact replica for Eclipse, although her mother was still alive and it had been her father who had been brutally murdered by a blood relative. The only difference really was that Eclipse was on her own- she didn’t have three other siblings to share her burden. .freeba703 b {font-weight:bold; color:#e7e1d8; letter-spacing:1px; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #18130b; } .freeba703 p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 16px; margin:0px;} .freeba703 {margin:0 auto; width:500px; background-color:#203341; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/sZvvY.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #041521; padding: 0px 0px 170px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#afb8c0; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #203341; letter-spacing:.6px; word-spacing:.9x; line-height:13.3px; text-align:justify;} .freeba703 p b:before { content: open-quote; } .freeba703 p b:after {content: close-quote; } </style> Words Not Counted In SoSuWriMo!
- Nayru - 01-05-2012
334 Only seven days old and the child already seemed to have doubled in size. Nayru did not know really how puppies grew or developed but simply continued to care for the blind and deaf ball of fur. The girl crawled about on the floor from time to time, getting nowhere fast, but mostly nursed and slept, which gave Nayru ample time to rest herself. The birth had been tiring and hardly had she left the den. There was little need to, X'yrin and Saluce both provided food and water and whatever else Nayru's childlike heart could possibly desire. The ache hadn't really left her body, and when she did emerge from the underground den it was with slow, pained movements. Once outside the den there was little to do but defecate, breath in some fresh air, and then return to Kahlo. It was on one such break that the call reached her. Tilting her head she caught the long song as it carried on the winds and she wondered if Saluce or Razekiel would go to him. Saul. He had come home? A fearful flutter grew in her chest, was Gideon with him? Shiloh? Any of them? Yet surely if any of the other Stormbringer clan had come they would have called out too. Nayru left the brief jolt of uncertainty flee from her as she threw back her own head and answered the call. That her brother-in-law of sorts should come back was not surprising, Nayru knew where the man's loyalties lay, but that it was so soon seemed strange. After Samhain was when the man had disappeared and Nayru realized it was exactly enough time to have missed her whole pregnancy and birth. Yet she could not go to him, and so her own call was one of summoning. The green eyed man did not need to stand at the borders, he was an Ichikan, and Nayru slipped back into the den, gathering up Kahlo to await the arrival of their brother. .Nayru-icecherry b {font-weight:bold; color:#151C18; letter-spacing:1px;} .Nayru-icecherry .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .Nayru-icecherry p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .Nayru-icecherry {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/c ... cherry.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #000000; padding: 255px 0px 10px 0px; font-family: georgia, sans-serif; font-size:12px; color:#620000; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.3px; text-align:justify;} .Nayru-icecherry {width:450px; border:2px solid #620000; margin:0 auto; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5x; box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -moz-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -webkit-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A;} </style>
- Saul Stormbringer - 01-05-2012
POST DATED January 10th 2012 The near silent squeal from the bundle in his arms was picked up immediately and Saul shifted the furs that surrounded his son to reveal his beautiful face. He could feel the overwhelming love filling his whole body as he stood there, waiting for someone to allow him access to his home. Temeraire was only a few weeks old and he had been away from his mother for less that two days. But he was hungry, he was tired and Saul knew that he needed to find someone to suckle him. His first thoughts had been Jace, who had given birth just after he'd left to find his family. She would be finishing her lactating period very soon, but there might be some hope there. Sighing softly, deft cream fingers brushed his sons downy fur away from his face before covering him back up with the fur. It was cold and this was really no place for a newborn pup. .freeba703 b {font-weight:bold; color:#e7e1d8; letter-spacing:1px; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #18130b; } .freeba703 p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 16px; margin:0px;} .freeba703 {margin:0 auto; width:500px; background-color:#203341; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/sZvvY.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #041521; padding: 0px 0px 170px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#afb8c0; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #203341; letter-spacing:.6px; word-spacing:.9x; line-height:13.3px; text-align:justify;} .freeba703 p b:before { content: open-quote; } .freeba703 p b:after {content: close-quote; } </style> 517
- Nayru - 01-05-2012
386 Nayru stood outside the den, empty of Saluce and X'yrin that day, cradling her own small bundle against the elements. It was the first time the child had ever been outside of the den and the helpless thing squalled in protest to the frigid air. Nayru smiled at the small creature and brought her closer, covering her face with the small pelt she had wrapped the babe in. They wouldn't be in the cold long and the fresh air would do no harm to the child. It was not long before the party arrived before her. Man, with horse in tow, and a strange package in his own arms. When Saul Stormbringer had come close enough Nayru scarcely heard his words as she peered at the precious cargo he carried. Ruby eyes widened in surprise, but then, why should she bear children and not he? Or was it his? In a distant way she thought of Salvador and his lost body. Yet quickly she chased the fantasy away and only shook her head at the man. "No point in being sorry, Saul." An icy gust brought her back to the present, the two of them standing out in the cold. Kahlo's protests grew louder and Nayru softly hushed the child, locking eyes with Saul in a knowing way. This was not Gideon's baby, the thing was clearly more coyote than either Nayru or Gideon could ever hope to be. Her eyes wandered to the boy Saul clung to. Siku's? It did not matter, what mattered then was getting in out of the cold. Silently she motioned for the pup and holding two, as she should always be she reminded herself and felt the wave of anguish flood her once more, she wiggled her way back into the den that entrance was too small for the typical optime form. Once inside she did not retreat into her own smaller room, but stayed out in the bigger common room. If Saluce or X'yrin were to return they would find them here, and it was a comfortable enough place to talk while the two old friends sort out what had gone wrong and when and why and what they would do now. Now that they both possessed squirming, squeaking children that hadn't been in existence at the friends' parting. .Nayru-icecherry b {font-weight:bold; color:#151C18; letter-spacing:1px;} .Nayru-icecherry .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .Nayru-icecherry p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .Nayru-icecherry {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/c ... cherry.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #000000; padding: 255px 0px 10px 0px; font-family: georgia, sans-serif; font-size:12px; color:#620000; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.3px; text-align:justify;} .Nayru-icecherry {width:450px; border:2px solid #620000; margin:0 auto; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5x; box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -moz-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -webkit-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A;} </style>
- Saul Stormbringer - 01-05-2012
POST DATED January 10th 2012 It wasn't until then that Saul noted the near identical pose the two old friends shared. One arm cradled protectively around a bundle of furs that had begun to wriggle and squirm as another blast of cold air blew past them. Green eyes met cherry red as he tried to put dates together. The child in Nayru's arms was clearly hers- whilst Saul knew she liked pups, she would never have been holding another pup in this way. And he clearly understood that it was not Gideon's. At the same time, her own eyes dropped to the dark bundle in his own arms and Saul offered a sheepish smile. It was rather ironic, the situation the two now found themselves in. Her gentle voice, sounding weak to his own ears, told him that there was no need for him to be sorry. He perhaps might have protested before, but he allowed her the words with a simple inclination of his head. .freeba703 b {font-weight:bold; color:#e7e1d8; letter-spacing:1px; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #18130b; } .freeba703 p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 16px; margin:0px;} .freeba703 {margin:0 auto; width:500px; background-color:#203341; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/sZvvY.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #041521; padding: 0px 0px 170px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#afb8c0; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #203341; letter-spacing:.6px; word-spacing:.9x; line-height:13.3px; text-align:justify;} .freeba703 p b:before { content: open-quote; } .freeba703 p b:after {content: close-quote; } </style> 528
- Nayru - 01-08-2012
552 Thank you Nayru. The girl nodded and cradled the two living things to her, Kahlo now quiet that she was once again inside the familiar warmth of the den and Saul's son still squirming with discontent. The child instinctively had begun burrowing into Nayru, searching for something Kahlo was already full of, but Nayru hesitated and held back. Holding the two reminded her that she had lost one, and though it was not uncommon for not all to make it through the litter Salvador's death hung heavy on her heart from time to time. More so than the boy's actual death it was the woman's words that clung to her. Lilin. The dirt and oil toned woman, her split face sneering, had sensed death within Nayru's womb and warned her, before Pripyat had chased the crazed woman away. Had the woman truly known? Nayru sighed and turned her eyes up to Saul. Sooner or later one of them would have to ask. How did this happen? Whose is it? And though she thought perhaps Saul would be the first—for she was still very tired and worn from the actual birthing—her too seemed weary and it was not Nayru's way to beat around the bush. Simply she passed her daughter off near Saul, settling the girl to sleep near the man while clinging still to his son, and peering down into the boy's face as she spoke. "Her name is Kahlo. Kahlo Lykoi." Surely the man would recognize the surname of their Seiryu, and if not, Kahlo's features were not entirely wolf like. "She came to me at Samhain." Nayru did not wish to admit she remembered very little of this, and that she had wandered for weeks ill and vomiting until it was Razekiel himself that had revealed the life growing within her. How naive the Jiryu had been. "I couldn't stay in Cerne Rise after Gideon and I fell apart. I'm sorry for that." She had been the first to leave, to start the slow trickle that turned to flood as each and every soul fled from the apartment complex. "I hadn't anywhere to live and the pregnancy—and birth—were both very hard on me so X'ryin and Saluce took me in. I still am too weak to move around much." Nayru cringed at the memory of the two children, such helpless creatures in themselves but so large compared to her own thin, tiny frame—their bodies trying to rip their own mother in half in had seemed. Ruby eyes found Saul's emerald ones and lingered there, her head tilted as if to say Now then, any questions? before turning her attention back to the boy in her arm. Kahlo settled into an easy sleep and the boy continued to whine and search for something Nayru withheld. This was not her son, and it felt strange to have the hungry babe so close with her denying it, but she waited on a request Saul surely would speak soon enough. Simply she could not take his child over without his person. The bond that might grow between mother and foster child was not for her to decide, instead she only glance back up, thought of her own dead son and wondered if everything happened for a reason. "He seems hungry." .Nayru-icecherry b {font-weight:bold; color:#151C18; letter-spacing:1px;} .Nayru-icecherry .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .Nayru-icecherry p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .Nayru-icecherry {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/c ... cherry.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #000000; padding: 255px 0px 10px 0px; font-family: georgia, sans-serif; font-size:12px; color:#620000; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.3px; text-align:justify;} .Nayru-icecherry {width:450px; border:2px solid #620000; margin:0 auto; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5x; box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -moz-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -webkit-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A;} </style>
- Saul Stormbringer - 01-08-2012
POST DATED January 10th 2012 The little female in Nayru's arms quietened as they entered the den, lulled into sleep it seemed by a full belly and her mothers comforting arms. His son, on the other hand, was beginning to squeak with much more consistence. It was a relief, first of all, that his son had such a strong voice. He was neither sick nor weak and while it was vital he get some food into his son soon, Saul was a little less concerned that he would fall into illness. The stand off between the two of them was not uncomfortable- the two of them stared at each other for a long moment, both trying to figure out what was happening and who was going to break the silence first. It was Nayru it seemed as she shifted her own daughter in her arms, placing her gently on the floor close to Saul. Saul dipped his head down, black nose pressing against the girls fur once before Nayru spoke. Kahlo. He looked up, puzzled, as Nayru offered her last name. So Razekiel was the father? .freeba703 b {font-weight:bold; color:#e7e1d8; letter-spacing:1px; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #18130b; } .freeba703 p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 16px; margin:0px;} .freeba703 {margin:0 auto; width:500px; background-color:#203341; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/sZvvY.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #041521; padding: 0px 0px 170px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#afb8c0; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #203341; letter-spacing:.6px; word-spacing:.9x; line-height:13.3px; text-align:justify;} .freeba703 p b:before { content: open-quote; } .freeba703 p b:after {content: close-quote; } </style> 623
- Nayru - 01-08-2012
699 Nayru had said nothing when Saul guessed the name of the father. It had only been once and the memory was a hazy one at best. The good hearted man was kind to her, even still, but she denied his help stubbornly. Nayru did not wish to be tied to any one man again, the suffocation she had felt under Gideon, the dissatisfaction at their relationship and lack of passion, clung to her. To live with another, have him be father to her child? It was unthinkable. No, better to be under the care of X'yrin, and accept that of Saluce, who seemed to take more offense to Nayru's single motherhood than she did herself. So simply she nodded, a small indication that she wished to say no more of the matter. Yet other questions came forth, naturally, jumbled in with Saul's own story. Nayru tried to slip in the words, and they both spoke at a slow and steady pace. There was no rush within the walls of the den. As Saul revealed the boy's name, Nayru looked closely at the face, trying to put the two together. Temeraire. Yet as she glanced down at the boy's face, the names she spoke had nothing to do with him. "Melee and Range both still live in Ichika, though I see then hardly at all. Melee had been coming now and then to help in the winery, but when she learned I became pregnant, not by Gideon, she came less and less." The girl had always been so sensitive about the relationship surrounding Nayru and Gideon. Finally she had accepted their mateship, and then it had fallen apart on the girl. Range was more resilient, but rebellious in his own way and simply made himself scarce. The two Soul children wandered about Ichika like ghosts, reminding Nayru very much of her own youth in Dahlia de Mai. There but not. At Saul's next words Nayru grew embarrassed, but allowed the child finally to receive what he had been asking for most demandingly. As the boy found the woman's teat he knew precisely what to do with it and Nayru did not look at Saul as this happened, only let his words wash over her as she cradled the eagerly feeding child. It was evident he had not eaten in far too long. "I… I can raise him with Kahlo…" Of course she could, and would, though as she looked down her heart sank. Not Siku's then? She thought of her ivory friend, what had become of the girl? But it did not matter. Not Gideon's. Not Siku's. Nayru's and Saul's at least. That was enough. More questions came and Nayru was glad of the distraction. Of course Saul would ask after Saluce, and Nayru smiled then, warmly at Saul in an ironic way. "Saluce? He returned nearly right after you went away. He asked about you, but I didn’t know what to say. Only that you'd probably be back." And the man had come back and Nayru smiled warmly at who she still considered her brother. Saluce would be happy to come home and find the man sitting in the den with her. And surprised too to find little Temeraire alongside Kahlo. Nayru laughed aloud at the scene that would surely unfold soon enough. The happiness she felt at the reunion of Saluce and Saul quickly left her as Saul spoke the other name. Gideon? He had seen Gideon? Nayru had thought of the boy often, but hardly with any real feeling. She hadn't allowed that. Hadn't allowed to try and work out what had gone wrong, and when exactly or why. Only that he was gone and that probably he would come back. Yet Saul's words spoke differently and a sting came to Nayru that she didn't think she would feel again. Why had her best friend abandoned her? Yet she could not ask, did not show any hurt in her own voice, but merely nodded, her soft voice as soft as ever. "Okay." And that was that before moving on, or rather backwards to, what was for her, a happier conversation. "Saluce may be home any moment now." .Nayru-icecherry b {font-weight:bold; color:#151C18; letter-spacing:1px;} .Nayru-icecherry .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .Nayru-icecherry p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .Nayru-icecherry {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/c ... cherry.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #000000; padding: 255px 0px 10px 0px; font-family: georgia, sans-serif; font-size:12px; color:#620000; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.3px; text-align:justify;} .Nayru-icecherry {width:450px; border:2px solid #620000; margin:0 auto; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5x; box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -moz-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -webkit-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A;} </style>
- Saul Stormbringer - 01-08-2012
POST DATED January 10th 2012 Saul could feel the pain in this conversation as if it were a slice to his wrist, or a punch in the gut. There was a certain bittersweet taste in the air- Saul's relief and happiness at being back in Ichika, with his son safe and feeding, and his joy at seeing Nayru again. Whilst the relationship that had officially tied Nayru to him as 'sister-in-law' had disintegrated, Saul would never consider her anything less than his sister. And now they were both in the same situation- with pups that had not stemmed from the relationships they had been in that they should have, both facing single parenthood alone. In that way, the two would never be alone in their situations. The bitterness came from the family he'd lost, his loved ones scattered across the lands. If there was one thing he'd learnt from this experience, it was the fact that he could not control his families lives. .freeba703 b {font-weight:bold; color:#e7e1d8; letter-spacing:1px; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #18130b; } .freeba703 p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 16px; margin:0px;} .freeba703 {margin:0 auto; width:500px; background-color:#203341; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/sZvvY.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #041521; padding: 0px 0px 170px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#afb8c0; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #203341; letter-spacing:.6px; word-spacing:.9x; line-height:13.3px; text-align:justify;} .freeba703 p b:before { content: open-quote; } .freeba703 p b:after {content: close-quote; } </style> 584
- Nayru - 01-08-2012
409 Nayru said nothing as Saul resolved to find Melee and Range. They were out of her hands, doing their own thing. If they chose to leave, that was their own doing, but they stayed, moved among the Ichikans like ghosts. Perhaps Saul could give them the family ties that Gideon had severed, perhaps they were happy with their existence as it was but Nayru said nothing. She only nodded as Saul agreed to the arrangement between them, about Temeraire and and Kahlo. They were the future, they were the ones that needed her now. Nayru knew she had no choice but to devote herself to the small, helpless beings one hundred percent until they became their own, self sufficient entities. Nayru ears perked as Saul expressed gratitude at the couple taking in Nayru. Her ears fell back, again she felt a burden, like some homeless beggar. Saluce saw her as irresponsible, X'yrin she felt saw her as silly and stubborn and what did Saul think of the Jiryu, so helpless as to need force herself upon the newly mated couple? Yet she said nothing, only nodded again, seeming to have lapsed into silence as Saul spoke on. Saul would see Saluce soon, and probably for many days after. Temeraire would have to stay within the den, with Kahlo and herself and so if Saul did not stay himself he would be coming and going an awful lot. Just then Nayru turned to Saul, where would the green eyed man stay? "You can stay in my room, with me and the pups if you'd like." Nayru motioned with her muzzle to one of the smaller passages breaking off from the big room. The room had been dug out by Saluce before the birth, and was big enough to fit Nayru and another comfortably enough. Surely Saul wouldn't wish to stay there forever, but for the time being he probably wouldn't wish to be away from his son either. That she did not ask Saluce or X'yrin did not bother her, Saluce would never turn the man away and X'yrin would not question the Jiryu. Besides, Sarian was already a frequent figure in the ever growing household. Soon enough they would crowd each other out, too much energy in too small of a space, but for now it made sense. They were family after all, close quarters only reassured them at night of the other's presence, sturdy and safe and stable.

All the questions building in his head were beginning to dissipate and the young male was beginning to feel the drag on his body. He still had relatively precious cargo strapped to his faithful steed and while Saul was certain Hermes' body warmth would keep certain objects warm enough to be kept alive. Saul wasn't certain that the egg he'd found had anything living in it, but there was a chance that there could be a bird in there and Saul had scooped the hard shell up, just in case. Whether it would hatch or not was surely touch and go for the poor egg and Saul had strapped it quickly to Hermes' side in an attempt to keep it warm. He would need to check it soon, but for now, his quiet conversation with his leader. .freeba703 b {font-weight:bold; color:#e7e1d8; letter-spacing:1px; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #18130b; } .freeba703 p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 16px; margin:0px;} .freeba703 {margin:0 auto; width:500px; background-color:#203341; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/sZvvY.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #041521; padding: 0px 0px 170px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#afb8c0; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #203341; letter-spacing:.6px; word-spacing:.9x; line-height:13.3px; text-align:justify;} .freeba703 p b:before { content: open-quote; } .freeba703 p b:after {content: close-quote; } </style> 459
- Nayru - 01-10-2012
Wee kin haf Matt post naw if hee wants? This post is kakapoopoo. 412 Nayru did not mind as the conversation dwindled between them. In many ways she was more comfortable with silence, and she could have easily lapsed into an easy slumber as Kahlo had already done and Temeraire seemed to be following suit as his hunger subsided. The girl had never been one for many words, it was only with those she felt closest to that she spoke freely and often, and even then it was in the quiet hush that was almost as soft as silence. And so Nayru did not try to find words to fill in the spaces between her and Saul, she only watched him with accepting eyes, eyes that saw quite clearly he belonged here as much as she. The man shifted her daughter and Nayru watched and wondered at how natural his handling of the babe was. Her own maternal instinct had taken the painful birthing to jump start its self and even after she had felt awkward at times, fumbling with Kahlo as no natural born mother would. Yet with only a few days practice and Nayru knew well enough what to do, and Temeraire seemed not to notice if the strange lady holding him was not a pro at mothering. The boy, deaf and blind but not completely unaware had taken to her well enough. Kahlo too seemed comfortable with the man whose warmth she benefitted from and Nayru wondered if it should not be Gideon there. Quickly she shook away the thought; it was not so and so it did not matter. Saul accepted the offer, and Nayru was not surprised. Nor was she surprised at his suggestion of leaving behind Saluce and X'yrin's den for a place of their own. There were few other options, save for Saul completely handing his only child over --which was out of the question and Nayru had never considered it a possibility. To so quickly turn away from the kindness that the couple had offered Nayru seemed a shame, but surely they would wish for their privacy back and with Saul on the lookout for Nayru and the children the Jiryu doubted very much that Saluce would put up too much of a protest. Simply she nodded, her small voice confirming only what they both already knew. "Yes. Of course." And so it was decided, and it felt not strange at all to once more be living alongside Saul, even in a more intimate situation than previously.

Being the eldest of four, he'd always felt responsible for his siblings and the need to look after them had always been strong. The natural motion of curling Nayru's daughter up in his arm was something that he hadn't thought too much about- it was more an instinct to protect the weak and vulnerable. It was clear to him that her daughter was just over a week old, while Temeraire was approaching three weeks old, but the small age difference wouldnt matter. While Temeraire would be released from the den sooner than Kahlo, Saul was certain that it wouldnt matter to either pup. The gentle silence that had encapsulated both of them was a comfort to him- it reassured him that he didnt need to fill the silences with Nayru. .freeba703 b {font-weight:bold; color:#e7e1d8; letter-spacing:1px; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #18130b; } .freeba703 p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 16px; margin:0px;} .freeba703 {margin:0 auto; width:500px; background-color:#203341; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/sZvvY.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #041521; padding: 0px 0px 170px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#afb8c0; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em #203341; letter-spacing:.6px; word-spacing:.9x; line-height:13.3px; text-align:justify;} .freeba703 p b:before { content: open-quote; } .freeba703 p b:after {content: close-quote; } </style> 423
|
