Near the Great Lake (VN side of course) Optime form, Have a quoll pup His life had changed again; he had finally reached his destination of Nova Scotia, but now he was here he didn't know what to do. On his numerous travels he had heard that this country was a place of safety and community for many Two-legs and Four-legs alike, but then he had wandered for so long he was unsure if he could ever settle in one place. He thought back to his awakening on the shores of this new land, and the golden furred woman who had found him. He smirked to himself; settling down with something that pretty wouldn't be so bad. His smirk fell from his muzzle as he remembered the little details of that meeting; she hadn't seemed all that interested in him, she was a match for him in sarcasm, and her fur reminded him of home and his family. Even before her days in Vinatta, Andara had loved the water. Easily, this love expanded to the Grand Lake. Although it was true that there had been her first encounter with Percival the pirate, she still held the scenery here close at heart. Now, though, she stayed on the Vinattan side of the territory, knowing that the other side held neutral lands. Andy wasn't much in the mood for tangling with many strangers, so she stayed as close to the pack as she could while still being able enjoy the lake. A splash echoed off of the open water as she dove in, her thin frame slicing quickly through the water despite her fur. She felt dirty, and the cold water helped to rinse away the grime. Last time she'd been here, she'd been so hungry. But this time, her stomach was full, and she had a whole pack to defend her. Any fear she had should have subsided, but Andara remained alert while she swam. Her guard should never be down, especially at sea. Or lake. Still, it took her a moment to notice the unfamiliar scent on the air. The briney, thick cloud of lake musk that filled her nostrils had taken over her senses as the russet and cream girl paddled about, scrubbing at her body here and there. When the strange scent finally hit her, though, she stiffened. Her small ears perked as high as they could and her head turned, nose searching for a stronger whiff. Andy found her thin legs carrying her soaking body out of the lake and onto the shore, her bright lilacs searching the treeline for the owner of the scent. Had she heard laughter? Or had that been a bird? She couldn't tell, so she just stood there, watching, waiting. All the while, water pooled at her feet, dripping from nose and tail. <style type="text/css"> .kudara .space {width:240px; height:300px; float:right;} .kudara b {font-weight:bold; color:#87382e; letter-spacing:1px;} .kudara p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 15px; margin:0px;} .kudara {margin:0px auto; max-width:600px; width:90%; min-width:500px; background-color:#b6733e; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/jKRsQ.png); background-position:top right; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #623e21; padding:5px 0px; font-family:georgia; font-size:11px; color:#623e21; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.5px;} </style>
- Baird Byrne - 07-15-2012
Word Count :: 424Excuse his Australian slang, he likes it when people don't understand him. Baird rounded the southern end of the pack borders and the lake came into sight. He grinned as he spotted the shimmering water, stepping up his pace. One of the little male pups squeaked as Baird started to jog, the change in pace taking him by surprise. Baird was saved from comforting the little lad as his sister snuggled into his side instead, the dingo man smiled again, pleased that the little girl had taken the initiative. The crack of wing feathers and a swooping blur of brown, white and iridescent blue alerted him to Gelars presence as the kookaburra flew alongside him. His toes hit the water and the pups and Pan bailed realising what he was planning, Gelar circled high overhead and watched, issuing a loud stream of laughter as his dingo brother dove into the clear, clean lake. Baird sighed happily as the cool water enveloped his body, it had been a long time since he'd been anywhere near a fresh water source. He swam about a bit before turning his gaze back to the shore where he saw his pups frolicking in the shallows, Pan washing herself and keeping a watchful eye on the pups, and Gelar perched in a nearby tree, preening. His verdant gaze swept along the shore a little, taking in the scenery, until they fell on the slight form of another Two-legs. He froze for a moment, was this a member of the pack come to tell him to bugger off? He swam to the shore, scooping up his three remaining quoll pups into his arms, Pan leaped at him and scrambled up his body to settle on his shoulder. Instead, his fur was short and blonde, with a creamy stomach like herself. He was much bigger than her, though, something she sadly realized when he got closer. Maybe one day she would get bigger. At first, she'd thought he was carrying an armful of furs, but then she realized that they were moving. The brown spotty things that were squirming in the yellow-furred stranger's arms were not like any creature Andy had seen before. Her brows furrowed at the odd animals, before her lilac gaze noticed the larger one coiled over his shoulder. This guy can't be from around here, she thought, and remembered Percival's similarly colored coat and strange accent. Sure enough, the words that came out of this man's mouth were unrecognizable. Andy at least recognized something that sounded like 'good day', and so she assumed he was being friendly. But he also called her a 'young'in', which she didn't think she liked very much. Some of the other words were familiar, too, so he must have been speaking the same language that she knew. "I'm not that young!" she exclaimed angrily, responding to the most insulting part of his sentence. She chose to ignore the rest, pushing her messy, dripping hair out of her eyes and crossing her arms. "What kind of rats are those?" she asked, staring at the creatures intently. Their tails weren't naked like a rat's, and they were a bit bigger, but it was the only similar animal that she knew. She wondered if these made good prey, too, but by the way he carried them she thought they might not be for that. omg i'm posting ; ; .vamodara {background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/ZpBZa.png); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:top center; background-color:#91463a; width:500px; margin:0px auto; text-align: justify; padding:290px 0px 5px 0px; color:#250000; font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; line-height:16px; word-spacing:.3px; border:1px solid #250000;} .vamodara b {color:#be817a; letter-spacing:1px; text-shadow:#250000 0px 0px 2px;} .vamodara p { text-indent:0px; padding:5px 15px; margin:0px; } .vamodara p.ooc {font-style:italic; font-size:11px; border-top:1px dotted #be817a; margin:15px 15px 0px;} .vamodara .wordcount {letter-spacing:0px;font-weight:bold; font-size:11px; text-align:right; padding:0px 5px; text-transform:uppercase; float:right; margin:20px;}</style>
- Baird Byrne - 07-30-2012
Word Count :: 226 Sorry for the wait sweetheart, also for the shortness of the post. Baird had noticed the way her lilac eyes flicked over his fur, and then over the quolls. He raised his arms and ushered the young pups onto his broad shoulders where they curled themselves against his neck. He retained the grin and raised his hand-paws, as if to defend himself from physical attack, as she blurted out that she wasn't a 'young'un'. He laughed and let his tail flick slowly from side to side behind him. "No offence meant Ma'am. You're a regular granny, obviously." Playful sarcasm dripped from his words and he descended into laughter for a few moments, Gelar didn't quite understand the meaning behind the laughter but couldn't help joining in, his loud cackle reverberating out across the lake. He laughed, though, and soon the bird joined in too. The russet girl took a half step back, her little ears pinning to her head in annoyance at the sound. It was strange, and so was the bird. Everything about this man and his company was foreign to her. The fuzzy, spotty rats now crawling all across his shoulders were cute, in a way, and she really did want to touch one. Australia. Another unknown name; was that a pack, or a country? "Where's that?" she asked aloud, now moving forward again as she watched the little pups, her tail flicking excitedly. "I came from Africa," she shared quietly, running thin fingers through her damp hair while she eyed him. One of the little quoll puppies slid down his nose adorably, and Andara blinked at it, watching as he pet the little thing with ease. When he offered the pup up, though, she recoiled, unsure, wide lilacs sensing the pup feeling the same way. A second later, though, the brown fuzzy creature reached out its tiny little hands to her, as if it understood what he'd said. It took a moment, but Andara nodded hesitantly and reached out and took the babe from him, staring down at her with wide eyes. She took two creamy fingers and passed them softly over the fur of the pup. When the little one didn't object, she continued, but kept an eye on the mother, knowing how protective creatures could be of their young. i don't mind short! seems to be mostly all i can do lately anyways haha .vamodara {background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/ZpBZa.png); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:top center; background-color:#91463a; width:500px; margin:0px auto; text-align: justify; padding:290px 0px 5px 0px; color:#250000; font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; line-height:16px; word-spacing:.3px; border:1px solid #250000;} .vamodara b {color:#be817a; letter-spacing:1px; text-shadow:#250000 0px 0px 2px;} .vamodara p { text-indent:0px; padding:5px 15px; margin:0px; } .vamodara p.ooc {font-style:italic; font-size:11px; border-top:1px dotted #be817a; margin:15px 15px 0px;} .vamodara .wordcount {letter-spacing:0px;font-weight:bold; font-size:11px; text-align:right; padding:0px 5px; text-transform:uppercase; float:right; margin:20px;}</style>
- Baird Byrne - 08-12-2012
Word Count :: 488Eeee. Quoll cuddles XD. Finish this up soon? Baird was incredibly amused by the young girl and her determination. She wasn't overly trusting, nor was she bubbly and vivacious, for that Baird was thankful. Girls like that gave him headaches, but the little red furred lass was fun, and almost as stubborn as himself. She seemed to be glaring at him, he was used to that, her glare was nothing compared to his sisters back home. Anya had perfected the withering glare, enough to scare him and his gargantuan brother Cole, so this girls lilac stare didn't have much effect on the tall dingo man.
