- Haku Soul - 01-01-2009
This pack hunt thread is not mandatory, but all are encouraged to join, even our small puppies. Set early morning, First of January.
The new year was ahead and Dahlia had grown and shrunk, changing almost as much as the seasons it changed with. The sun was on its way up to meet the new day, and the tawny Lilium lifted his creamy head greeted the circle of light with a howl going out to every adult member of the pack. His face dipped down again, and the brute’s body jolted when a dry sneeze forced itself out. It was more important to hunt together now than it had been, to support those unable to catch their own game. Truth be told, he knew little of how skilled the children were, but Svara (he actually knew the girl’s name now) had seemed very content by emptying his kitchen whenever he was out.
He shook his head and let a sigh out as he sat down on his hunches to wait for the rest of the pack to gather. The ideal would have been to have all the members here, but it was likely to only be wishful thinking. Today’s menu was a pair of deer, one stag and one dove, Haku hoped they would be able to get them both. The game had seemed to camp in the curved river section in Oberon’s Spring, and had placed themselves so foolishly that they simply did not deserve to live. The plan was that they would not. - Svara Thames - 01-01-2009
- Cwmfen nic Graine - 01-01-2009
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j40/k ... mfenv2.png); background-position: center center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> 700+ The day was still early as the years turned. On this day, the time turned to a new page, a page that had yet to be filled. Its blank crispness was reflected in the atmosphere in the world. Cwmfen had occupied herself by digging a den. She was not pregnant, but she needed a place to keep her belongings now that she had acquired some. Because she did not want to claim one of the human remains or carry a pack of some sort, she thought that a traditional den would be fitting, especially for her. As the black luperci wandered the packlands several days prior, she had come across an old fox den. While definitely too small, it was in a perfect location—nestled in the crook of two great trees overlooking a small brook. While haunting in the winter, it would be beautiful in the spring and summer. Considering this a fine find, the woad warrior shifted and commenced with the digging. The exercise was appreciated, and she dug diligently and without complaint. The Raven watched from a nearby tree, just as silent as his mistress. Occasionally, he would turn his good eye towards Cwmfen’s spear leaning upon the trunk, but otherwise he seemed quite content with watching the black she-wolf gradually disappear into the earth. She had dug much earth from the small fox’s den, and as the sun rose above the earth, she was finishing the final touches. Inside, there was much room for her to move comfortably as well as enough space to keep her spear and many other things should she find a need to acquire other belongings. With a content wag of her tail, the she wolf smiled and continued out, moving the dirt off to one side. Perhaps she’d plant some woad in the spring. She would be needing it, after all. The woad-marked body became rigid, and her ears pricked forward as the call cut though the Dahlian lands. She recognized that voice. Haku. He called to all the members, and he called for a hunt. Her tail flicked thoughtfully and the white orbs turned towards the caller. He was not far and a hunt would be appropriate.... She seemed conflicted, but in the end, she decided that her den could wait. Quickly, she trotted to her spear, lifting it in her maw. Carrying the weapon was awkward for the wolf because of its length, but she managed to place it in the beginning tunnel portion of her dwelling. It would be good enough for now. Then she made a quick roll in the dirt, marking the place as hers, before setting out in a swift but easy lope. The Raven, with a croaked caw followed after her, flying low enough to be able to brush his feathers against her graceful body. The woad warrior found the chocolate Lilium easily. His scent was familiar in strong as she neared the place of his location, and she could not help but remember the one night they had shared during her Long Nights. It was probably meaningless, she had decided, and so she tried to forget it. It was all in vain. When the white orbs were able to pick out his form, she gathered herself up, placing such thoughts deep within the recesses of her mind. Her graceful movements slowed to a slow walk as she approached the larger male. There was a new scent present, and the white orbs of the woad-marked female flickered across to the sitting figure. Briefly, she awknowledged the female pup (she wasn't too fond of pups) before turning to the Lilium. "Haku," she greeted quietly, her silver-toned melody almost holding a lighthearted quality. A friendly smile graced her maw as she acknowledged his higher rank with brief posturing. It was as if nothing had ever happened. She was good at this game, having played it all her life. For now, she occupied her mind with thoughts of being able to apply the skills that Slay had taught her in this hunt. And the prospect of a pack hunt did, indeed, excite the woman. With a silent thunder of wings, her Dream settled silently in a nearby tree. - Flayra Zazkex - 01-01-2009
OOC: Thought Flayra should get used to hunting. WC: 826 The silence in the forest of Dahlia de Mai was pleasant, however could easily be well broken. The only thing there was mainly were a few birds, lots and lots of trees, smll animals, and shrubs that can survive during the snow. Some creatures hibernate until spring, that's when they come out to restock on food for next winter. It is amazing the these animals know ways to survive during winters. Others are out every single day, trying to find food in the harsh snowstorms, or freezing mountains. Doing something like that is life threatening, but they still do it. It's either their nature, they are daredevils, or they are just stupid to think before they act. When doing that, they can become an easy target for other predators. Wolves somethings catch some animals trying to find food for themselves. Herds pretend they don't see anything when one of them walks off and gets eaten. So lazy they don't even bother looking. Well, they are stupid some of them. In a way, they deserve it for not being extra careful. There are some small birds that live as a flock. The more the birds, the more the watchful eyes. While most of them are chatting amongst themselves, some of the other ones just keep a look out for anything that they may consider dangerous. That would be considered as teamwork. Like everyone says, there is no I in team. There was a young pup and a hawk that worked as a team, protection, watchful eyes, and help. The pup, Flayra, and the hawk, Neon, were wondering through the forest of the winter wonderland. The snow covered the trees and the brown earth with it's whitey goodness. White patches of snow were found under trees were the snow couldn't get to it properly. Some grass and shrubs were still present because of their slight immunity to the harsh cold. Small animals sometimes eats this stuff, then when there is none left, they look for more somewhere else. A good way of survival. Neon was looking almost in every direction, keeping an eye out for any danger, and animals that worth hunting for. From a low altitude, he couldn't see much. With a few beats of his wings, he took flight to a near by tree. Perching upon a branch, he continued to look around. Still he couldn't see anything. Flayra looked up at him as he was searching. "See anything yet? Flay asked him. Neon looked giving a look that was sort of saying no. Flay gave a light sigh at his reply, and looked around and took a wiff of the air. Because of her young, and because of the winter season, she couldn't smell anything that's from a long distance. Though she liked winter, it had a slight flaw for her, interferring with her sense of smell. Neon was also affected, however, not as bad as Flayra's. Flay could only smell a certain range, while Neon could smell a bit farther than her. Neon could also see long distances, but in snowstorms, all he could see was white. However, there wasn't a storm, so he could see well, but nothing. Flayra looked back to him and said, "I can't either." Neon took another look around, but still nothing, so he was gonna take off again. With one flap of his wings, that's all he did. He got some snow dropped on him that fell off one of the branches. His feathers were covered in snow. Flay saw it and couldn't help, but laugh. Neon just watched her as she laughed. The laughter was soon to be broken by a howl from a familiar voice. Haku. He was calling about a hunt. Flay was excited to hear about it, but thought if she was sort of ready to hunt. Well, with Neon on her side, she could probably succeed. Neon finished shaking the snow off when he heard the call. Flay was quick to act and said, "Neon, lets go." She then bolted to where Haku was calling from with Neon flying behind her keeping up to her speed. Though she had the scar on her arm, she could still run. The was still covered with the cloth, taking the little bits of snow that flew up from the ground when Flay was running. Then a small group of wolves came into view. One was Haku, the other Svara, and another that had blue markings on her body. Flay didn't meet her yet. She started to slow from running to walking, coming up next to the blue marked female. "Hi there," she said to the group as she looked at them. Neon started to slow down as he flew to tree branch. He perched himself on a branch that had another bird, or a raven to be exact. Neon, however, didn't annoy it. Instead he remained quietly while he watched the Flay joined the small group. - Firefly Sadira - 01-01-2009 -ooc don't know what use Firefly would be, but she's here- She was so tempted to ignore the call of her mate, but the thought that if Cercelee was present she might wonder why the bronzen woman wasn't hunting, it was one of the many duties that the pack performed and she figured that she was expected to follow along as well. Growling as the voice of her mate as it called through the air she shook her head and walked slowly along the path towards the springs. The scent of the young annoyance that had taken over Haku's home was before her as she not so gracefully moved down the trail. Firefly could hear the others before her as she joined the small group, her orbs trailed over those there as she narrowed her eyes at Haku and Svara. She would so love to tear into the damn child but she wasn't willing to risk her position in the pack with another screw up.. but accidents did happen. She bared her fangs with a slight smile at the group as she came into the open. Flicking her tail back and forth she wished that they weren't after game that actually required a pack to track it down. She almost expected Haku to send her off but another part of her argued that he would rather see the puppies she was carrying miscarried and in some way she felt the same. She couldn't help it that it was natural to feel protective of the parasites as well. Life was funny thatway. When she stood in the open the bronze and gold woman nodded to the gathering as she moved close to her mate. She knew he hated the sight of the pregnancy that he'd helped her to accomplish and so she would remind him every chance she got until she was given what she wanted. Poor Haku, he fucked up now she'd force him to pay the price. Her emerald eyes scanned the others who'd gathered as she remained quiet, there was little to say beyond hello and she didn't feel the need to even state the obvious since everyone else already was. They knew who she was, and if they didn't they sure would learn quickly. - Lubomir Varg - 01-04-2009

- Haku Soul - 01-09-2009
1000+ Okay, posting order ; Svara, Cwmfen, Flayra, Firefly, Lubomir, Cercelee and Slay. To not drag it out too long, if a reply is not posted within three days after his/her turn, that person will be skipped for that turn.
The second to arrive was therapy to the vision. With her, the memories from that particular night came back headstrong and teased him with brief images and her scent. It seemed to fade away when she addressed him politely and greeted him as her leader. They had not talked about what had happened, and by her careful way of acting normal around him, he assumed it had been nothing more than an insignificant one night stand, and he scolded himself silently for being so foolish to have believed that it perhaps had meant a bit more to both of them. His response was just a nod accompanied by a vague smile, and the bird received nothing but a dull glance. There were many birds in these woods, and this one caught no particular interest. Another puppy and (why?) another bird arrived, and the sub-leader caught himself glaring sullenly on both the birds, wondering why it seemed to be so fashionable to have pets these days. It was a human like trait that he was not fond of. His tongue clicked lazily against the roof of his mouth as a brief nod was given to Flayra. Both puppies were still here, and it suited him excellently (even though he had only called for the adult members), because they were at the perfect age to learn the ways of hunting together with several individuals.
A fat ugly hag was the next to arrive, and the Lilium made sure to avoid gazing in the big blob’s direction. Today’s hunt was likely to allow Firefly to participate as well, and he could always hope something happened to her. His ears flickered as he replayed his own thoughts. He ought to be ashamed of himself. Funny thing was that he was not. The three last joiners were met with mere nods, although the one to the only Dahlia wolf above him in the hierarchy received a slightly deeper one. It was better than their last meeting, but oceanic eyes wandered a bit restlessly after an ashen female that shared the title as sibling, but Mew was only present on the fur of Lubomir, and only the odour of her, that was. The male clicked his teeth and looked at the majority of the pack, his eyes resting a few additional seconds on the Head Hunter of the pack(Maybe Slay would have preferred leading the hunt? Haku momentarily decided against it, today it would be him leading them), while Firefly was completely skipped again. The saying that pregnant women were beautiful was obviously just a myth, because Haku’s appetite was gone.
Thank you all for coming. As you might see, Dahlia have grown a little these last months and this means more mouths to feed. We have taken in two young wolves and everything is suggesting there will be more soon. His head nodded in Firefly’s direction, and he kept his jaws glued together to make sure his stomach would not be too tempted to force up whatever that was jolting around in his guts. This could be a good way to get acquainted with new faces, and hopefully Svara and Flayra will gain a valuable lesson in hunting. He nodded at each of the puppies respectively as their names were said out loud, and the Lilium made a mental note that he would talk to Slay about further training in the art of catching smaller game if the younger ones needed it. A pink tongue swept across dry lips before he spoke up again. I have localized a pair of deer near the curved part of the river in Oberon’s spring. With such thin ice they cannot cross the river, and the tactic would be to surround them and get both down, if luck is with us. Firefly, Svara and Flayra shall act as scarecrows and keep on distance. You are to make sure the game does not get past you if they come your way. We will start by creating a big half circle and then slowly decrease it, with the three mentioned falling a bit behind, and the rest of us go in for the kill. We will focus mainly on the dove, but I would like to see the stag go down as well.
Haku did not want to target too highly, but it would have been great to get both animals down. He wanted to be able to put some dried meat aside for Svara and Firefly for when the birth crept closer. Without realizing it, the male was slowly starting to act like the responsible creature he should be. He had a family to feed. If he had asked himself why, he could not have given any answer, but luckily he was unaware of this. Any questions or suggestions before we head for the river? The male looked at the pack, and his eyes wandered from one member to the next, only skipping Firefly a third time. He had not hunted with this tactic before, but in his mind it seemed reasonable, and it would trap the animals that were in targeted. - Svara Thames - 01-10-2009
- Cwmfen nic Graine - 01-10-2009
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/ ... banner.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> 1000+ The she wolf accepted the vague smile she was given without response. She knew that he had a mate, and that that night had been necessary on her part for her own rites of passage, but she often wondered if there was something more to that encounter. Perhaps it was simply a shallow attraction that she felt towards the only male she had shared such intimacy with, but having never been intrigued in such a way, the woad-marked female was unsure. Perhaps she would need to approach him later. Not long after her own arrival, as she as thinking how this dark-hued pup reminded her of the Russian Nikolai (for the quality of their soul seemed similar in her mind’s eye), another pup joined them. This white pup did not belong to anyone in the pack that she knew of, but she was of a similar age to the darker pup. The woad-marked female was more interested in the hawk, however. She wondered at the nature of this companionship, for she doubted that it was like her own—a Dream joined with its dreamer. The female wondered again how the hawk had been convinced to accompany the smaller creature—a family gift, perhaps? Hawks were quick, but they were not the brightest of creatures. The white orbs turned momentarily to the pied Raven, who was currently ignoring the other bird. The Raven had merely begun to follow her after the rites of her Long Nights—or more particularly the night spent with Haku—as if sent on the wind from the Ancestors. Often, she wondered why she was paired with such a creature, but one could not question the motives of souls long dead from the earth. Firefly, Haku’s mate, arrived, and she saw that the golden female was with pups. She was later in the pregnancy than she had suspected, but then, the Firefly’s scents that she had come across had been faint and cold. Cwmfen saw easily that the higher ranking female—and perhaps the male as well—was not pleased with her current condition. The warrior could sympathize with such a thing easily, for if she herself were to become pregnant, carrying the pups would stop her from carrying out her duties during the time that they must be carried. And while the black female was not usually a selfish creature, she loved freedom too much to let even her own hypothetical pups to pull her down. Perhaps that was why she was neither promiscuous nor readily searching for a mate. There was something strange about the older male who next arrived. She did not recognize this male nor his scent, and so she made the reasonable conclusion that he was new to the pack. The grey male’s greeting was amiable enough, but he seemed disappointed—or at least discontent. She wondered what it was that made him so. The woad warrior offered him a smile in greeting as she took his scent and put it with the others in the back of her mind—for later reference. Cercelee and Slay arrived soon after. A smile danced upon the female’s maw as she dipped her maw respectfully to the white Rosea. There was a great amount of respect that she had for the white alpha, for she was the heartbeat of this pack. She regretted that she had only met her briefly on several occasions, but the Vitis suspected that the leader might be busy, and so had not wished to trouble her with distracting conversations. Often she marveled at how Rosea managed the pack with only a couple years on her life, and perhaps that was where much of her respect originated. She herself was not made to lead in that way, and so she had never truly taken on such a role. Becoming Head Warrior was nothing like leading a pack. As such thoughts frequented her mind, the black female returned Slay’s smile. He looked well. She was glad to see the diamond male again after not seeing him for so long, and would have said so had Haku not begun to speak. He introduced the situation, and the warrior was glad, briefly, that she had not followed her initial aspirations for becoming a hunter. Indeed she loved to hunt, for it was similar in many ways to war, but she never thought of herself as a provider, especially of pups. Such thoughts were fleeting as he continued, introducing the pups as Svara, the darker-hued pup, and Flayra, the white one. She awknowledge them only with a flick of an ear as the Lilium continued with his plan. She nodded as she listened, drawing it out in her head, playing several scenarios in her mind. He intended to hunt both a doe and buck; it would be a lot of work, but not necessarily impossible. She was about to respond when the pup Svara spoke first. Cwmfen found it amusing, though not in a snide manner. This pup seemed to take some sort of liking towards the Lilium, for the little one gave different signals"Such lack of self control would only hinder us, pup," the woad warrior said quietly. Her voice was smooth and unmarred by hot emotions, and while her tone was nonthreatening, there was an indiscernible, yet dark undertone. The white orbs regarded the young wolf briefly, her gaze unreadable, before she returned her attention to the chocolate male. She did not know where such a dislike had originated or why it had. While the female was customarily a timid creature around others she did not know, she did not find it difficult to say what she felt needed to be said. She disliked children, especially ones that claimed to know all things and lack any control whatsoever. And while she did not know the story of this pup who most definitely did not belong to any adult present, the woad warrior found it hard to tolerate those who were not strong enough to overcome hardships—those of a mental nature. "Are we to be organized according to aptitude?" she inquired. The black female thought back to her hunt with Slay, which had been the first—and so far only—hunt involving more than herself. He had suggested then that she be the one to chase the ungulate towards him, who lie in waiting to deliver the killing stroke at the neck. He was larger and stronger than she was, and she was quicker and more agile, so that particular tactic had worked quite well. As a creature of war, the female wondered whether such organization would be required in this particular hunt, and she suspected that Haku would understand the question without the need to clarify. She tried to think it through, finding that she rather liked his proposal, and began to organize the members in her mind. However, because she did not know the older male that had arrived, she wasn’t sure where to place him. Hopefully Haku would know, or the others perhaps, if such a thing were necessary. - Flayra Zazkex - 01-10-2009
WC: 480 She saw Haku nodded at her arrival. She was glad that he would let her be part of the hunt. She was happy to see some other members come to participate. A tan female came. She sort of fitted the description of the wolf that Svara mentioned the other day. If the tan female was bitchy as Svara said she was, then Flay might have some problems with her, if any would occur. Right now, Flay would have to keep her distance for Firefly because she wouldthink of her as a pest to get rid of. However, looking at her, she did a bit round around the abdomen. Either she had an eating disorder, or she was pregnant. The light pup got the impression that Firefly was just fat, however, she rethought her mind, changing the thought to Firefly being pregnant. Besides, it was more of pregnancy fat, not fat fat. Another joined the group. An older male, like one year older than the Lilium, Haku. At sight, he looked like a nice wolf, but Flay has been known to be wrong at impressions of wolves and their attitudes. She had her eyes on the male that just arrived. He reminded Flay of her father, but there was differences between him and this male. They have the same color, but different patterns. Still, he reminded her of him. Next was Cercelee. Flay seemed happy that the white female could come to hunt with the group. She saw Cercelee look from Haku to Cwmfen to Svara to Flay. Flayra didn't mind having her here. She just felt like she was home. Another male came along who Flay hasn't met yet. He seemed bold and great. Also, he seemed to be interested in Cwmfen. He probably had the hots for her or something, but Flay wouldn't know. However, she couldn't help but keep the lovey-dovey thoughts in her mind. Looking at the two made her think of it. She was ready to laugh, but she kept it back. Haku then made a statement about the hunt. A pair of deer at Oberon’s spring seemed to be the perfect prey for the young pup. He continued on with the plan of assault, saying Flay, Svara, and Firefly are to be the scarecrows. She had a bad feeling that something would go wrong, but she didn't ponder on about it. Her thoughts were broken when Svara said something about Firefly and Flay. Firefly being Preggers and Flay being gimpers. Gimpers? Why? Was it because of her Scar on her leg? The one wrapped in cloth? Flay turned to her and said, "Gimpers? Just because I have a huge scar on my arm doesn't mean I'm a gimp." She spoke with a strong voice, but turned to Cercelee with a shy voice. "Does it? She then heard Cwm say something, but she wasn't really listening. - Firefly Sadira - 01-11-2009 Firefly merely watched the others as they joined, she didn't exchange any polite nods or smiles to the rest of the pack. She was here because they needed to bring in a kill and not because she wanted to be social. Haku's mood towards her was enough to sour any thoughts she might have of being friendly towards her packmates, and being thrown in with the two children of the pack made her bare her fangs at her mate and leader. Just because she was pregant didn't mean she couldn't hunt. She narrowed her eyes, she'd show him that pregnancy or not she could still hunt with the best of them. He was sticking her with the role of watching the annoying loudmouth and the shyer side it seemed, and making certain the two did their job and didn't let the deer sneak past them. She flicked her ears back as she straightened up, her eyes dark gems as she stood there, she'd do just that and then some. The bastard had to grow up some time and face the world, it was his fast tongue that had made her decided not to force the puppies from her body earlier in the pregnancy, he was stuck with the lot of them now. Her glace flickered to the brat child as her loud mouth was heard across the lands, snapping at the girl Firefly narrowed her orbs as she spoke. "Enough Svara, just think of it like this, if you can't prove yourself at such a simple task what will we do with you in the future." She raised a brow as she glanced over to the other child. Svara might already have placed some sortof stamp of dominance over the other child but they both would be listening to Firefly today and she wouldn't have any sort of bickering or whining between the pair. "..take it as a gift you're left with me, maybe you'll be allowed to keep that smart mouth of yours." Firefly knew from a fact just how strong those deer could kick, and though she'd love to see the young pup cracked in the jaw by the buck personally she knew that if the pack was to grow and survive that they would need every able body present. Turning her eyes back once more to the second of the two she spoke with a light frost to her voice but not as sharply as she had to Svara. "Will you listen to what you're told?" She knew that Svara might but in the process she'd probably complain the whole time and let one of the deer slip by. Firefly wanted to know that she atleast had the attention of one of the children who'd had little to no training whatsoever in this type of hunt. She knew they had to learn someday but she would have rather raced with the pack than be stuck herding along the lackeys. Firefly began to zone out of the rest of the conversation, knowing that what he did with the rest of the pack was of no concern to her since she'd already been assigned her place, a place that afforded her the farthest distance from her own mate. She felt her fur bristle at the though but she didn't let it go any further than that as she moved her emerald orbs over the others gathered that day, silently watching the lot of them and knowing that the looks she caught between her mate and Cwmfen were unlikely to just be glances of friendship. Her mate didn't keep friends of the female persuasion. Her orbs narrowed once again as she shook the thought from her head, knowing she'd have to find a way to deal with that mark against her mate later. She'd make him pay for each and every little smudge he put upon their mateship, it might oneday be the death of them but she would do it. She turned her eyes away once more from the line of conversation and just waited as she'd moved over to join the two children who was unluckily her charge. - Lubomir Varg - 01-13-2009

- Haku Soul - 01-24-2009
700+ So so so so sooo sorry for the wait, and so sorry for the bad quality of this post. its 4am and I am kind of tired, but I've had you guys waiting long enough. Go crazy and do something about those deer!
The male’s ability to maintain an expressionless face was always stunning, and he hid his forming feelings for the bitchy little pup well. He simply stared at her, and was spared the duty of putting her into place by the response from other adults. His eyes lingered slightly on Flayra, almost feeling a bit sorry for her, because there were only Svara here that was close to her age, and he was quite certain that Svara would be as horrible to her as to everyone else, and what she had said just made it even more certain. He was a hypocrite. He could not get enough of the snotty little child when in action, but if she was to nip too much on the Lilium, then there would be some trouble. Why oh why did she live in his cottage? He gathered the questions that rose with flickering ears, and nodded as Slay stated offered an answer to Lubomir’s.
It all comes down to the game and their movement. He did not put much importance in selecting a specific member to do the kill, because in the end it was all about luck and positioning. Of course, some here were more skilled than others, but he knew the adults that was in the main hunter group were all fine hunters, and with the back-troop scattering out, displaying a fence in form of the strong scent of predators, they were free to do what they wanted(in theory, that is). We will create a half circle and close in on them, when they fully notice us, we have to adjust to the directions they will try to move in. Slay and Cercelee will keep to the right, Cwmfen and Lubo to the left, and I will go middle. Back troop will stay slightly behind, and make sure to not leave too large gaps. All in the main hunting party are skilled hunters, so I trust you know what to do if the thing suddenly charges your way. Aim for the throat.
Detailed tactics did really work that well in large hunting parties, especially not with more than one target. It would be interesting to try this thing out. The stag could easily attack, and therefore he felt it might be better to have a few extra individuals close instead of one picked out member to go for the throat. Haku was not fond of gambling. He felt his words might be a bit too vague for some of the members to digest with satisfaction, but that could bring some spice into it all. After all, this whole world was Haku’s own playground, and all in all this was all a game that would end at the devil’s doorstep. So, without more dillydallying, he started to move.
The scent of game still lingered and the animals were still there. The wolves had an excellently friendly breeze today, and their scent was not to be revealed before the animals were completely trapped. Haku glided elegantly in-between the young trees, soon certain the deer was still in the middle. The Lilium gave a visible nod, a silent ‘go’, and sped up with no mercy. Those on each sides of him should by then be close enough to see him throwing them into action, and followed in their own tracks, allowing the poor animals no escape routes except for a thin iced river that was no better than jaws, really.
The dove gave a short shout as the wolves seemed to leak out from nowhere, and threw itself in running along the river towards Cwmfen and Lubomir’s side, while the stag seemed less outwitted as it lowered its antlers and charged blindly towards the middle of the four predator smell.
Haku’s limbs tried to switch directions all too fast, but clumsily slowed down his speed and then withdrew slightly as the animal charged. He moved backwards sideways left, towards the left group pair that was faced with a fleeing deer coming their way. Adrenaline rushed as the stag executed the distance between them, and Haku ended up with having to throw himself around and run with full speed. He broke the neat half circle and was to end up between left hunting group and the river, but with the stag chasing him, Slay and Cer would be able to slip behind and beside the animal. - Svara Thames - 01-25-2009
The black fae did not see the point in the pup’s words—they were merely trying to instill anger in the one who received them. Cwmfen herself received them with a certain amount of annoyance, emphasized by a mere flick of the ears. Disrespect was not something that she held in high regard; should Svara been her own, there would be serious reprimand, but the pup was not her own. And because the current matter was concerning the hunt, Cwmfen did not concern herself in the matter of the pup. Briefly, she mourned the ever dying customs of the true wolf. It seemed—and she saw it even in herself—that as the wolves of this world continued to shift, the humanesque qualities became dominant. She feared that should such qualities continue to become increasingly prominent, that the fate of the wolves would be similar to that of the humans. And she wondered then, if that were such a horrible thing for a decaying race. But there was still hope—it was not nearly so hopeless as her thoughts would suggest. Upon concerning herself with such things, the woad-marked female hardly heard the words of Lubomir and Slay. Yet, it was not as if she were not listening, for slowly, as if through a thick gel, their contribution permeated her thoughts and found her mind. Silently, the white eyes turned toward the earthen Lilium, and her thoughts turned to a different matter. Yet, that too was set aside as he responded, and she listened to his commands. She was ordered to the left, paired with the older male Lubomir. She turned her head to acknowledge him with a silent nod and a friendly smile. Having never met the male, she did not know where his strengths lie, but the same could be said of her. Haku claimed that all were skilled hunters, and she did not doubt it, for the Lilium was not one to waste empty words upon another. Besides, with a quick look, Cwmfen could see that the male was more than capable. And soon the male had delivered his orders, which should be simple enough to follow. As the Lilium turned to proceed with the Hunt, Cwmfen shifted upon her paws briefly before following suit. The white orbs would watch the male with which she was paired, keeping track of where he was. If the pack life had taught her anything at all, it was the importance of reliance upon others. As the hunters closed in, the scent of the prey hit her head on. If anything, this only made her eager, but the female very rarely lost her head, and her acute senses were not lessened. Briefly, her thoughts went to her first non-solitary hunt that had been shared with Slay; it had also been her first time tasting the fresh meat of deer, and the taste, compared to other meats, was quite exquisite. With this motivation in mind, the warrior, with the silence of a killer, moved forward, aware of her partner’s position. From the center of their battle line (at least, as she saw it), the Lilium gave the signal, and she immediately burst forth with a great speed. The white orbs sifted through the prey before her, determining which would be the target. A cry caught her attention, causing the woad banded ears to be thrown forward. Ahead, a doe, blinded by the fear that she could smell thick upon the air, came directly to her and Lubomir as if bid to do so. Perhaps disappointed that it were to be so simple, the female allowed a rueful smile before she indulged herself in the excitement of the hunt. Swiftly with agile movements, the woad-marked female turned her course to intersect the path of the doe. Turning her head, the female snapped at the front ankles of the prey, causing it to stop as if to ascertain the dwindling options. Cwmfen’s paws turned her body sharply to come up at the side of the doe, spraying a shower of snow as she barely escaped the stamping hooves herself. With a snarl morphing her face into the fierce façade of the wild, the fae threw herself up at the deer, her capable jaws ripping at the softer belly of the unfortunate doe. Today, she’d give the throat to Lubomire (perhaps next time she’d be privileged with taking the life). The female released her grip only to lunge once more, dodging the frantic hooves as fear and panic enveloped the doe. If the male did not make a move soon, the doe’s fear would overpower the wolf’s adrenalin, and the chase would have to be made once more. - Flayra Zazkex - 01-28-2009
200+ With all the words she was hearing from Svara and Firefly, Flay was having second thoughts about being part of this hunt. She was also at a risk of messing up, then Svara snapping at her because of it. She back off slowly, hoping to get by without being noticed. However, she wanted to be part of this hunt. So, she stay, but at the same distance that she was when walking off a bit away from the two females. Not long after, the others headed out to the hunt to lure the prey into a corner to devour. She hoped that they would let the three females who were asked to stay behind have some of the meat. Flay could only think of the reaction of Svara and Firefly. Flayra would just walk off and find her own, with Neon's help of course. Flay waited behind with Svara and Firefly, listening to them argue over things. Flay made sure that she wasnt even part of it. She was hoping off leaving soon, when she gets a chance to. She hoped Crimson Dreams would open up to newcomers soon. If things got worse here, the white pup doesn't think she would stay another minute here. Flay could also see Haku was starting to be not what she thought he was. She was worrying already. Having been here, she laid down waiting for Firefly's signal. She watched the pair of them wait, mainly watching the other pup. |
