It was unlike the girl to venture far from home, but she had been feeling out of place and uneasy inside the borders. Restless, and unhappy. But she couldn’t place what it was. In the past there was a simple reason for her foul mood, and now it just seemed like everything was wrong. So the female walked with a slow and undetermined pace though a territory that was off limited in her mind. The city was filled with things that Mati found frightening, but it was also home to all the things that she needed. Those things would fill her time and for the moment given her that satisfied feeling that she desired. With more supplies the more she could complete. And a finished task always felt pleasant. But even those things had lost their true luster. A painted picture, done to the best of her ability and looking as perfect as her hand could make. It didn’t have the same sense of prided as it once did. She had dozens now, flowers, animals, all sorts of birds, Haven Manor. None of them spoke to her. Her muse was faltering.
So she wandered, noon turning into dusk and the air grew cold with a winter chill. Another season dead, birthing the most sullen of them all. Yes, winter had plenty of colors, none that Mati missed. But they weren’t easy to find and too often it looked and felt as if death had simply rolled over the lands and they would never see a true color again. She didn’t want to be reminded of that demise, among leafless trees and a brown landscape. The city was always the same, covered in gray and for once Mati didn’t mind its repetitiveness. She turned the corner; foot paws carrying her over the broken concrete and stone. Idly she read the building’s faded sign and thought maybe there would be something she could use inside of it. The door was jammed, but was no match for the woman’s strength. The Earthen hued Church girl opened it, and stepped into the dim light. - Rikka de le Poer - 12-18-2009
whee! 300+ After her encounter with her mother she had left the clan lands in a huff, unable to stand the thought of staying there a moment longer. The clan had done horrible things before. Things that made Rikka sick to her stomach, but at least that had been to outsiders, most often a person or group that Inferni had viewed as a threat. Never would she have imagined that a coyote would be submitted to something so inherently wrong within the very borders of the clan. As unlikely as it had been, she had held out a small hope that she could in some way convince Kaena to have a change of mind. That hadn't happened and she had just needed to get out and away from all the shit of her "home", if she could even call it that. At first she had thought it might actually feel like home, but after this she doubted it. How could she possibly be content in a place that allowed other canines to be kept as slaves? It was so damn wrong. Part of the peace-loving woman wanted to just take off back to the commune and chalk her trek back up here up to temporary insanity. Though in that moment she remembered that Gabriel had been less than thrilled about what Kaena was doing too. Maybe he would make things better. Still, she needed some time away from the clan. Time to clear her head. Almost inadvertently she had ended up walking to the city that she had been meaning to come to. It was all for the best though, she needed to gather blankets and other things for the winter as she had none. Maybe she could find some candles and more matches as well. Hell, if she searched enough maybe she could find the materials to do some tye dying. That would be a welcome and familiar distraction not to mention it would add some color to cave back in Inferni. Rikka had become a creature of bright colors and living in such a dank space was no doubt helping to wear down her spirit. A particularly cold wind blew over her and her shoulders hunched as she shivered. Right now though, a shelter and a smoke would be best. Looking around for a suitable building as her hand rummaged around in her pack to find the case holding her joints she spotted an open door. Grinning she walked over to it and she looked down at the case she had just retrieved. Not paying attention she bumped into someone just inside the door. "Oh jeez, sorry about that!" she exclaimed, squinting as her eyes were still adjusting to the low light. <style> .rikka-moon p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:30px; } .rikka-moon b {color:#DBD6DA;} .rikka-moon-ooc {font-style:italic; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .rikka-moon {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#7F7F7F; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:375px; background-color:#252525; border:1px solid #BFBFBF; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/rikkatable.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:241px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Mati Church - 12-19-2009
- Rikka de le Poer - 12-24-2009
300+ This was the first canine outside of Inferni that she had met and she found herself eager to make a good impression. A part of her wanted to show the outside world that not every Lykoi and clan member was a bloodthristy wolf-hater. Hell, maybe it could even lead to continued peace between Inferni and the other packs. Peace was always a cause Rikka was willing to work for. Perhaps she could grow to be a bit of an ambassador. She was hardly the political type, but she had no doubt that she could do a better job of being cordial with outsiders than many of the canines she shared her "home" with. If she could secure a peaceful existence between Inferni and the other packs, well, that would be just fantastic. So far, unfortunately, it did not seem she was making a great impression. It seemed she had startled the wolf nearly out of her wits. In a show of apology her ears folded back slightly, showing that she meant her absolutely no harm. "No, really, I am sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, I was just trying to get out of the wind." Golden orbs looked back to the case in her hands and an idea came to her. She was going to take out a joint to smoke anyway and it would definitely help to calm the larger female down. Besides, sharing something was always a nice way to start things off. She opened the case and displayed the contents to the earthen colored wolf. "You wanna smoke? I was going to light one up," she said with a kind smile. "Oh, and I'm Rikka, by the way. What's your name?" She could pick up on some pack scent, but not knowing any of the other packs around here she couldn't say where the other belonged. <style> .rikka-moon p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:30px; } .rikka-moon b {color:#DBD6DA;} .rikka-moon-ooc {font-style:italic; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .rikka-moon {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#7F7F7F; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:375px; background-color:#252525; border:1px solid #BFBFBF; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/rikkatable.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:241px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Mati Church - 12-25-2009
Merry Christmas <3
- Rikka de le Poer - 12-27-2009
<3! 300+ It seemed that her reassurances of good will were already helping to soothe the other and her tail wagged once or twice to show that this pleased her. Rikka would never hurt even a fly intentionally so the younger canine had nothing to fear from her. Part of her couldn't help but wonder if she had had an unpleasant run-in with another clan member and that was part of the reason for her initial worry. It wouldn't have surprised her at all. It was just ludicrous in her mind though. Wolves and coyotes were really not that different at all so why was there so much animosity? It had been a question she had never been able to answer. "Yeah, kinda nasty out there. Especially without the sun to warm the world up." Rikka was a creature of the sun and when he was hidden away the earth was always poorer for it in her mind. The hybrid's grin broadened as the wolf agreed to have a toke with her. Wonderful! It seemed like the both of them could definitely use it. Being blissed out was always better than being tensed up. "Groovy!" she exclaimed, unable to hide her excitement. As always, Rikka preferred to smoke with company instead of on her lonesome. "Nice to meet ya Mati" She followed her new buddy to one of the tables and slide in beside her on the booth. The clan member placed her satchel on top of the table and dug around inside it for some matches, inadvertently making her tambourine jingle in the process. Her fingers found a pack and pulled it out triumphantly while taking one of the joints out of the case. She offered the matches and joint to her companion. "You wanna take the first hit?" Rikka simply assumed that the other had done this before and knew what to do. <style> .rikka-moon p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:30px; } .rikka-moon b {color:#DBD6DA;} .rikka-moon-ooc {font-style:italic; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .rikka-moon {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#7F7F7F; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:375px; background-color:#252525; border:1px solid #BFBFBF; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/rikkatable.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:241px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Mati Church - 12-28-2009
300+ - Rikka de le Poer - 12-28-2009
300+ The de le Poer female was trusting of anyone until they gave her a reason not to. On her travels often she had been wary and tense, but when she had come to stay in the commune that had all changed. Everything there had been peace and love and brother/sisterhood. Coming back to these lands had been more of a shock to her system than she had anticipated and that was one of the reasons she had run off. The woman had become comfortable with the hippie way of life and she honestly loved it. Things were so different here and she found herself yearning for the warmth that came from like-minded canines. "Yeah, that's a bit of a downer. Oh well though, it's just another of Mother Nature's wonders, even if it isn't my favorite." The Earth had its own rhythm and it would be pompous of her to say that any of it was wrong or bad. She just went with the flow. Her easy-going, open, and friendly attitude had been a result of her recent lifestyle as well. Back in The Haight, everything had been open and there was always someone around to keep you company. They lounged under the sun and danced under the moon. They made love and smoked and everything was so chill. Everyone around here could use a bit of that philosophy Rikka believed. As Mati suggested she go first the woman only smiled. "Alrighty." She brought the rolled paper to her lips and expertly struck the match. The small flame was brought up to the opposite end of the joint and Rikka breathed in the fragrant herb. Wrist flicked to put out the match and she pulled the joint away from her mouth, lazily exhaling. Smirking lopsidedly, already feeling her muscles relax, she extended her hand out to Mati again. "Here ya go." <style> .rikka-moon p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:30px; } .rikka-moon b {color:#DBD6DA;} .rikka-moon-ooc {font-style:italic; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .rikka-moon {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#7F7F7F; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:375px; background-color:#252525; border:1px solid #BFBFBF; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/rikkatable.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:241px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Mati Church - 12-29-2009
300+ - Rikka de le Poer - 12-29-2009
300+ Everything in nature had some kind of beauty and purpose she had come to believe. Some things you just had to look deeper to see it. Snow and winter was one of those things. Yeah, it was cold and kind of unpleasant. The sun didn't always shine and the plants died, the trees lost their leaves. Still, the snow had its own kind of serene beauty. It made you appreciate heat more and getting all bundled up and cozy could be a lot of fun. Especially if you had someone to get bundled up with. Rikka wasn't one for getting tied down, but she loved having someone to spend the nights with. She hadn't had a lover since she had left The Haight and right now she felt like she needed one. She needed to experience the beauty and love that two beings could create again. At the current moment, though, she wasn't really thinking about that. Right now she was focused on her new friend and sharing a good smoke. Rikka was too wrapped up in the activity itself to notice the initial telltale signs that this was a new experience for Mati. The way she watched her light the joint, the way her nose reacted to the unique smell of the burning herb. Rikka was just glad to be with someone nice and to be unwinding from all the stress Inferni had thrown on her. It wasn't until the wolf coughed out the smoke that she had inhaled that the hybrid got clued in to the fact that she might be new at this. Chuckling softly she took the joint back with one hand and patted the girl on the back with the other. "Your first time? Sorry, shoulda warned ya." That earthen fur felt so wonderfully warm and soft under her fingertips. Mary Jane was already working her magic. <style> .rikka-moon p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:30px; } .rikka-moon b {color:#DBD6DA;} .rikka-moon-ooc {font-style:italic; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .rikka-moon {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#7F7F7F; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:375px; background-color:#252525; border:1px solid #BFBFBF; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/rikkatable.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:241px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Mati Church - 12-29-2009
powerplay, kick me to change it!!
300+ - Rikka de le Poer - 12-30-2009
HOW DARE YOU D: j/k <3 300+ Rikka did feel bad that she hadn't prepared Mati for what was to come, but the first toke was always a little rough simply because it was a new experience. Your body was experiencing a new intoxicant and soon after a new state of mind and so it only made sense that the first time wouldn't go smoothly. That's what the veteran smoker was here for though, to guide the younger and less experienced canine through it. She would make sure that this first would improve from here on out. "Yeah, prolly wouldn'ta been much different if I had warned ya, hehe." She still would have coughed at the new sensation of inhaling the herb and letting the smoke fill her lungs. "Tends to the first few times, it'll get easier though. Soon you won't really notice it at all," she said with a grin. The woman had experimented with many other drugs, not just marijuana, though grass was most definitely her favorite. It didn't come with the unpleasant side-effects that some of the stronger stuff did. Mushrooms were her second favorite, and she had some of those the commune had given her as well, but she was saving those for a special occasion. Weed was definitely the best though. It relaxed you and lifted your spirits. There wasn't a single thing wrong with it in her mind. Golden orbs watched as the wolf took her second drag, hoping this one would go down better. "Eeeh, depends. I do it quite often, I guess, but I almost never do it alone. It's a lot more fun with company." Playfully she elbowed Mati. "I been doin' it more lately though. Jus' moved back here an' it's quite the change from the life I was livin' before." Right now The Haight and Inferni seemed like polar opposites and the transition was weighing heavy on the hybrid. <style> .rikka-moon p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:30px; } .rikka-moon b {color:#DBD6DA;} .rikka-moon-ooc {font-style:italic; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .rikka-moon {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#7F7F7F; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:375px; background-color:#252525; border:1px solid #BFBFBF; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/rikkatable.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:241px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Mati Church - 12-31-2009
<3!
300+ - Rikka de le Poer - 01-02-2010
SoSuWriMo 470 Eagerly she watched as Mati took her second draw. Immediately she could see that the wolf was already learning the proper technique (both from observation and instruction) and she was glad that this time went much smoother for her. It would have been a drag if she had been proved a liar and Mati had gone into a coughing fit again. Yeah, that simply wouldn’t have done. Thankfully it had all gone in the flow that it was meant to and the younger canine was learning the amazing effects of the special plant. In thinking about it her first time hadn’t been all that much different, though she had had the instruction prior to taking her first toke, she had still coughed up a storm. It just came with the territory. It was a quickly passing inconvenience though. The relaxed smile let her know that the drug was having the desired effect on her companion. Sometimes it took a few times before some people felt anything but she was glad that it was not the case with Mati. Rikka didn’t want to be the only one here having fun, that wasn’t what this was about. She took the joint back as the other female’s violet eyes roamed around the room they inhabited. The world always looked a little different when you smoked, but not enough to freak you out. Well, some people freaked out, but it was mostly because of their prior dispositions, at least she thought so. Weed had never made her anything near paranoid, all it did was relax her and chill her out and remind her that life was good. It seemed to be having a similar effect on Mati. Rikka was happy for that. First experiences were important. If your initial exposure to something wasn’t positive then it was likely that you would always have bad feelings and conceptions towards it. She wanted this to be enjoyable for the first time toker. The de le Poer nodded her head as she too leaned back against the booth. She brought the rolled paper back to her lips and took another drag, slowly puffing the smoke out in intervals before handing it back. “Yeah, it is. Especially for me. Kinda the misfit of the family you could say. Still, the clan’s where most of my family is. We don’t always get along, but they’re still my family. I dunno, it’s hard for even me to figure out. I’m just a mixed up chick when it comes to this topic.” Questions and conflicts constantly whirled through her head when it came to her family and Inferni. Her face turned to the larger canine. “What about you? How’s your fam? Hopefully not as messed up as mine,” she concluded with a loud laugh. Boy her family was a strange bunch. <style> .rikka-moon p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:30px; } .rikka-moon b {color:#DBD6DA;} .rikka-moon-ooc {font-style:italic; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .rikka-moon {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#7F7F7F; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:375px; background-color:#252525; border:1px solid #BFBFBF; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/rikkatable.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:241px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Mati Church - 01-02-2010
<3 you, we can do this!!! RAWR
- Rikka de le Poer - 01-03-2010
lol, not as short as I intended XD SoSuWriMo 359 It probably seemed weird to outsiders for her to live in the clan when she believed the things that she did. Rikka didn’t try to make sense of it though. No, she didn’t agree with the atrocities the clan carried out, or their exterior decorating tactics. Still, they were her family whether she liked it or not. Her mother and she wouldn’t have a great relationship it seemed. She had held hope for that upon returning, but after their argument it didn’t seem that such a thing would happen. The woman held more hope for building something with her brother though. There were still many things that they did not see eye to eye on either, but Gabriel had a good head about him and wouldn’t suffer injustice in their home. The fact that he was an artist was another facet that he had that she had been ignorant of and it made her see him in a new light. As long as she stayed in Inferni she thought they had a chance at caring for one another. It was a little sad to hear that Mati’s family wasn’t exact model either. Rikka figured though that that was the way of things more often than not. “Two moms, huh? That don’t sound too bad. I’m sure you got lots of love when you were little.” Females were naturally nurturing and far more nurturing than males. Such a situation didn’t sound like a bad gig at all. The fact that they were lesbians didn’t catch her off guard in the least. She’d been around plenty of women who liked other women, had even experimented with them. “That’s a drag about the drugs though. Some of that shit can be pretty nasty.” She’d stick to the stuff that grew in the ground. “Ha! Yeah! You’re better off that way, trust me.” Rikka took another puff and handed the doobie back to Mati. As her hand pulled back it inadvertently brush against some of the wolf’s long hair. She lightly held one of the wavy strands between her fingers. “I like your hair,” she complimented, her smile taking on a different hue. <style> .rikka-moon p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:30px; } .rikka-moon b {color:#DBD6DA;} .rikka-moon-ooc {font-style:italic; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .rikka-moon {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#7F7F7F; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:375px; background-color:#252525; border:1px solid #BFBFBF; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/rikkatable.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:241px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Mati Church - 01-03-2010
- Rikka de le Poer - 01-03-2010
SoSuWriMo 397 At least the younger woman’s childhood had been good. At least things hadn’t gotten messed up too early. Rikka viewed her childhood as mostly good, though she knew now it could have been better. Neither the Lykois or the de le Poers were a very touchy feely bunch and often did not express their feelings in a affectionate way, if at all really. Sometimes she even wondered if there had been any love between her mother and father. She supposed it didn’t really matter. Maybe in this case ignorance was bliss. Knowing there had been would be nice, but to find out there hadn’t been would only serve to sadden her. “That’s good. Pups deserve to grow up being loved and happy.” That’s what Rikka wanted for her children, if Mother Nature ever saw fit to give her any. Lazily the golden hued woman nodded her head. Some of the other mind altering substances out there were certainly dangerous. “For sure, sister. Bad trips can come out of some of that stuff. Not to mention the addictiveness. Don’t got ta worry about good ole’ Mary Jane though. She won’t give you none of those nasty side effects.” Mati seemed to know that well enough already, but she figured it wouldn’t hurt to put her mind at ease. Once the high wore off she wouldn’t be left ravenous for more or down deep in the dumps. The woman hadn’t been expecting a compliment in return, and certainly not one so vibrant and wonderful. Her eyes took on a far off look as she pictured the scene the Mati so expertly painted. If she had known the other was a painter it would not have surprised her at all how expertly she could construct an image with words. “Woooow,” she said, momentarily too hazed to say anything more. “You have a way with words. That was far out.” Just by speaking Mati had seemed to enhance the colors of the world. “In the commune, the place I was before I came back, they gave me the name Sunflower. Funny you should say my hair is that color.” Still admiring the strand of the wolf’s mane in her fingers she added, “Your’s reminds me of Mother Earth. About how warm and nurturing she is.” There was a definitely earthly beauty to the girl that drew Rikka in like a magnet. <style> .rikka-moon p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:30px; } .rikka-moon b {color:#DBD6DA;} .rikka-moon-ooc {font-style:italic; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .rikka-moon {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#7F7F7F; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:375px; background-color:#252525; border:1px solid #BFBFBF; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/rikkatable.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:241px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Mati Church - 01-04-2010
- Rikka de le Poer - 01-10-2010
Yeah...definitely not as good as the first one I wrote :| SoSuWriMo 430 Rikka had always hoped to have pups of her own sometime. She hadn’t particularly been trying for them, but she certainly hadn’t been trying to prevent such an outcome either. Still, she had never gotten pregnant and the optimistic female was starting to get a little nervous about the validity of her womb. It was in her nature to look at the bright side of things and look for the positive even in the most dire of situations, and while she was far from getting panicky over it yet, the worry was starting to creep into her psyche. She was leaving the prime of her life and if she couldn’t conceive then, when could she? Thought for the moment she brushed the worries of her biological clock away. Right now she just wanted to enjoy a good smoke with good company. “Of course, sister! I wouldn’t have asked you to do something that could make your life turn down such a bad road.” Addiction was something that everyone should do their best to steer clear of. Except for maybe an addiction to life, as Rikka would classify herself as having, but that was different. Being enthusiastic about living life to the fullest was completely different than needing a fix to keep yourself functioning. Sure, she loved smoking, but it wasn’t something that she needed to do. If this ended up being her last joint then it would be her last joint, no big deal. It seemed Mati was embarrassed by her artistic outburst and Rikka couldn’t figure out for the life of her why. That kind of behavior deserved praise not mockery. Besides, the hybrid would never be so cruel. As the wolf showed her face again she was offered another reassuring smile. “A commune? Oh, it’s wonderful. It’s all peace, love, and harmony in a commune. We just lived, laughed, loved, and played all day. Gave our thanks to Mother Earth. You’d like it in a commune.” Her voice rang with reminiscence as she took one last toke and then set the dwindling joint down in the ashtray. As Mati took a strand of Rikka’s own hair between her fingers the connection between them became more solid and more electric. The woman could feel it now, pulsing and beating between them like the heartbeat of the planet. “Exactly,” she replied airily. Her fingers released their hold on the strand of dark hair and moved to gently brush against the other’s cheek.
