"Miss Kaena," she called and looked around the cave until she found the woman, her gaze watching her hands and then glanced away. Slowly, she set the blankets down and picked the matches up before putting them in the satchel with the rest. There were about five blankets, not excessively large but enough, and she did not expect to have any extra for herself. She had gone for Kaena, after all. Vieira diligently untangled herself from the bag over her shoulders, gripping the shoulder and waited for instruction in order to begin showing the woman what she brought. - Kaena Lykoi - 12-16-2009
The candles were next, they made the most sense, and she sat them by the matches, lining them up neatly as if they were inspected for organization. They were not obscenely large but they would do the job of lighting the place up easily and perhaps bring a ounce of warmth if enough were lit. "I found some dried herbs, too... for cooking," she said quietly and pulled the containers out and set them on the cold cave floor as well as the packs of seeds. She didn't know whether or not the seeds would be of any use or if they were too old to plant. "And I was wondering if it was okay, in the spring, to start a garden nearby so I—we could have them on hand," she said and her eyes found the woman's feet awkwardly.
After the rest was set out on the cave floor, Vieira put her hand back inside where the chain and leash were still located. The chain was faded in color but not quite rusted and the collar was still in good shape, just a little dusty. Her hand quivered as she hovered above it, still having been obliviously to the joke of yesterday, and she pulled them out and tried to make as little sound as possible. They softly clang together and she bunched it up on the cave floor, opposite the blankets. - Kaena Lykoi - 12-16-2009
However, Kaena laughed and her eyes glanced upward. Vieira did not break a smile, finding it cruel to laugh at her misfortune. At least, she decided, the woman got a laugh and was overall happy. Except something was wrong and Kaena was joking? The amount of emotions Vieira went through in such a short span of time was enough to make her heart race. Even if she was joking, she was going to use it but changed her mind a minute later. Her ears fell back against her head and she closed her eyes, looking at the ground in emotional frustration and tried to find a good place for her to settle. Vieira could not tell whether or not she was going to use it at all and so she remained silent.
Vieira heaved a long breath of relief when her praise was given and the only thing she found herself doing was thumping her tail on the ground and her fingers lacing together in her lap. - Kaena Lykoi - 12-17-2009
"What would you like me to do with the rest?" she asked and found it was the safest thing for all of them. It was not directed on the chain and collar and instead everything else as a whole. She would have to find a place to store them and the woman did not want to put them where they did not belong or where Kaena would not want them. - Kaena Lykoi - 12-17-2009
The coyote woman nodded in response to the thanks, another faint smile darting across her face. It was difficult to dislike Vieira when everything she spoke was perfect politeness, when she completed every task the grizzled hybrid commanded wonderfully. The coyote woman once more considered her good fortune in Eris sending the coyote here. The sable-furred canine was a mystery; she had abandoned her mother for dead and Vieira had not come with an explanation for that act, merely an apology. It was Kae's first instinct to distrust Viei and everything she said, but if the other canine had been sent here with another motive or a hidden purpose, Kaena could sense nothing of it. After all, they were living together in rather tight quarters, and anytime Kaena wanted she could have stuck her head in Viei's dwelling and checked over it, just to make sure the smaller canine was hiding nothing. The Quintus spoke, and the silver-furred hybrid looked over at her and the items she'd scrounged from the city. "Pass the candles and the matches here, hm? Two blankets, too. The rest of it you can put on the outer shelf or something, I suppose," the hybrid said, eyeing the chain and collar for a moment. The chain was slightly rusty, but the collar was in pretty good shape, it seemed. The spare blanket was for someone else who needed it—the coyote did not know how well Rikka had settled into her cave, and she worried about Razekiel. He was thin; perhaps he would do well to receive a random gift? The problem there, however, was that the silver-furred canine had no idea where exactly Razekiel had taken up residence. In a moment the hybrid wished she'd instructed Vieira to bring back an entire boatload of blankets for all of Inferni, for she worried about all of them—except for perhaps Halo and Cotl, who no-doubt were well-prepared to the cold season with their insulated rooms and ample resources inside of the mansion. <style> .kae-gifterin2 b {color:#990000;} .kae-gifterin2 p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding: 0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:20px; } </style>
- Vieira Lykoi - 12-17-2009
http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/vievie.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #8f7a45; padding: 178px 0px 0px 0px; font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#615128; line-height:13px; text-align:justify;">
Vieira turned and picked up the small jars of dried herbs and the seed packets, holding them and the blankets as she moved to the ground and neatly stacked everything in place and lined up nicely so she knew exactly what the were. The seeds she did select were put behind the respected herb and she frowned because she did not have them all.
The woman turned back around empty handed and moved awkwardly toward the chain and collar. It was evident she was tense and she did her best to not look at her owner as she picked them up. She attempted to pick them up silently but they clang together until her second hand reached them and gripped them in order to silence it. It did little as she began to back up in order to put them on the shelf as well. - Kaena Lykoi - 12-17-2009
The hybrid watched as the coyote straightened the items out, folding the blankets neatly and placing the other things on top for convenience. Kae thought this was rather smart; in a role reversal the silvery hybrid might have just passed the items over one by one. Smirking, she took the package and turned to place the candles and matches on her own shelf, inhaling the scents of one of them. It seemed to have a particular flavor, though it was soft and the silver-furred coyote could not identify it at first. The others were unscented, or their scent had faded with the years—she could not tell. Rolling the scented one in her hand, she took the matches back on second thought, striking one with nimble fingers and holding it to light the candle. The scent did not seem to increase in power or become too pungeant, but instead radiated outward from the candle, a pleasant odor filling the cave. Kae wrinkled her nose and turned back to glance at Vieira was she brought the collar and chain back, obviously unnerved by their presence. The silvery hybrid almost regretted that the other canine had decided to take the words literally, but not so much that she'd go and chuck the items in to the ocean or anything. "Maybe you'd like to model that collar for me now, hm?" she suggested, lifting an eyebrow as she peered at Viei, amusement still present in her scarred features. This was not as much of a joke as the suggestion to bring the collar; the hybrid figured they might as well get some use out of it. The silver-furred hybrid wanted to see what it looked like on the slighter-framed coyote, sans chain—perhaps Viei should wear it at all times to remind her of who was her master. thanks to james for the header image .kae-bloody p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:25px; } .kae-bloody b {color:#3A0503} .kae-bloody {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:400px; background-color:#BDB0B0; border:1px solid #000000; background-image:url(http://digital-bonsai.com/katew/rp/kae/kae_bloody.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:230px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Vieira Lykoi - 12-17-2009
http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/vievie.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #8f7a45; padding: 178px 0px 0px 0px; font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#615128; line-height:13px; text-align:justify;">
The result was in her favor and she lifted it, spread, and over her muzzle and head, dropping it across her neck. The metal was cold and she felt it through the fur of her neck. She lingered faced away from the woman for a moment longer before her hands dropped to her side and she faced the woman, defeat in her posture as she stared at the ground that met Kaena's feet. She thought of Eris and her neglect, leaving her chained outside for too long without care. It had been rough and part of her could not imagine this woman doing the same but her expectations were always cut short when she became too comfortable. - Kaena Lykoi - 12-17-2009
The ash-furred canid inhaled as Vieira turned around, and it was not until several moments later she realized she held that same breath, her eye drawn to the sharp silver around the other canine's neck. The chain hung heavily in her fur, the silvery metal glinting faintly in the sunlight filtering through the cave. A vague sort of excitement rushed at Kaena, distant and dim, as if there were a perforated wall between her consciousness and this rush of emotion, allowing some of it to slip through but not nearly all of it. The hybrid's yellowy eye sized up the other canine once more, sliding from the woman's neck and down over her shoulders, lingering for a moment on her hips, traveling up and down the other canine's legs. It was an appreciative look, and a disconcerting sense of arousal flooded the hybrid. "It suits you," she said, but her voice was not even the slightest bit derisive—instead Kae's voice sounded thick, as if choked with smoke. thanks to james for the header image .kae-bloody p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:25px; } .kae-bloody b {color:#3A0503} .kae-bloody {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:400px; background-color:#BDB0B0; border:1px solid #000000; background-image:url(http://digital-bonsai.com/katew/rp/kae/kae_bloody.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:230px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Vieira Lykoi - 12-17-2009
http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/vievie.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #8f7a45; padding: 178px 0px 0px 0px; font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#615128; line-height:13px; text-align:justify;">
It suits you. Vieira mentally scoffed at the words but her outer appearance did not change. Of course it suited her. She was a slave and this was nothing she was used to. Her first two owners had not done this to her but Eris had and she quickly realized and learned what these sort of things were used for. She could not remember who told her but she remembered the information and it stuck with her. It was simply a matter of ownership and Vieira knew nothing else because outside her owner, everything was meaningless. - Kaena Lykoi - 12-17-2009
She shook her head suddenly, as if a trance had been snapped, and smiled faintly at the other canine. "You don't like it," the coyote said with a smirk, observing the girl's balled fists and uncertain expression. That was a given; the coyote did not have to ask why. The reason was clear; Viei was more aware of the symbolism behind the collar than the Centurion, after all. Still, Kae wondered how Vieira might react to that statement—was it worse to lie or disagree? The coyote watched for the other canine's reaction, mischievousness sparkling in her single remaining eye. Perhaps this was another sort of test or just an excuse to berate her—either way Vieira might figure she was wrong, and that conundrum the Quintus might face gave the silvery hybrid some faint amusement, the ghost of a smile showing in her raised lip, showing just the tips of her dangerous yellow fangs. thanks to james for the header image .kae-bloody p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; text-indent:25px; } .kae-bloody b {color:#3A0503} .kae-bloody {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:400px; background-color:#BDB0B0; border:1px solid #000000; background-image:url(http://digital-bonsai.com/katew/rp/kae/kae_bloody.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:230px; text-align:justify; }</style>
- Vieira Lykoi - 12-18-2009
She inhaled a long breath and blinked. "You like it," she said carefully and her muzzle lowered slowly to touch her chest. "It suits me," she repeated without really having an answer. While she did not like this, that was not what mattered. It was what Kaena liked. Vieira would wear the collar and eventually it would become less heavy and she would barely notice its presence. The woman was more worried about being chained up somewhere on her own rather than the collar but this was simply the first step. <style> .vie-leashed p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 20px 0px 20px; text-indent:20px; } .vie-leashed b {color:#E3CC62;} .vie-leashed-ooc {font-style:italic; color:#000000; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .vie-leashed {font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#000000; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:350px; background-color:#B68328; border:1px solid #000000; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/vieiratable1.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:151px; text-align:justify; padding-bottom:10px; } </style>
- Kaena Lykoi - 12-18-2009
The silver-furred hybrid considered the other canine, her yellowy eye focused on the shining metal looped about her neck. The symbolic nature of the chain and Vieira's septum piercing was not lost on Kaena; if she had been more educated she might have realized the similarity between Vieira's shining silver ring and the ones they placed in the nose of bulls to better control them. Vieira hardly needed that kind of rough treatment; the tawny-furred canine was meek enough to be under control of her own volition, and the silvery Centurion had come to realize that. She didn't need anything to keep her as she was; her mind did a damn good job of that, thanks to the indoctrination she'd received as a younger canine. The slighter coyote spoke again, and Kaena's sharp-featured head tilted to peer over at the other canine, listening for the careful response to the barbed question. There was no real "right" answer to the question Kaena had asked, but the hybrid's respone toed around actually answering, instead proposing Kaena was the one to enjoy the collar, coupled with a cautious agreement with the phrase the Centurion herself had spoken. The coyote was not surprised by the other canine's intelligence; there was no doubt she was experienced responding to questions to which there was no real correct answer. The coyote considered for a moment, realizing she very much liked the collar. Still, it was apparent to her that it granted a certain amount of discomfort to the other canine. This caused a stirring of conflicted morality within the hybrid, half of her wanting to order Vieira never to take the thing off, the other wanting to tell her to remove it immediately. Hesitantly, the hybrid spoke. "You can take it off," she said, feeling strangely improper for enjoying the look of the metal looped around the other canine's neck. It was a strange thing to find attractive, to be certain, and the ash-furred coyote appeared troubled for a moment, her golden eye reflecting some vague inner conflict. <style>.kae-jaws p {padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; text-indent:25px;} .kae-jaws b {color:#C7D5E5; font-family:'palatino linotype', georgia, serif; font-size:13px; letter-spacing:.6px;} .kae-jaws {width:320px; background-color:#9B9B9B; background-image:url(http://digital-bonsai.com/katew/rp/kae/kae_jaws.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:221px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.2px word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; border:1px solid #000000; } </style>
- Vieira Lykoi - 12-18-2009
Vieira turned and picked up the chain on the floor and placed them both on the shelf that was eye level with her. They were neatly placed, apart from each other, and for a moment her golden eyes watched them and she imagined them disappearing all of a sudden. Slowly, the slave backed away from the wall after making sure everything was neat and in place. Her fists balled again but relaxed, only to do it again when she realized how cold her fingers were and it was simply a tactic to cause a quicker blood flow. She moved back to the center, picked up her blankets, and placed them in the small room of her own. <style> .vie-leashed p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 20px 0px 20px; text-indent:20px; } .vie-leashed b {color:#E3CC62;} .vie-leashed-ooc {font-style:italic; color:#000000; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .vie-leashed {font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#000000; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:350px; background-color:#B68328; border:1px solid #000000; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/vieiratable1.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:151px; text-align:justify; padding-bottom:10px; } </style>
- Kaena Lykoi - 12-18-2009
The silver-furred hybrid watched with her single glowing eye as the other canine removed the chain, drawing it over her sharp-featured face, allowing it to fall through to a straight chain once more, jingling softly in the otherwise quiet cave. The other canine picked up the larger chain, a different tone of noise echoing through their dwelling, and placed them both neatly up on the jagged shelves. They were hardly perfectly flat, nowhere near as flat as her bedding area, but they did not slope outwards to the center of the cave, and they would hold whatever Kaena or Vieira placed there. The silver-furred woman's interest was caught as the other canine seemed physically bothered by the presence of the chains, her fists clamping up once more, her eyes lingering for too long on the objects before she ducked into her own alcove, placing her new blankets in the smaller room for use later. The grizzled hybrid's single eye was drawn to the objects herself, studying the links of thicker, rusted chain and the small collar. Her sable ears folded back and she almost wanted to tug the spare blanket over them to hide them for the moment. The coyote twisted her head toward Vieira, peering at the tawny-furred canine for a moment before she scooted backwards on her bed, her spine lying straight against the curved rear wall of the cave, open space behind her neck and head where her own private shelf was. "Do you want to come and sit up here with me?" she asked. There was something different in the hybrid woman's tone, her very wording—this was not a command, but a genuine question directed toward the other canine. Certainly if refused, the silver-furred Centurion would receive some degree of offense, but still, she had offered the other coyote a choice. <style>.kae-jaws p {padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; text-indent:25px;} .kae-jaws b {color:#C7D5E5; font-family:'palatino linotype', georgia, serif; font-size:13px; letter-spacing:.6px;} .kae-jaws {width:320px; background-color:#9B9B9B; background-image:url(http://digital-bonsai.com/katew/rp/kae/kae_jaws.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:221px; padding-bottom:10px; text-align:justify; font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.2px word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; border:1px solid #000000; } </style>
- Vieira Lykoi - 12-18-2009 300+
Her thoughts were answered when Kaena spoke and her head turned to look out in that direction. The question made her stiffen and she began to stand and exit her small room. "Okay," she said quietly. It was not necessarily a "yes" or "no" but the woman stressed her out enough already with things like this and Vieira had nothing else to do at the moment. The only thing she worried about was the closeness and the fact it was a bed Kaena asked about. She made a last look to her bedroom in order to make sure everything was neat and turned toward the bed.
Vieira made her way up, climbing the short incline and settling herself a few feet away from Kaena. If she could distance herself as much as possible, she would, and for now this was as comfortable as she could make herself. Her legs drew up into her, crossing over into an Indian fashion and her hands were clasped together by her feet while her eyes found something to focus on. <style> .vie-leashed p {margin:0px 0px 10px 0px; padding:0px 20px 0px 20px; text-indent:20px; } .vie-leashed b {color:#E3CC62;} .vie-leashed-ooc {font-style:italic; color:#000000; font-family:arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px;} .vie-leashed {font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#000000; word-spacing:1px; line-height:13px; width:350px; background-color:#B68328; border:1px solid #000000; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/vieiratable1.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:fixed; padding-top:151px; text-align:justify; padding-bottom:10px; } </style>
- Kaena Lykoi - 12-18-2009
