Conor’s news that had been brought to the feet of the pack just hours after Jac’s meeting had been enough for her. She didn’t care what the rest of her pack was going to do she had already made up her mind. She worried though over the things that her son had spoke of and she wished that Svara’s daughter had not turned to the pack she resided in with Conor. She shook a shiver from her pelt as she padded along the beach, knowing that she would have to find Anselm and inform him of everything that she’d learned. She hadn’t told Conor what she’d decided but she well enough hoped that the young man would keep his head out of the war and take those he could into safety.

She had paused a moment in her trekking along the beach, her ears pinned back as she wondered if Conor would take her up on the offer to stay in Cour des Miracles if things turned as violently as she believed that they would. She hoped that he at least had the common sense to find sanctuary somewhere if he wouldn’t accept it from the pack where his mother resided. Her shoulders drooped slightly as she drudged on, knowing that she had to be quick moving through these lands, not knowing when next Haku would show his face.

Now that King's electric blue eyes were open to the world, Tokyo had changed ever so slightly the way she carried him. Instead of just nestling him in a pile of dresses in her green bag, she had added more to the bottom layer so that he could peek his head out and observe the world as she wandered. She wasn't sure how strong his vision was yet, but he definitely recognized his mother's silvery form and seemed to enjoy these adventures. When he got a better handle on walking on his own she'd take him on walks around Dahlian territory, but for now it was just easier to carry him while shifted.

Tokyo didn't even hesitate as she stepped over the Dahlian boundary and into the nearby neutral territory of Whisper Beach. Yes, she knew that her pack was at war, and while that was all fine and dandy and she certainly wished the warriors of her pack the best of luck in dealing with the troublesome coyotes... well, it just didn't feel like a personal matter at all. Oh, sure, she was loyal to Dahlia de Mai in general and Haku in particular, but.. Meh. What could she do? She was a mother with an infant. Scrawny and sick of lung, she wouldn't be able to do any good in a fight anyway. She was what the pack was fighting to protect. And she didn't really think she was in any danger. Yeah, she had a brush with mortality during that fight with Corvus. But that was different. She had provoked him, and later regretted it. Should she encounter a coyote she'd be pleasant and submissive and non-threatening. That, combined with the fact that she was carrying a child would surely be enough to protect her.

A vaguely familiar orange form crossed Tokyo's field of vision, and in a rather good mood the Dahlian female waved. "Oh, hello!" King squeaked loudly in agreement, his blue gaze swiveling to the strange blurry form, his brown nose peeking up over the edge of Tokyo's green bag.

sosu-347 and yes, the 16th is fine.

Firefly really hadn’t expected anyone to find her as she made her way towards the distant lands of Inferni. She almost didn’t stop when she heard the voice but a quick glance over her shoulder made her hesitate as she realized that the newcomer had a child in tow. She paused in her journey to turn back and eye the woman who wasn’t exactly a stranger to her. Her gaze flickered to the child as a frown pressed upon her lips. She couldn’t be sure but it was almost more than apparent of who the father was.

A spark of annoyance flooded her bloodstream as she wondered just how many more bastard children the male had roaming about. She could have forgiven his wandering seed any other time but she had been his mate once and he had made it apparent that it was only for show, that she was nothing more than one of his toys. Somehow she’d found herself in the same position with her own king, but at least she hadn’t been foolish enough to become his mate, not like he’d ever settle down anyways.

Her voice was soft as she finally let her eyes pull away from the child as she addressed her ex-pack mate. ”Hello Tokyo..” her eyes emotionless, unsure if the woman was set on taking out the order Haku had given the pack on her banishment. She wasn’t on Dahlia de Mai lands but it wouldn’t surprise her if he had twisted each and every one of his pack members into pushing past morals and laws as he himself did almost every day.

She ran one hand across her belly that was beginning to show more and more every day as she questioned the newcomer. ”Is there any doubt of who the father is?” she asked, her voice dry and humorless. She should have expected the male to take what he wanted when he wanted and he was attractive enough, she was just tired of seeing all the reminders of her past scampering about so innocent of their father’s wrongdoings.

Of course Firefly's response would be cool in tone. According to Haku, she'd been kicked out of the pack, and endangered the lives of her children or something like that. Her mind jumped to Princess, who she for so long believed was also removed from Dahlia de Mai due to angering the leaders. But no, instead she had conspired to get out of her mother's home without her mother knowing.. It was disgusting behavior on her part, and she felt annoyed just thinking about how Princess had dared to come back to her den to say those things she had said.. Thankfully at least it seemed like Tokyo had managed to hurt her back fairly significantly in return.

Tokyo had initially hoped for some vaguely friendly encounter (they had met on good terms before, even if since then the other female had been exiled!). But she stiffened at the comment about her son. It felt almost like a personal insult, which was amazing, because those were the gravest and most unforgivable of things. "No, I suppose there is not." She replied simply, her own voice cool now. "His name is King, and his father is Haku, whom I believe you know is the powerful and respectable leader of my pack." And the remarkable fact was that Tokyo believed the words she was saying. Yes, she would spout the same statements regardless of what she thought of Haku, but as the case was in this particular situation she thought that King's genetics were clearly a recipe for greatness.

The child's bright blue eyes swung back and forth between the two females, intently studying their body language as he couldn't yet hear the words they were speaking. Neither of them looked happy, and he didn't know why, and he didn't like it because he didn't understand it, so he whined and ducked back into his bag. The world bothered him so he would go back to where it didn't exist.

Firefly’s eyes fell upon the child once more as she waited for the woman to speak. It seemed that almost every one of the massive brood that her once mate had conceived was indeed destine to look like him in some way. Her upper lip twitched as she tried to keep from showing her fangs. The arrogance of the male still got to her now. That was one of the dozens of reasons she would see to it that Inferni was granted as much information on the pack as could be. She would watch from a distance as the beast that had risen so quickly in the world would crash and burn just as fast.

When the woman finally spoke Firefly couldn’t help but laugh at her words. She was so diluted by the spells that heartless monster could spin that she probably didn’t know night from day anymore. Firefly shook her head in disgust as she let her eyes fall off the child and meet the gaze of the Dahlia de Mai lady. She narrowed her eyes as she commented. ”Yes of course, Haku would be the father. What child in these lands isn’t his.” Her tone was dry as she dared the woman to come up with a valid response, but her temper was already lightly up at the second comment that Tokyo had graced her with.

There was a spark of darkness in Firefly’s eyes as she asked, ”You call him a respectable and powerful leader. Tokyo I don’t know but I think your view on the world is flawed.” She laughed bitterly as she raised a brow and gave the off color comment on the Haku that she knew. ”One to rises so quickly on the blood of the innocent and the backs of those they murder only falls just as quickly.” Her eye sparkled as she shook her head sadly. ”Don’t be surprised when the world around you comes crashing down and you realize reality isn’t as sweet as this diluted dream he’s got you trapped in.” Firefly knew from experience just what Haku could do and she wasn’t surprised that he had found others that could believe his web of lines.

She had been about to turn away when she caught the quick look of King before he ducked back into his pouch. There was no humor in her words as she left off. ”Let me give you one sound piece of advice. Don’t trust the man with anything you prize. All you hold dear just might vanish in the blink of an eye. Family or not.” She knew how unstable Haku was and the things he’d done to his own kin and blood. She didn’t expect him to do anything better with this new spawn he’d created.

She smirked as she tossed her curly locks over one shoulder and turned to leave, addressing the woman curtly as she moved away. ”If you don’t mind, I have an appointment with Inferni.” The devilish look on her face apparent as she just hoped the little wretch would take word back to Haku that Firefly was in league with the clan. She had no doubt that he would believe it, even better, she hoped he’d lose his temper and take it out on the toad that brought trouble to his door.

He had been traveling outside of the borders, irritated because his hunting had needed to increase because of Sicarus’ condition. It sucked, to be frank and honest. That giant coyote had done a number on his friend, and now Kai was stuck pulling weight for both of them. Still, he did so because it was needed, and he wasn’t trying to let Haku think the two of them would need any assistant. They were both strong men and it was only right that they should keep themselves together. Especially since they were in a war, of all things. Keeping this in mind, Kai swallowed his ego and resolved himself to keep them both in check.

He wasn’t far from Dahlia when a woman’s scent caught his attention. She was from his pack, and judging by the secondary scent, Haku’s woman. There was a child with her, this was apparent. As he trotted after this, he began to hear voices, and stiffened at the tone. Someone else was with her, and by the sound of it, someone who wasn’t friendly. His baby blue eyes darkened a shade as his speed increased, and soon enough, Kai broke into the clearing and found that sure enough, his pack mate (and wow, a gorgeous one at that) was facing off a rather cranky looking woman who was, from what he managed to catch, speaking ill of their leader. Anger rushed into Kai’s body, putting him on edge, and he stormed directly up to the green eyed female, glaring at her viciously.

“So you’re planning to talk shit on our leader and parade off to the coyotes? Why don’t you apologize to the lady,” he added, muscles tensed and ready to attack. Young as he was, Kai understood that if his leader had chosen the woman to bear his children, she had to be somewhere high up in the ranks. The green eyed she wolf was neither from his pack, nor had any business sticking her nose into theirs. At least, Kai didn’t know that—and if he had, he would have expected the same regardless. No one got to attack his leader and get away with it, especially when he was around to hear it.

gah, totally missed the fact this was replied to, i need to pay more attention to threads not in ddm. 427 words

Of course she would be bitter. She had had Haku's attention, affection, whatever.. And then lost it. Of course she would be jealous of Tokyo's favored place in the ranks of Dahlia de Mai. Of course she would be jealous of the potential that King had, the potential that her own two nearly-grown sons had squandered. The fact that her reaction made sense did not, of course, justify it in any way. It still angered Tokyo, especially when she had hoped for some sort of friendly encounter. Their last one was not unpleasant. Sure.. the last time they had met, Firefly had been warning Tokyo of Haku. And to be fair, it wasn't like Haku had been particularly kind to this newest mother of his spawn, but.. Tokyo didn't care much for kindness. He flattered her ego on their first encounter, and despite the fact that King's conception was effectively rape, his cleverness of using blackmail had impressed her.

And to most wolves, yes, the Dahlian female's perspective was flawed. But she was not anywhere near self-aware enough to observe this fact, let alone to respect it being pointed out by others. It wasn't even that Haku treated Tokyo particularly nicely; she had possessed a glimpse into his manipulations and the (lesser) corruptness in her own soul had appreciated the view. If it weren't for the personal insults towards the father of her child, the comment about Inferni wouldn't have bothered her, really. The war was something removed from herself. She was not affected from it with anything beyond a general annoyance at the new inconvenience in her life. Yeah, of course she hoped Dahlia won.. But she was apathetic about actually participating herself. The words that Firefly spoke, though.. Were enough that Tokyo would have justification for hurting her. A treacherous spy, feeding information to the enemy.

She didn't know the male that stormed up to her side, but he smelled of Dahlia and she liked him pretty instantly for his words. It was nice to have a bit of weight behind any threat she might make, a bit of muscle behind her words. Tokyo was a ranking member, and she fully intended to pull that rank and punish Firefly for her insolence. That is.. unless she apologized. She would be gracious, and generous. The other woman would have one chance to redeem herself. "You have no idea what you're talking about, Firefly. You're an exile. You have no place to speak that way. I would take his advice and apologize, if you know what's good for you."

She had been glaring at the bitch when another showed up. She glared towards the male that suddenly paraded before her and began to spatter out annoyances. Another damn loyal crony of the bastard was blabbing away about what she needed to do with her time right now. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes as he demanded that she apologize for the words that she had shared with Tokyo. She glared at him with outright disgust as she opened her maw to speak, only to be interrupted by the damn fool who had stopped her in her travels to begin with.

She turned her eyes towards Tokyo, who was voicing her own opinions of Firefly’s words. She snorted and spoke dryly. ”I was never exiled from the pack, I made my own choice when I left.” She wondered just what rumors had rolled out from when Cercelee and she had had their confrontation when she’d left the pack. She flicked her ears back towards the male as she growled. ”And I have nothing to apologize for.” Her eyes dark as she voiced her own opinion. She didn’t even stop to think what might happen for the words she spoke now.

Anger, hot and rash, belonged to the youth. Kai was a beast who recognized only strength and weakness, and who could not stand to see these orders disturbed in his world. His dark claws dug into the earth, but it was his muscles that tensed, ready for an attack. His head lowered, eyes going dark as his ears pinned against his head, fur rising to make his all ready ninety pound form more impressive. This was unacceptable, and he would not stand to see Haku or Haku’s woman insulted, especially by some bratty exile. As one himself, Kai could not believe that Haku would have removed anyone without reason, especially considering the bitch was going to the COYOTES of all things.

Even though his body demanded he move, Kai was well trained, and he was going to remain between the women until the beautiful blue eyed she wolf told him otherwise. Her scent indicated her ownership, and his belonged to the same man, and no doubt her word would be close enough to his alpha’s to decide what he would do.

should we switch up order a little and have mel post next, maybe? 351 words.

Tokyo was faced with contradicting stories. She was being lied to by either Haku or Firefly, and honestly, she didn't care which it was. She believed the one of the person that mattered more, of the person who had the most potential to improve her life. And was inclined to disbelieve those that angered her, which Firefly definitely had. She chose to leave? Yeah, that was likely. Made sense as a rationalization, to console oneself in the pain of being kicked out.. But didn't make it true. Physically weak as Tokyo was, and in this particular instance caring for an infant, she would typically just let this slide. Storm off in a huff, report back to her leaders of the insolence she encountered.

But some twist of fate had placed a weapon in her hand. A young, strong, loyal Dahlian. Angered at the insults thrown at the leader and his lady. She could feel the tension radiating off his form. It didn't take a lot of perception to pick up on the fact that he was ready, no.. wanted a fight? She hadn't held this sort of power over another since Champ had left her. It rushed to her head, and there was no hesitation in her voice as next she spoke simply. "Hurt her."

Slight nervousness hit her only afterward. Tokyo didn't typically regret things, but she had enough experience with life to know that actions had consequences. Most of the time she could get by dodging those consequences, but it was important to plan in advance for how to get out of something scot-free. She shouldn't have any problems in this case. This was a dirty traitor, an exile with intentions to provide information to the pack that Dahlia was warring with. If and when anyone found out.. she would only be rewarded for her loyal actions in the war effort. And besides, it wasn't like she intended to hurt Firefly herself.. She was merely supervising, encouraging. There was much less guilt in being the one to order the violence than the one enacting it. Yes. She would be fine.

Hurt her

Kai’s muscles, spun tight into a coiled spring, released at the words. He was her subordinate, he was her tool. As he had sworn to Haku the day he had come into Dahlia de Mai, he would fight. There was no hesitation in his movement, no moment of doubt or question in his actions. Above all else, Kai was a creature that knew the world in simple terms, in strength and violence and in the need to obey his superiors. All four of his feet struck the ground, barreling the massive male towards the much taller Optime she-wolf.

He did not stop to consider that she was weaker, that she was anything less then the target of his attack. Kai was not one to consider a woman anything less then a man, though Sicarus had begun to explain these things to him, and they made sense. Bending his legs and throwing his body forward, Kai’s mouth opened wide and his teeth sought the throat, the shoulder, like he was doing nothing more then hunting a deer. If he was able to get her on the ground, he would end this all too quickly. There was nothing behind his eyes but the blind and obedient darkness of a born follower.

The words that Tokyo uttered were not what Firefly had expected but her eyes narrowed slightly before surprise that the male was actually obeying her. She screamed as the heavy form of the male moved towards her, it was like slow motion as she could feel his hot breath on her face, just barely able to turn as his weight crashed into her. She could feel the sharp razor hot sheer of his fangs meeting her shoulder and the tearing of flesh as his weight and gravity brought him crashing back down to the ground, throwing her back in the process.

Her right leg twisted underneath her as she felt her left arm go numb, trying to push the beast away from her as she screamed to the bitch who had uttered the command. ”Tokyo, don’t! I’m pregnant!” her words were a babble, hysterics catching her as her heart pounded as the stench of blood filled the air. She kicked out at the beast with her left leg as she tried to beat him off with her right hand, her claws lashing out at his face as she knew it was hopeless.

This was not the way she was supposed to die. She could feel dread pulling up in her heart as she tried to keep her head down, not knowing what was going to happen next but having a feeling that she had lost her temper for the past time perhaps.

urg, i am slow. 310 words

The immediate response threw Tokyo a bit off guard. It was one thing to want something to happen, it was quite another to witness it occurring before one's very eyes. Did Firefly really deserve this? Of course, of course she did, what was with all this second guessing of herself lately? Every decision she made was entirely and totally right. Regrets were a waste of time and effort and emotional pain. It was still difficult to watch the young Dahlian tear into someone she had once respected and admired. So her ice blue eyes slid away, slid to the little puppy peeking out once more, fascinated by these strange actions that these grown ups were performing. She pet him idly.

Some of Firefly's words stood out amongst the rest. Pregnant? Yeah, that was likely. She wasn't even showing at all. That was a stupid lie to try. Tokyo had given a better one to Corvus when he had been laying into her - some bullshit plea for her life in order to tend to some infant puppies back at her den. Pregnant or not, the Dahlian female had no interest in committing murder. She didn't have much of a conscience, but she doubted that that the sliver that existed would stand for something "evil" to that degree. It was upset enough on occasion of the sort-of-murders she had committed with her first litter. That hadn't really counted though because the puppies she killed were not real creatures, yet. There were merely balls of squirming furry potential. Firefly, though, was a real wolf, and killing her would most definitely count as murder.

"Stop. She's learned her lesson." Tokyo felt like she should justify her decision more, considering how gung-ho the young Dahlian was about it all. "We are not at war with her pack, and should not give them reason to change that."

Haven should probably come in now?

In Character

Even as the white and tan woman fell, Kai had all but shut off. His teeth and body were functioning, but his brain was nothing more then a dull, broken circuit. He wanted blood, and he wanted it now. His muscles tensed and moved, avoiding the hand that came at his face. Kai jumped aside, twisted his head, and rushed forward once more. Even with the woman’s voice screaming, he heard nothing. Her head was out of his range so he struck out for what he could find—her arms, her exposed sides. None of his blows held, as he was still doing his best to avoid her terribly sharp claws.

Somewhere in the background, he heard Tokyo. But her voice was lost in the screams, and he saw before him not a stranger, but his own mother. He hated her, suddenly and wholly, and wanted to make her hurt. A terrible growl ripped from his throat and he pushed further, attacking with more bravado and more intent. He wouldn’t kill her, but he would make sure she didn’t forget who he was.

Rawr Haven is RAWR! 300+

As he had done his border patrols that day he had come across Firefly's scent leaving the packlands and heading north. With the advent of the war that had started between Dahlia and Inferni it made the Knight incredibly nervous to have his pregnant aunt heading directly into the eye of the storm. He had sat there for a few moments on Drogon, deliberating what to do. Eventually he had decided that despite facing a possible tongue-lashing for trailing her that making sure that she was safe was the more important thing. He wouldn't be able to sit easy until he knew that she was safe back in Cour des Miracles and the best way to assure that was to go after her. So, spurring Drogon forward, he had started to follow her trail up into the north reaches of Nova Soctia.

The further Haven traveled the more the sense of unease grew within his gut. He didn't know what Firefly was doing all the way up here, but he had a bad feeling about it. His back was straight as a board as he rode after her, shoulders tense from the foreboding feeling that filled him to the brim. When the distant sounds of a scuffle and voices hit his ears his pupils contracted to mere pinpricks. Haven kicked Drogon into a full-on gallop as his stomach twisted uneasily. Something wasn't right and before he even got there he knew that Firefly was involved in whatever was going on up ahead.

As the horse and rider came into sight of the trio of wolves an inferno of anger exploded inside the Aatte male. Instantly his face contorted into a fearsome snarl as the hair along his neck stood on end. Drogon shied at the smell of blood and the sight of flashing fangs but Haven quickly launched himself from the stallion's back. He landed with a heavy thud and his hand reached back and unsheathed his sword in one quick movement. A war cry tore from his throat as he charged headlong at Firefly's attacker, Vowkeeper thirsting for the bastard's blood.
