lost into the weight of gravity

At first it felt like a risk. Crimson Dreams was safe and secure, a close-knit group of able-bodied wolves that took great measure to guard their borders and their young. Colibri had never felt more protected, and yet, she had never felt quite so useless, either. When she came here, it had been with the grievous loss of her tail, something that had kept her from hunting throughout the winter months. Now that it had fully healed, she had taken a tumble in the kitchen, injuring her head and leaving her once again in recovery. As long as she didn't run around or bump the back of her skull, it was not a huge hindrance, but it just drove home how pathetic a wolf she really was. So, knowing the risk and carrying it close to her heart, she stole out across the borders anyway. She needed to do something, even if it was only to prove it to herself.

The fresh spring air soothed her, though, and the further she wandered, the more emboldened she became. No one had informed Colibri of the armistice between Dahlia de Mai and Inferni, but her senses could easily detect that the fighting had ceased, if only for now. She took a moment to shift upright into her more comfortable Optime form, trading camouflage for grace. Flowers were blooming, their sunkissed faces bringing a smile to the shy female's face. Flowers... How was the flower pack doing, after the conflict? She realized that she was not a long walk from the outskirts of her old territory. Her paws had carried her subconsciously in that direction, towards the place she had barely escaped. No one would be coming to save her this time, if she was attacked... but she couldn't catch her father's scent anywhere. It seemed... safe.

Still smiling, albeit wistfully this time, the chocolate-furred werewolf padded through the field, the tall grass rustling about her hips. She probably wouldn't call for anyone -- who knows who would answer? But they wouldn't mind if she stood near the border, just for a little while, right? Hopefully... Auntie Mew, Emwe, and Conor were all right. And Cercelee was back in charge, she had to be. There weren't any traps left, so everything must be back to normal. She exhaled slowly, relieved to see for herself that they still existed, even though she had not been a part of their family for more than a season now.
