He didn't understand what made then whirl around in the air. They used their front paws which weren't really paws at all. Their shape was too different to make then anything like the things that walked on the ground of the things that swam in the lake. Was it the air that pushed them along? Alder could hardly contain the questions, speaking his unknowing in a long whine just as he would if they had the face of his mother. She understood that he didn’t know what the answer was when he made that noise, and then he would politely speak it the best he could and she would give him the full and complete answer. She was smart and knew everything he did not. She would know this too, but she was sleeping or was she off doing those things that made her a grown-up. Alder looked around, just in case she was standing behind him quietly as she sometimes did. But she wasn’t there, and his blue eyes looked back up to the tree, his curiosity turning to frustration ever so steadily.

Then a voice made him turn around. The little male put his rump on the ground, his tail following the rest of his body and becoming still and unmoving. Blue eyes looked at the older pup and then looked away and into the woodland floor below him. He was listening, though avoided anything that might rise a reaction from the other. Alder turned his cheek to the nameless Dreamer, to keep any idea of even a playful challenge from being given to him. He should know who he was, for he smelt of the alpha and her puppies and so he must be one as well, but until recently he had been just looking from afar. He didn’t need to know anyone’s names, his mother took care of that cataloging. But, again, she was not here.

Theres are some bwirds. he spoke, giving the tawny boy as glance of his blue water hued gaze. Averting them once again he looked to the tree and tried to gain some composure and some courage. He liked to play, he liked the idea of friends and he wanted to show him that he was friendly just as everyone else was. I’mmm Alder. he turned his face once again, remembering what his mother had said again and again, he had a voice and he needed to use it.
