indent"Beppe?!"

indentThe name, albeit it rang not to Nikolaos, made Ari jolt upwards. Memories of his meeting of the other on the beach and them getting out of the thunderstorm weeks before flashed behind his eyelids when he blinked, and he felt the obvious pull to go to the source of the sound. Even though it was in the midst of the oncoming flames. "We must help," Ari murmured, getting up and disappearing toward the smoldering catastrophe of embers and smoke. "What?" cried an exasperated Nikolaos, but Ari was already gone.

indentThe source of the cry was a dark woman, low to the ground and heaving for breath. Ari's memory rang with the thought that this was Beppe's mother. Despite the fact that a sour taste remained in his mouth of his own mother, Beppe seemed to love her dearly and she must care for him if she were to call for him so. Therefore he felt it absolutely necessary to help her however he could. She moved to her side, kneeling. "Ma'am," he murmured, to get her attention, "We need to get out of here before the fire catches up. I can help you find Beppe, too." At this point Nikolaos jogged from where they had came, looking impassively between his brother and the stranger. He went to her other side, ready to help as well. She had been exposed to the flames and smoke far longer than them, so they had the power to help her further into the mountains and into safety.

indentThe bad side of it was that they didn't know if they would find Beppe there or not.
