Though it had been some time since the silver-furred woman had been injured, she was still in the process of healing. Age slowed this porcess considerably, it seemed, and all the salt water in the world did nothing to expedite the process. Though there was pain in her walk, the limp had almost disappeared, marring her step only just slightly. It was a light drag in her right foreleg, hardly noticable unless one was searching for weaknesses. Such a thing would not be overlooked by any combatant, and so Kaena did not think she could fight again, not unless she had to. The scarred coyote had been through hell and back, but even she knew when to call it quits, when her chances were calculating survival and not simple victory.

The borders needed her regardless of the consequence, though—this was something she could take care of no matter what. The clan had few scouts, and thus far no one since Anselm had proven themselves quite as capable of mastering the skill. The de le Poer's superb knowledge of Inferni, the territories surrounding, and indeed, the whole known world—the coy-wolf wondered if anyone would be able to come close to the former Optio, let alone equal him. The yowling call had driven her from her spot lounging near the caves, having already performed her own border duty earlier in the day. She went with little urgency, for the voice calling her was none other than Cotl—she recognized that he had already greeted whoever was there. If it was an emergency, there would have been the lilt of urgency to his voice.

The coyote woman came across the shorter hybrid and another shorter, smaller hybrid, looking from one to the other with a lifted brow. “Hello, Cotl,” she said. “Who's this?”
