Ah, so this wolf shared more then age with Amos. Respectfully, the old coyote listened to Kesho's tale, silent until the male had finished. "Eight years." Breathed Amos, grasping that time span in his mind. He was nine, and could barely remember his first year of life. Some things were still stuck in the old coyote's mind, like the beauty of the spots on the top of his mother's muzzle, or how his favorite toy had been a faded blue train with a face.
To haunt a guy for eight years, an event would have to be very traumatic. Having experienced the death of a mate, Amos knew that that alone was terrible. But his mate had died from a disease, and there had been several days leading up to it. He had time to say good bye.
Kesho's mate was killed. The old coyote sighed with sympathy.
Moving away from the grim topic of the death of loved ones, the Amos nodded in answer to the last statement Kesho made. "Mighty long. Meet quite tha manahgahrie of wolves on mah way 'ere." There, that was a happier topic. Amos smiled.
It would be much easier to divulge tales of the crazy wolves that Amos had passed on his journey. Some of them had been quite hilarious, and those tales had no emotional strings attached to them.
