YAY!
Oak emerged from the leaves emitting a sharp squeak, startled senseless by the sound of the loud thump. A few of the brightly-colored leaves clung to his fur, but he remained completely unaware of them. Afraid that danger had found him after all, his cerulean eyes danced wildly, searching for the source of the noise. They lit upon a much larger male and inspected him closely, trying to understand how he had appeared, seemingly out of thin air. He could draw no conclusion that made sense to him, and his instincts reverted to his initial fear of the stranger. But the magic-wolf didn't seem menacing, and in another second he was telling him not to be afraid, that he was a friend. Having no reason to distrust the words spoken to him, Oak smiled, his tail picking up a steady beat at his heels.
Oh, you scared me, he admitted, much as he regretted being scared at all. He was a little bit ashamed, as fear was his most hated emotion. He would much rather be brave and strong all the time, without even the slightest hiccup of frightfulness. His own shame didn't hold his attention for long, however; right now, Oak was more concerned with his new "friend," and where on earth he had come from. How'd you get here so fast? Are you magic? he wondered, his eyes wide as he gazed up at the crimson-furred brute. Magic was mysterious and wonderful, explaining the unexplained, and he longed for it to be real.
