Cambria very much doubted that anyone could claim winter to be their favorite of all the seasons. It was not a good time of the year, especially not from a healer's perspective. All life had to struggle to survive through the frigid moons. Sickness and death conquered life more in the winter than in any other season and this was the first winter she would weather as a practitioner. She had detected no hints of illness in any of her packmates and sincerely hoped that it would stay that way. The Marino was used to only having one patient at a time; what would happen if a large portion of the pack got sick? The chocolate fey brushed these worries from her mind for the moment though. Their bed was not a place where she wanted to dwell on "what ifs" and "maybes". They were there for the moment.

Each movement her mate made that brought them closer together made her heart beat with extra contentment. Mati's nose against her shoulder made a happy tingling rise up her neck. Here it didn't seem like winter at all. That harsh season could not touch them here, could not wrap its chill around their skin. Until the accidental tickle, Cambi could have easily drifted back into sleep but now her mind was more alert and open to the world. The girl had figured after she had said that the touch had tickled, that it would stop. Mati's hands seemed to have a different idea though, and continued the light touches that made her laugh. She was doing it on purpose now! "Mati!" she exclaimed in mock offense. Her slender body squirmed in a small, vain attempt to escape the tickling of her mate's fingers.
