Element quieted himself immediately, save for only a few whimpers here and there. He didn't want to attract anything that might make his injury larger or more painful, and he certainly didn't want to attract anything that would try to finish Element off. He knew all too well of the ways of the wild - those that are weak die. And Element was certainly in a position of weakness now. How was he going to get home if he couldn't move for pain? The foreleg that was broken - it was his left one - was bent at a strange angle and it was currently throbbing with steady beats of pain. Pain. Pain. Element groaned and set his head down on the leaves that at least provided some sort of cushion for his poor leg.

He took deep breaths, willing himself not to sleep or pass out. He stopped being dizzy, but he still felt a bit light-headed - but if he fell asleep now, something like a large carnivore would surely come and eat him. Perhaps an eagle. Element had witnessed once an eagle swoop down to capture a raccoon - a raccoon that wasn't much smaller than himself. He was sure that a bird of prey may swoop down to capture him if it felt so inclined - but it wouldn't put up a fight long if Element could scratch it while awake. While asleep? The stakes were high, and being unconscious wasn't a good thing right now.

Suddenly, Element smelled something despite his wracking pain. Trying to pull his mind away from his injury and towards the scent, he detected canine. His ears perked straight up - he didn't want to turn around for fear of hurting himself more - his leg was already in a bad position. He knew that the canine was interested in him, however - the scent told him that much. It lingered. And even though most of the canines Element had met were friendly and didn't hurt him, the rules had changed now. Element was crippled, at least for a little while, and he wasn't sure what this canine was aiming to do.

However, words quickly soothed Element's fears - the wolf gave a small 'pss' sound and told him 'there, there'. He knew now that this wolf wasn't aiming to hurt him - if he was trying to hurt him, he would have done it already in Element's weakened state. But he had no reason to trick the broken and pain-wracked feline, so Element turned his head the best he could without hurting his leg further to examine his visitor.

The wolf was a stunning shade of orange with a paler underside. His eyes were a brilliant violet hue, gleaming in the darkness. He had a bag by his side, and Element wasn't sure what was in it, but his hand was by it. Element raised his gaze to the eyes that held sympathy for the creature, and he was warmed. He wrapped his tail around his injury and spoke.

"Who are you?" he asked. "Can you help me?" He didn't know if the canine wanted to or not, but he surely could - and it was a better chance than Element had staying out here in the wild, alone, all night with a broken leg. He wondered if the orange wolf would help him, and if so, what he would do - Element had no knowledge of broken limbs.
