Laying beside the boy, head down in the dirt trying to make the pup see that there was no danger, seconds seemed like minutes ticking by ever so slowly. It had been stupid of him to try and rattle up a reaction in him. Should have just picked him up and brought him home where he could wake up in the safety of the manor. The flinching little body caused the warrior to grimace in shame and guilt. Shock took over as Cypress began to sob and pushed himself into his thick ebony coat. Looking down at him with wide lighting tones eyes he could feel his heart sink and a lump build deep in his throat. He could hear what the pup was saying despite the fact that the sound was muffled from his fur. Finally he was face to face with those clear blue eyes that Cypress had received form Anu. What was he suppose to say?

How could he lie to those eyes? Those were the eyes that he had shared secrets with and looked up too for leadership. Yet, he didn't want Cypress to think he was a monster. He could just say he had scared it off. “It wasn't a monster Cypress.” He reassured with gentle eyes and he continued to nudge the boys head and face hoping he would calm down. Ghita would have killed him by now if this was their boy. “It was just a wolf. I big mean wolf.” Sighing he rose to his feet and grabbed the boy by the scruff, placing him on his feet. “Let's so home Cy. I'm sure Anu is worried sick about you.” What he didn't know couldn't hurt him right? At least he hoped that was right or he would be receiving some serious scolding. Trying to look confident he nudged the dark toned boy forward. Next time he would just bring him back to the manor like he would have from the beginning, Now he had to worry about protecting him from a fake wolf.
