"Why, Talitha?"

Why. Why was a good question. The word passed through the woman's mind, but no response came, her body going still as Cotl's hand found her shoulder in a possessive grip. Monsters appeared in many forms, and she had once only known of Gabriel. It was clear at that moment who else needed to be watched. Her home had transformed, from the remnants of what it had been into the flourishing kingdom it was becoming, and now harbored animals of vile sorts. Gabriel, Cotl, Hybrid. Creatures made for lives that couldn't truly be real. But they were. They were very real.

Her mind wrapped around the idea of eating another Luperci, wondering what had possessed the orange coyote to do such a thing. Why. It suited all situations. "I can find you something better to eat. Just leave this be, and come back to my den?" Her words seemed a simple request, but it lacked the meekness bound around most of her questions. Her voice was firm. She didn't ask. She commanded. And she wondered if Cotl would heed her words. In truth, it was stupid to think that the small coyote wouldn't; Talitha knew her tricks to convince him otherwise. She didn't want to use them.

The princess lifted her face from the Imaginifer's chest, taking a sideways glance at the remains on the ground. The intruder had been dealt with in a way that the woman approved of. It was how the German handled corpses that she felt so repulsive. First skinning his nephew, and now feasting on the remains of the Luperci. Her thoughts twisted to new realizations, remembering that Cotl had no wolf blood of his own. It left him with respect of the most miniscule sort in the crimson gaze of the Lykoi.
