It felt so good to just lay in the snow with his daughter. It had been far too long that he had lay in bed only able to get up to fix the fire or look out the bedroom windows with discomfort, pain, and yearning. Never before had the warrior been bed ridden or unable to be out and about doing his duties. Although he had complete confidence in his pack as peacekeepers, fighters, and intellects, he hated being confined in his own body. He was a father, a warrior, a lover, not a sick little puppy and he refused to be cooped up inside his room when he could move with little pain now.
Wrapping his arm around his little girl he pulled her into his side. His family was the most precious thing in the world to him. The constant silence of his room had left the Knight with plenty of time to think things through. Although he was still frustrated that Kansas had never come, that he had to fight for both of their mates lives, he felt as close to at peace with the world as he had in a long time. “You're right.” He nodded in agreement, “It is a snail!” The words came out in a sense of excitement that a wolf could only have when playing with a pup's imagination.
Suddenly he looked at his daughter, cuddled into his side. She was so beautiful and unique with her snow white coat, turquoise eyes, black ears and spots that staggered across the from of her muzzle. She had her mothers adventurous spirit, or perhaps it was his curiosity. Either way all of their offspring seemed to need to know more and see more. “You know darling, you and your brothers and sister are the most important things in my life and I'll always be here for you even when you're all grown up. Even if you decide to move away from Crimson Dreams.” Nudging her lightly he gave a wink, “You can always count on your ol' man.”
