Making progress despite the belly.
#16
He was not looking at her and his attention was off in his own thoughts for a moment. Then suddenly he snapped to, hearing the 'or we're tired..'. He turned his head towards her in a flash. His 'normal' look towards her was coming back. He was recovering from the touching incident.

"I have no intention of letting a pregnant wolf do any laborious work. No pack of wolves should allow it, either." He said somewhat bitterly. He knew nothing of her pack. He had a thought that she was a loner as well, just in a different way. Then he found himself wanting to hold her and letting her know she was not that alone. He wanted to comfort her and protect her.

He looked around as she mentioned putting a pal on the roof to melt snow.

"No fireplace of any sort in here?" He saw none and he assumed she would've mentioned it for the pal of water.

What a fool, he thought to himself. He was letting her sit on the ground. He showed no sign of making fun of her, or judging her about her being stuck on the ground. In fact, he seemed very understanding and had a strong desire to help her. He grabbed both her hands, at first too delicately. He still had a funny feeling when touching her, but this was a little different. He hoisted her up, doing his best to take all the work out of it for her. Although small, those lean stringy muscles still packed enough power to do quite a good job at hosting her and her parasites up.

He found himself gazing into her face and not releasing the grip right away. After catching himself he released and looked away embarrassed. He looked around for a broom. Spotting it on the ground, he went over and grabbed it. He began sweeping immediately.
