Things were steadily getting more complicated. She thought that once Strelein had found her at the borders half dead, if only, that life would get better. Although the beginning of settling in was rough, Ever had found her knight after all. He had come at her time of need, unexpected, but still there. Ezra was her rope. She had used him to climb out of the dark abyss her past had dug out for her. The man was her drug, her antidote to all of her bad dreams, poisoned thoughts, and break downs she couldn’t control.

She had found herself describing the color of his eyes in her mind with tones of beautiful tints in the real world. All the while living in a fantasy of her own. Even after spending cold nights wrapped in each other’s arms, the girl longed for the smell of his fur. It was like the light that woke her up every morning for her job was a threat to them both.

So naturally, when Vigilante asked of her happiness Ever responded immediately.

Yes, of course,

She found herself wondering, suddenly, what he thought about the idea of her and Ezra’s mateship. It wasn’t the first time the thought occurred, however. Vigilante was not her blood father, barely her guardian anymore, yet she felt like he had one of the biggest impacts on her life. He wasn’t a blurry image in the back of her mind as most parents turned into once children became older. The caramel king was someone Ever cared deeply for as well as Ayita. She worried often about their whereabouts, more now when time with both of them was limited, rather than when she would see them most every night when she was young.

Though, deeply, the silver pristine girl knew that she would have to let go soon. And certainly they both must have been happy with her choice, she supposed. But what could Vigilante do if he was not? Deny her and Ezra’s rights to be happy in life with each other? Ever knew the noble leader would not be so strict as to make such a heartless decision. If he truly was unhappy with the mateship he could have approached her himself. That was only a theory, of course. He could have as well as anyone gone on suffering.
