For Caspa, there was little more available for discernment than a contrary child, though she did have the feeling that her disdainful bad temper was stronger than the situation called for. Maybe she was a girl used to argument and being difficult to gain ground. Caspa thought of her brother Bazyl, and how others would fade beside his tantrums, and wondered if Elvira had siblings. "I am Caspa. I hope we can meet in a less sinister manner some time," she said, straight faced but amused within at the strangeness of the young woman and the girl child in the dark, each carrying poisons. It seemed funny, but not to her liking, and she hoped it was just an ironic coincidence, and not a portent of more darkness to come.
