Cruel, blackened claws dug into the soft soil in the golden, gentle rustling sea. It wasn’t possible for the starved demon to move forth without warning the girl with the slight sound of approach. There was no white noise to cover the sound of his hulking form breaking through the pale yellow stalks. But to his advantage, once the little, frightened girl was found, there would be nowhere for her to hide. Haku didn’t know the setting of this world, but it seemed monotone and unchanging. With him, the darkly spirited Soul male brought involuntary change to this pitiful world of hers. Who would wish to spend their eternity here. Arrogance clouded the simple truth from him. The girl that had bled out before him had been young and carried blue ignorance in her honey eyes. She probably didn’t know what this place was. But he did, and the laugh rumbled silently within his deep throat.

Jagged teeth, stained permanently yellow and temporarily red, glared at the world as he moved through it. He couldn’t catch her with the element of surprise, but fear made lesser creatures make poor choices. Burning depths of lovely blue squinted, though it didn’t make him less blind in Noir’s strange, ethereal dimension. His pathetic excuse for a tail waved behind him, slow and with crippled grace as it had when he had been alive and he had been on the trail of something moist and delicious. Would this girl’s world allow the sweet taste of red to set these dead taste buds on fire? Oh, how he craved to soothe this hunger of his. But it was an impossibility, he knew. Nothing could soothe his desire for blood and death. But the need could be muted, temporarily, and he’d rather have that than nothing at all. Stained tongue leaped out to moisten dry, cracked lips. So hungry…
