It was one hell of a mystery why Jackson found this to be a good idea. His short life wasn't one that was filled with much conflict. Sibling rivalry with his sister was dealt with as a war with words and attitude, and his experience with physical conflict was practically non-existent. He had the attitude down pat, oh yes, and the fact that it led to this perhaps gave him a sense of false confidence. Either way, his arrogance and lack of respect landed him the response he was fishing for.
The pack wolf was done with words, which was just fine and dandy with the doggish hybrid. The earthen-hued wolf lunged toward him, bared and gleaming teeth the forefront of his threat. Instinctively Jackson took quick steps back to remove himself from the other's reach. Arrogance kept him from moving too far back, and in that close proximity the youth launched an attack of his own, teeth snapping at the blue-eyed face. The thrill and confidence in his attempt to strike put his focus on the here and now of his offense, with little regard for the ever necessary defense.
