Her hug was well welcomed but he did well to keep the object hidden behind him without raising to much suspicion. He was beginning to thank himself inwardly for starting this conversation, because if he had just proposed to her she wouldn’t have understood the gravity of it. He smiled down at her for a moment looking over her wild hair and pausing a moment before continuing his explanation.
“The concept of marriage comes from humanity. From what I’m told they lost their connection to their primal feelings, lost a bit of what they were. But they were a species that tended to mate for life as we do. What the difference is, while we each consider each other mates, it wouldn’t be an official proclamation of my love and affection for you without asking you to be my wife.” He paused a moment as he slipped back down to her level, on his knees giving her a gentle kiss across her nose.
“A human male would typically buy an expensive ring, get down on one knee and ask the woman he wanted to marry for her hand in marriage. Then if she agreed they would plan the marriage. After a ceremony they were considered one and the bond then was cemented as permanent. “ the last bit was left to hang on her. He wanted to propose to her but wanted her to know what exactly he was about to ask, the gravity of it. Not many wolves that he knew of followed this tradition, and while they were firmly entrenched together, if he was to be any kind of man he needed to do this for her, so she knew he wasn’t going anywhere.
