Eventually, it would become inevitable that he would meet another soul. Some would think the shroud of darkness would protect a simple wanderer, but someone else was always awake to ensure no foul play would happen along the borders of their home. But Itachi was merely passing by, though admittedly close enough to his old home’s borders to draw attention, was he detected. Fingers were solidly interlaced in the horse’s reins and parts of the rich, dark mane, for it was necessary to have something to hold on to as long as he was on top of the pleasantly spirited mare. Sirius had allowed him to keep this mount after the first Freetown trip despite his failure, but Itachi wasn’t an experienced rider and had the time to regret this now. But there were no nasty surprises or incidents to throw him off.

He pulled slightly at the reins to signal the horse to stop as the sound of approach reached blonde hybrid audits. Specific scent had yet to be caught by the Lykoi’s sensitive olfaction, but the shift in air was lazy and slow, and not in his favour this early morning. Golden spun pelt remained at ease behind the male’s splendid coat of pitch black and chaos stars, though he decided, after a short moment of thought, to dismount the horse and allow his feet to connect with a stable, reliable ground of rock and dirt once again. Perhaps the safest chose was to move away and avoid another entirely, but it was not his wish to do so. Practise could make perfect, and he was in dire need of this. Pale, almost white gloved, fingers held on to the leathery rope that ensured that the horse would remain with him, and he reached to pat the soft, dark muzzle as he stared out into the lightless morning, awaiting the approaching male and his steed.
