Sometimes I find myself wondering

Alder wondered what the pup thought about the AniWayan conflict, if he understood what had happened and that they had all gone to war in defense of the puppy’s future as well as the entire pack’s next generation. But he was too shy to ask about it, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to express the question in a way in which the pup might be able to understand without feeling insecure or becoming upset. He had been upset at the mere thought of AniWaya right after the resolution had occurred. He still had a resentfulness seeded deep in his chest. Alder simply kept quiet, and forced his curiosity to focus elsewhere.

Instead of thinking about shadowed times Alder listened to the young wolf, smiling at his energy, expressive features and enthusiasm. He had no idea that the name had such a meaning, and his face showed his surprise. It’s the perfect name. He answered, a paw reaching out to greet the nose of the beautiful mare. She was friendly, and had a gentle air about her as he stood before the door.

Low speech was something Alder spoke freely with all the horses; second nature caused him to ask for her to easy with the puppy and thanked her for her patience. They called to one another in a horse-sounding way, and even the kitten meowed with the hopes of stepping into the conversation. Alder’s tail wagged, Sounds like she wants to stretch her legs. It could get stuffy in the stables for the horses, and despite the cold air, many thought it refreshing. He placed a hand on the stable door, waiting for the young male to stand back.
