She couldn't believe that her sons were already turning 7 months. She had prepared a special meal for them the day before, sitting each one down separately and speaking with them about the ceremony to come afterward. She told them that they each needed to go on a hunt. They were to do it alone, by themselves - just them and nature. The animal that they caught, whatever it was, would need to be sacrificed, and they were not permitted to eat any of the animal's meat or taste its blood. The day after that the new adults would spend fasting and working to make something out of the bones of the creatures that they had caught.
As the sun sank down below the horizon, the Angela lifted her muzzle to call for her boys and any pack members who wished to join them and watch the ceremony. She had a large fire going in the center of the ceremonial part of their territory known as Maxia Negra and had a variety of meats there from various animals that she'd taken down in the few days prior to the ceremony. These she'd set out on furs on the ground for the pack members to browse and choose from. Naniko stood in the center of the bone-archway that stood at the far end of the territory, waiting for her boys to arrive.
Severus was the first to arrive, a long necklace hanging around his gray neck. Silver eyes came to rest upon his mother as he sat before her, bowing his head in greeting. He sat to wait for other canines in the pack to arrive before doing anything else. His brother Judas came next, a gris-gris hanging around his neck. She assumed that he'd stuffed the bones of the creature inside with other herbs and charms that would provide him with good luck in the coming year. The proud mother stood tall and waited for her last son to arrive at the ceremony, looking from face to face with a wide smile.
