Softly the small adult worked her way over to Adelle. Quiet whines came from her. Adelle's side was nuzzled, bringing an answering movement from Adelle. She stuck her nose into Dixie's neck, sniffing it and nuzzling along before reaching her tongue out, licking at the dog's face. Her tail swayed behind her as Dixie backed up, and explained again. Immediately Adelle lit up. She'd understood everything she'd been told! Proud of figuring out what she had been told Adelle almost forgot what they were doing. After a few moments Adelle settled back down, body tensed as she watched the mouse hole, waiting for the tiny creature to come back out.
Concentrating on this was fairly difficult for her. Adelle was still fairly young, and patience was not in her list of natural virtues. Adelle's determination to prove herself though was stronger than the impatience coursing through her. It felt like a long time, but at last a quivering nose stuck out. Adelle's whole body began to quiver, breathlessly waiting for the mouse to come out the rest of the way. Assured that everything was alright it came out the rest of the way. Adelle managed to wait for two more heartbeats before launching herself at the mouse. It didn't have a chance to escape, flattened under her paw. Adelle barked happily at the catch, unwilling to lift her paw in case it escaped.
