The anxious coywolf was glad to see that Insomnia had a smile on her face again. He was worried that, in the short spread that she seemed so upset, she wouldn’t want to spend time with him ever again. But he had to wonder why he even cared – he’d only just met this wolfess, just like he’d barely met Ciara before he realized he was enthralled with her. Perhaps he wasn’t as careless as he pretended to be – there was no other explanation for the way his insides differed so greatly from what came out. Either way, he wasn’t about to psychoanalyze himself now. Now, it was time to explore.
Climbing into the boat after Insomnia, he sniffed around at the many things inside and then turned to watch the ebony wolfess inspect what appeared to be a doll of some sort. He edged up beside her, sniffing at the trinket as well, and then allowed his eyes to wander over her slender face before placing a congratulatory lick on her cheek. That’s interesting, he said, and a wonder that it has stayed intact all this time. It must have been left behind by another luperci, for it wouldn’t have lasted if it had been made by a human.
Cerberus always broke into his archeological talk when he came across treasures like these. He couldn’t help it – his mind raced when he found things left behind, like a story frozen in time. He began to wonder, then, what had happened in order for someone to leave the boat in a state such as this, and who might have owned it in the past. Glancing around the holey floor of the vessel, he quirked a brow when he spied something partially concealed by debris. Nudging his snout into the mess, he uncovered a small, sheathed knife, and he smiled brightly at the discovery. It wasn’t often that he found what he hoped to, but it seemed as though today was his lucky day. Picking the knife up in his jaws, he turned to Insomnia with a wagging tail. Look a’ I foun’! he mumbled.
