He managed to make it nearly a yard to Ciara before she noticed him. Before she opened her eyes to look at him he surveyed her form, slightly surreal in the drag of the water. She had chosen a deep part of the stream to jump into, logically, and not even the small fry swimming about her milky legs could distract him. He breathed in her now watery scent, the chemicals of it shooting to his brain and affecting him like the strongest drug. But then she opened her honey eyes, and he saw the wary spark in them before she melted into comfortable submission and greeted him.
Zalen’s ear flicked and his brow furrowed ever so slightly, I have a name. He said before he could stop himself. Why shouldn’t she call him by name? Had he been elevated to such a high pedestal that she, or anyone else, could no longer reach him? Was he not just a male and she not just a female, he in his prime? Could she not see him for that?
Zalen shook his thinning ruff, a few tufts of black fur falling to the ground; he was shedding but not too terribly; Zalen still retained his regal appearance. He took the steps towards her the closed the distance between them and he bent down to place a lick on her muzzle; she even tasted good.
A shiver of testosterone and greed shot through Zalen like electricity; his eyes darted about for a moment; who was he looking for? Augustus? Titania? What could they do anyway? He was at the top around here, and all of New Dawn’s females were his after all.
