Seeing that Hadley wanted some snacks and didn’t mind her taking off to get them, Dixie went without hesitation. After entering the Court House, she slowed and waved to a few pack mates, speaking soft greetings every now and then as she made her way downstairs to the storage room. Once there, an empty canteen was strapped over her shoulder and both hands grabbed some jerky, enough to at least fill them up until they could get a real meal.
Next stop was the creek, where she leaned over and lapped at the cold water until her throat was no longer parched. The canteen was filled to the brim and then closed and hands filled with meat again as she began trotting back towards the barn and her partner for the day. Hadley was there still, working at getting everything out of the wagon and placed into different piles. Very organized and put together, he was.
Dixie grinned and stopped a few feet away from him, Here ya go, Hadley…figured you be pretty thirsty as well as hungry after all this workin’. Wanna take a little break and just snack for a few minutes?
