Axelle sensed the young mother’s anxiety, and as if she could read her mind, she stated what she thought that Terra was thinking, which had been right on the money. ”Well, Kit doesn’t seem like the type that would do anything drastic, like kill them or something. Knowing his personality, the worst thing he could do is leave you.” Axelle’s smile fell a little, knowing that the love of your life leaving you wasn’t that much better than him killing your pups, either. Some might even have preferred the latter, but Axelle doubted Terra would have.

The two-toned Marbas looked out toward the sun setting on the waters. The two women had been talking for a few hours it seemed, unless Axelle’s time schedule was wonky and she hadn’t been paying much attention to it on her way here. She got up off of the part of the ground where she sat before, as if to leave her friend soon, knowing she wanted to leave and get to Anathema’s borders before the middle of the night when all the crazies came out. She didn’t bring any weapons with her today, which would mean if she encountered some nutjob, she would have to shift down and fight them in Secui. ”Either way, my dear, you should tell him because he deserves to know. They are his.” As if Terra didn’t know. Axelle was relieved to know that Terra’s situation wasn’t as bad as hers had been. She was raped, stuck with the rapist’s pups, and wound up burning them alive, despite her motherly instinct over them. They reminded her too much of something that she wanted to forget. She never wanted to do that again; the next time she wanted to be pregnant, she wanted to have someone’s pups that she didn’t loathe.
