Geneva's lime green eyes crinkled with her deep smile. She absolutely loved Naniko's brood. But she found she harbored a considerable amount of affection for the pumpkin-colored pup. He was so bursting with goodwill and energy. It was hard not to feel the same way around him. She moved to kneel, closer to the pups.

"That's wonderful, Haven!" she said enthusiastically and winked back at him. She turned her attention back to the dark pup. Salem was adorable, scrunching his face trying to wink. She swallowed a laugh, not wanting to discourage him. "That's a good try. I'm sure you'll get it in no time."

She moved from the doorway, farther into the room so not as to block the door. Then she slid to the floor, crossing her legs and curling her tail around herself. "This is a story called Peter Pan," she said, opening up the first page of the slightly worn book to reveal the title page, the letters spelling out the words "Peter Pan" broad and spidery. "It is a story about a little boy who never grew up, and there are pirates, mermaids, pixies..."
