She was glad that the girl was recovering, that she hadn't frightened her too much. That was another reason why she didn't like pups so much; she never knew how to act around them. Should she be extra, sugary sweet? That would be misleading, wouldn't it? Not every person that Mati would come across in the future would be really really nice.

"It's not too hard." She said, picking up the two rocks. "You can probably only make one once you learn how to shift, like me. And like your...mothers." She couldn't say "mom and dad". "You just click these two rocks together. It's like magic, don't you think? Then you pick up the fish and throw it on there. It cooks...and then you take it off with a stick so you don't get burnt." She put the fish over the flame as it grew, adding more sticks around the edges.
