Just like the ocean needs the waves.

The door opened. She expected to find to the dark empty world that she had left just as the sun had set the night before. Instead she met the gaze of a black furred female. Her friend spoke her name, drawing her out of the prison her mind was becoming. A beacon, a ship to scoop the cast away of the waters edge and give refuse. Anu looked, unsure what to say. Her silent chest gave her no motivation, and only left her with her endless thoughts.

I just.. the words toppled off her lips, but they weren’t what she wanted to say. She didn’t matter. Her breath was steady, but each inhale was harder then the last. Her chest tightened, and her steady breath was suddenly gone. Her eyes that had been clear were suddenly dotted with moisture. Her deep exhaustion left her nothing to stop it, to stop the wall from falling.

He was alive, she was gone, and Anu wanted to dissolve into nothing. It was easy to choose the most pertinent and speak. Her voice was cracked, harsh and spoke of the tears that she could help but let fill her eyes. She’s not coming back.

Anu couldn’t even say her name.
