"They probably didn't have their priorities straight," Lannen said, his eyes sweeping the piles of human artifacts collecting dust. Their species had turned to dust and a jumbled tangle of junk, like all the stuff they had left behind. "I mean, they were obviously capable of a lot, but they didn't focus on their survival," the white man snorted. He had no idea how humans had ceased to exist. He only knew that they had left an entire world behind, full of things foreign to his instincts. He always had to think, to try before he attempted to do anything within the human world.

His brown eyes came back to the black and brown pelted male. He seemed to feel out of place and uncomfortable. The white man frowned, then shrugged. It really wasn't any of his business, but the guy seemed like decent enough company. Maybe he could get him to stick around for a while. "Half this crap is useless anyway, Sankor," he said.
