They were good for each other. They loved each other. But it had seemed Naniko had been the only one unable to see it. Or even accept it. It still confused Savina. Even with the knowledge of what had happened between the ex Commander and her mate in the past, it didn't add up. That night had been a mistake. They had been drunk. Kansas had told her as much and she knew he wasn't lying. He had felt awful about all of it. Yet when she had finally told her once best friend that she and Kansas were together she had been met with a sort of cold indifference. Where she had expected happy exclamations she had gotten nothing of the sort. But it would do no good to keep talking about it now. The only way to understand was to see how it had unfolded, and that was impossible for her brother. So she said nothing, only hugged him tighter when he did. She didn't want to think about it anymore.
Why. That word had been flowing in her head constantly since this all had happened. Why hadn't any of them noticed something amiss before? Why had Naniko been using that stuff? Why had she been so unwilling to admit she was wrong or give it up? Why didn't she even care that Cambria had been hurt? The thought of her daughter sent another shot of pain through her form and she grabbed Ehno tighter. Damn her. She should be back at home watching after her sick child, not out here alone in the rain. "Come Cambria è? Non dovrei averla lasciata..." Maybe he didn't know, maybe he hadn't checked in on her lately. Gods she hoped her pup would recover from this. She didn't know what she would do if she didn't.
