500+ words. ^___^

######Princess knew what had spilled all over the ground were art supplies, and she knew what they were used for. Likewise, her attempt at making conversation had only been that, since it was obvious what had happened. Regardless, it had worked, and Mati spoke in a tone that didn't seem like she wanted to bite Princess for coming close to her. That, at least, was a relief. . . Wasn't it? Perhaps she would have preferred if Mati had openly said, "Go away, I do not like you, and I hope you live a miserable life," though she did not expect her larger pack mate to say something like that to her ever. It seemed unlikely from someone related to Haven, whom Princess still held in such a good light that she refused to believe there could be anything bad about his sister. Once this was through, perhaps she would go seek out her lovely Knight, as she missed him terribly. The longing grew each day, and she knew she would have to go to him soon, for whatever reason. Now that she was alone with Mati, however, Princess knew that she could not leave until they talked about whatever was wrong between them. Both Ares and Haven would want that out of the two girls, wouldn't they? The relationship between herself and Haven was obvious to her, but there was something there between Mati and Ares, too. She did not know what, but there had to be something, or Mati would not have been offended so much by what Ares had said in anger that day.

######Taking the cowardly route, Princess studied the contents of the container, strewn across the fading grass. "What do you like to paint?" It was obvious that Mati painted, and since she had already asked one stupid question since coming across Haven's sister, she was not willing to ask another obvious one such as, "Do you paint?" For all intensive purposes, she wanted something good to come out of this meeting, and not for them to part ways with even more anger or frustration between them. More questions were bouncing around inside her head, and before she could stop it, another question slipped out, this one spoken in a tone that was less friendly, but more confused and hurt. "Why do you hate me?" No sooner were the words out of her mouth than she covered her mouth with her hand, almost surprised at herself for the outburst. It was obvious that the dressed girl was anxious to know the answer, but she had not meant to blurt the question out so suddenly. There was a proper way to go about things like this, but that certainly was not the way to do it. It should have been asked delicately! Instead, Princess was left standing there awkwardly, fighting the urge to run from Mati. She really liked Haven - not loved, certainly not after one night and one talk, but it was a possibility for the future - and she did not want his sister to hate her.
