The flag came down much easier than Silas would have expected. With a grin, he tied it around his neck so that it veiled the blue bandana already there and proudly stepped away from the counter with his new, improvised cape swaying. It had been a long time since he had seen a Russian flag, but it was something he had come to associate with home. He thought perhaps his sister would even like it – maybe it’d diminish her feeling of homesickness.

He heard a shuffled at the front of the store as the door opened & closed and a stranger stepped inside. Silas was instantly flooded with an unfamiliar scent and the fur along his nape began to rise. A voice sounded, and Silas took a few steps to move around a shelf and peer down the small aisle to where the front door was. "Hello," came his response, laid thick in a Russian accent.
