Vieira could not tell she was aggravating the woman without silence. Astaroth had taught her to refrain from speaking when it was not necessary. Sivaro nearly took her voice away, and Eris was neglectful. It was a natural reaction to remain silent. If asked to speak more, she might explode. "I have never fished before," she responded and felt inadequate. It was easier to kill prey on land back home and she had never been given the chance.

When they arrived at the caves, Vieira looked around and took note of the location. Kaena was on her way back down to the coast and she stumbled a little, but redirected and followed behind the woman. Her eyes looked over the ocean. It looked different than anything she had seen before. Eterne had been near an ocean but she was not allowed to go there. She was never allowed to go far from Astaroth on her own. For a moment, Vieira found herself planted on the rocks as Kaena moved downward as she soaked in the scene. Finally, she shook herself from her daze and followed down the rocky path to the water. "I have never seen the ocean before," she murmured automatically before realizing she had spoken without being spoken to or without permission. Her ears fell back against her head and she glanced away, hoping it would go unnoticed.
