The coyote woman nodded at the younger canine's admission. It didn't surprise her—fishing was generally a learned skill, and fish were not usually among the type of prey canines consumed often. Kaena was an anomaly in that she rather enjoyed the taste of fish flesh, despite its rubbery texture and sharp, spiny bones. The hybrid did suppose it was an acquired taste, but she didn't think Viei would care. The tawny-furred canine looked rather hungry, well beyond the point of refusing edible food if it was offered, though Kaena didn't know for sure. It was not as if the canine had actually quantified her hunger; she had simply responded that she was and nothing more. The hybrid had already grown used to the coyote's manner of speaking, just as easily as she'd become accustomed to Cotl's strange explosions of profanity.

"Fishing is not hard. Sit on a rock, look at the water. Wait for the fish to come by. They're usually bright and silver, so you can see them coming by," the hybrid responded, continuing closer to the water's edge. It would be easier to simply show the other canine what she meant, but a verbal explanation could not hurt. The other canine spoke rather softly, and Kae twisted her head to peer at her curiously. "No?" the hybrid inquired, raising her eyebrows. "You lived inland?" the hybrid continued, realizing she was unlikely to receive more information than she already knew without attaching a question. The hybrid had realized by now the canine was used to being spoken to first, and she wanted to encourage some small amount of autonomy in her, but she was not sure on how to go about that.
