Dark nose sniffed carefully at the thin air, seeking out the trails of scents that her siblings left. The inky black girl wanted to sure that she would be able to find her way back to them when she decided that she was done. It didn't take her long to pick up the scent either, which brought a very faint hint of relief to her. It wasn't often that Nox purposefully left her siblings, being alone was frightening and if something bad happened there wouldn't be anyone there to help her. Today though, Nox had decided to be big and brave. She and Zadi hadn't been able to find the fireflies that night and after he had called her smart, the girl had come up with a bright idea. She would find the fireflies during the day, when they would be easier for her to see in case they had their lights turned off, and she would bring her brother to see them at night, to make him more proud of her.

It didn't help at all that the D'Angelo girl was timid by nature, slow in maturity, at least mentally. She over seven months now, well on her way to adulthood, but her mind and heart were still very much that of a child. Her steps were soft and careful as she moved through the barren lands, keeping her tiny form hunched close to the ground, tail kept tightly between her legs as she moved along. Paranoia filled gold-green eyes, much as it always did, and they darted about at a frantic pace, searching for signs of monsters or fireflies.
