For Zynex! 565

Ehno had gone through with that rather risky venture of wandering out to that small village to the north, tucked away and out of sight from many curious adventurers such as himself. The simple town had some odd power to lure him in and he was certainly glad he had made the journey back out there. It almost seemed as if the little town was some sort of lure to those from his homeland, as to his delight he had bumped into two individuals from Italy during his investigations of the isolated place. It was a rather interesting and amusing fact, though he knew he wouldn’t dare return there again soon. It was foolish enough for the Dreamer male to venture out there with the war brewing between the Dahlian wolves and the Inferni coyotes. Skirting the lands of those groups on his way there was a foolish thing, and he would not be willing to do it again until he knew it would be safe.

Luckily the Marino man had not run into any trouble from the pack or the clan on his way there or on his return trip. He would not be so quick to return to the land of Crimson Dreams just yet. The father needed to stop by Phoenix Valley to assure himself that Naniko and their children were safe. It seemed that the Valley, like the rest of the packs in the region, was declaring itself neutral in this returning conflict. Yet Phoenix Valley was much closer to both combatants in this war than any of the other packs, and he could not help but fret. He saw no reason for the conflict to reach out so far to reach the Valley lands, but he had to reassure himself that everything there was safe.

He arrived the night before and spent much of his time playing with his four children. As the late afternoon arrived, the pups began to drift to sleep, exhausted by their morning games. The Italian man smiled warmly and nuzzled each of his pups before he left them to their afternoon nap. He slipped quietly from Naniko’s cabin and set off on a quiet walk through the increasingly familiar territories. His wanderings soon led him to the pack’s ranch and he slowed his pace as he approached the pen where the sheep were kept. Nani often kept an eye on these animals, if he recalled correctly. The chocolate-hued male still found it quite curious that they raised these animals here, but he could not deny that it was a rather useful idea.

He sat upon one of the wooden fences that surrounded the pack’s sheep, watching the strange and fluffy creatures wander idly about. Flurries danced about in the air, twirling gracefully with a small winter’s breeze. They brought a simply beauty to the lands without dropping the temperatures too terribly. Ehno always found the earliest stages of snowfall to be the most beautiful, when the “snow fairies” were just beginning to dance their way down from the clouds. The Italian man smiled at that simple thought inspired by his daughter as he watched the sheep. The herd seemed to largely ignore the cool weather and the snowfall that was beginning to grace the lands. The only indication that they were being affected by winter temperatures was the way they huddled together in small groups.
