The core of the madman was as the eye of the storm – calm and tranquil, with merely a light pulse to guide the swirling horror about it. Haku was an empty hollow, but within him existed everything twisted and wrong. He was the burnt killer hanging from the rope, he was the stained knife in the ruined child’s hand, he was the tumour in every heart and soul gone wrong. He was every monster that had walked the face of the earth. He was their smirking revenge. Blood and smoke already burned the male’s senses and the electric currents in his lethal glare was locked on the woman that thought she knew everything yet knew nothing. The outcome was inevitable and they both knew this.

His body quickly coiled into a compact ball as the woman rammed into him with sharp edges tearing up his decaying flesh and drawing the blood he had harvested from the bodies of those he had killed. His eyes rolled into their sockets for a moment as the man resisted the urge to start ripping away on his own body as the overwhelming scent of his own blood flooded his sensitive nostrils and pulsed loudly in his deaf ears. His fangs sought for her though – he remembered her taste well. He carried rage and madness, but so did she. One would think they were matched, but she was still merely an ordinary mortal that thought she was something more. Ignorance never failed to taint their world.

He would take her again, and she would know defeat in the reflection of his impossibly blue orbs. Bravery was wasted on those who had their fates sealed.
