The silver-furred woman had a long, long time to think this meeting over. She had contemplated it many times—early on, this meeting had been just as awful as the last, and he had loomed above her, too massive and too powerful for her to so much as approach. He had hunted her instead, stalking her through the evening and all through the night, snarling through her dreams. The hybrid woman could not have even imagined trying to fight him again; she would have just as soon run from him forever before she even so much as faced him. Something had been broken in her, though, something had snapped—she was no longer complacent to run away from him, so she did the only other thing she knew how to do. She ran toward him. She attacked him.

The terrible sound of her rage was still a cacophony within her, a thudding sound rising up like the pumping of blood in her ears, burning hotly in her chest like the worst liquor she had ever downed because of this man. Her claws hit flesh, blessed flesh, clawing and tearing wildly and without concern for her own well being, gouging red lines perpendicular to his ribs. He had retracted somewhat, balling his body up to absorb her impact—she did not throw him to the ground and even as she clawed at him pain filtered through her consciousness, echoing dimly through her head. Pain did not matter; even as his teeth gouged the flesh of her right shoulder as she hit the ground with four paws again, nothing changed—the growling roar still echoed from her throat, her eye still burned fury and hate. Immediately on hitting the earth, she shoved forward once more, propelling herself off of the ground and diving for his protected throat, determined to rip it from him. He would breathe from a bloodied hole there for a minute, and then he would not breathe at all.
