(357) Have a fail Coli!

Colibri stood trembling on the warm grass outside the manor, her blue eyes wide with fear. Everyone had gone running towards the cries, and what had happened? Her nerves rooted her to the spot. Was it an attack? Who had been hurt? She wrung her wrists, knowing she would be of no help if she went now. She would be in the way for certain, and probably end up a casualty herself. Anu... Anu, Anu, Anu, no doubt the leader had rushed to the source of the pained howl, it had been her daughter's panicked voice, hadn't it?

The thought of injuries being sustained galvanized her, and she darted back inside the open doors of the manor, long mane streaming behind her. Maybe she could be of help here! This would be where everyone would return, right? If they needed medical attention, she could at least help with the basics! She loped up the staircase, feeling faintly out-of-breath as she reached the room she and Anu shared. Where was it, where was it -- there! The battered old teapot she had brought with her from Dahlia de Mai!

She raced back downstairs to the kitchen, intending to boil water and sterilize linens in it, to be used as bandages. Her old housemate, Deuce Rhiannon, had been an esteemed healer, and some of the basic tips had ended up rubbing off on the young girl. Without the pressure of seeing blood before her eyes, she could rationally plan for their arrival, and not let her anxiety attack her.

She started thinking of herbs, too, comfrey was essential for first aid, and willow bark could lessen the pain -- but the fae had distracted herself so completely that she did not pay attention to the water she was spilling. Her footpaw stepped in the puddle and shot out from under her, tumbling her to the hard kitchen floor in a pile of scattered bandages. Moments before her skull connected with the ground, she could remember thinking how amazingly ironic it was that she was able to get hurt even when she was completely alone. But then everything went black.
